Coming out and its impact on the sports industry was a career-defining moment, said Jason Collins, retired NBA Player and the first openly gay man to play in the NBA, at an event on Tuesday.
The Aarp event, hosted in collaboration with Sage and the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Lgbt Affairs, brought together members of the Lgbt community, along with community organizations and local stakeholders, to discuss cross-cultural competence and challenges the Lgbt community often faces.
Attendees spoke out about the importance of cultural sensitivity and diversity inclusion during the roundtable discussion moderated by Terri Clark, SAGECare Trainer.
“Although members of the Lgbt community have many things in common, we also have aspects of our identities that join us to other cultures and communities,” stated Terri Clark, SAGECare Trainer. “Folks attended because they want to connect and learn about the diversity within our Lgbt communities and believe they...

2017 has been an unequivocally weak year for animation. There wasn’t a new Laika movie, although strong Gkids titles like “The Breadwinner” helped fill the void. There wasn’t a new Studio Ghibli movie (although the forthcoming “Mary and the Witch’s Flower” is the next best thing). There were two offerings from Pixar, one of which was totally solid, and the other of which was “Cars 3.” By the summer, the situation was already so dire that something called “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” was considered a merciful reprieve from the endless trash parade of soulless corporate dreck like “Despicable Me 3” and “Smurfs: The Lost Village.”
And yet, amidst all of this darkness, there was a glimmering bright spot. And that bright spot… was something even darker. Black. “All important movies start with a black screen.” Those are the first words we hear in Chris McKay’s “The Lego Batman Movie,...

Last Week’S Review: ‘The Well-Tempered Clavier’ Goes Down the Rabbit Hole For Answers
Diagnostic Report
Well. That happened. For the record, we have no idea what a Season 2 of this show looks like. We just know that Holy Smokes this finale sure aired.
“Westworld” confirmed a lot of things in its extra-long finale — specifically, the fact that William’s adventures in the park were from an earlier time than the rest of the narrative, and that Maeve’s decision to revolt would lead to her freedom… sort of. One of the most shocking revelations: The rampage Teddy remembers Wyatt going on? That was actually executed by Dolores. Wyatt, it seems, was never truly real.
The other most important plot points: Maeve has made her escape… though she’s looped back to find her “daughter.” The board has made the necessary moves to remove Ford from his position of authority,...
