Have you ever experienced a melting pot of design choices so unique that you can’t help but love the final result despite some glaring flaws? That’s how I felt while playing Wanted: Dead. The new game from development studio Soleil Ltd. is being described as a “love letter to the sixth generation of consoles” and has a dev team made up of former developers of Ninja Gaiden and Dead Alive. In a current gaming landscape consisting of battle passes, always online connections, and microtransactions, Wanted: Dead has the potential to be a cult throwback hit for an audience that desires that hardcore old-school experience.

Ahead of Soleil and and 110 Industries’ release of Wanted: Dead, IGN has scored the game’s launch trailer, which boasts just what you’d expect from the talent behind Ninja Gaiden: plenty of swordplay, gunplay, and bloody action. Of course, unlike the trailer that explained the game’s combat, the launch trailer for Wanted: Dead puts in the needed story elements.
Wanted: Dead is a hybrid slasher/shooter that follows a week in life of the Zombie Unit, an elite Hong Kong police squad on a mission to uncover a major corporate conspiracy. You play as Lt. Hannah Stone, a hardboiled Hong Kong cop who must slash her way through mercenaries, gang members and private military contractors in order to uncover a major corporate conspiracy.
In addition to using your sword to slice up foes with over 80 unique finishing moves, you’ve also got your standard array of guns, including assault rifles,...

With Soleil and and 110 Industries’ cyberpunk action game Wanted: Dead creeping closer to release next month, the companies have released a new trailer for the third-person action game that delves into its combat, courtesy of IGN. And given that the game is from the minds behind Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, you can expect Wanted: Dead‘s combat to be tough as nails.
Combining close-quarters combat with shooting, Wanted: Dead will have you juggling between the two as you make your way through the variety of enemy types. Your main character, Lt. Hannah Stone, comes equipped with a gun from the start, as well as access to several secondary weapons that can be dropped by foes. But even then, that won’t get you very far.
You’ll have to combine run-and-gun tactics with up close and personal tactics involving your sword, slide and charge attacks, as well as takedown moves.
