Harvard University is declining to renew the dean position of law professor Ronald S. Sullivan Jr., who was part of a team with his wife leading one of the university’s residential colleges. Sullivan’s role has been under fire from students since he joined the legal team defending former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein from criminal sexual assault charges.
Sullivan and his wife were the first African Americans to lead one of Harvard’s residential colleges.
While Sullivan will no longer lead the residential college, he remains a faculty member at Harvard Law, where he is the Jesse Climenko Clinical Professor of Law and director of the Criminal Justice Institute.
Residential deans at Harvard have responsibilities for out-of-classroom education. The position was previously called a “house master.” It is considered a prestigious honor.

Brookside would be celebrating its 30th anniversary on screen tonight had Channel 4 not wielded the axe nearly a decade ago. The Museum of Liverpool will be staging a memoriam with creator Phil Redmond as well as popular cast members Claire Sweeney (Lindsey Corkhill) and Dean Sullivan (Jimmy). Brookside will be remembered by the Museum of Liverpool this weekend as the soap celebrates its 30th anniversary. The hard-hitting soap opera, which was axed by Channel 4 in 2003, will be celebrated this coming Sunday (November 4) with special guests including creator Phil Redmond. Claire Sweeney (Lindsey Corkhill), who recently claimed that Brookie should never have been cancelled, will also attend the all-day event, as well as her on-screen dad Dean Sullivan (Jimmy). Paul Burrell has claimed that Brookside was Princess Diana's favourite TV programme. The Princess of Wales's former butler attempted to refute the 'myth' that EastEnders was Diana's best-loved show. Burrell, speaking a month after the 15th anniversary of the royal's death, told the Huffington Post: "Brookside was her favourite and she met most of the cast.
