A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Florida rapper Kodak Black should be released from custody after he landed in jail two months ago on a Broward County drug possession charge dismissed two weeks ago. The “Super Gremlin” rapper walked out of detention Wednesday night, meaning he’ll be free to witness the birth of his son due later this week.
“It was important for him to be out for the birth of his son,” his lawyer Bradford Cohen tells Rolling Stone. “This is his fourth child. He has been at every birth,...

Jailed rap star Kodak Black scored a legal victory Friday when a Florida judge dismissed his drug charge linked to his Dec. 7 arrest for possession of a substance deemed “cocaine” at the scene but was actually oxycodone through subsequent lab testing. Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, submitted a prescription for the oxycodone to the court prior to the ruling. Prosecutors tried, but failed, to convince the court that more was needed to substantiate the script.

Kodak Black is asking a judge to dismiss his pending drug charges in Florida after lab tests proved the white substance collected during his recent arrest was the prescription painkiller oxycodone, not cocaine. In a sworn motion filed Monday in Broward County, defense lawyer Brad Cohen says the multiplatinum-selling rapper had a legal prescription at the time of his arrest on December 7, 2023, so his charges should be stricken.

The first time I saw "The Adept" was at the FilmQuest Film Festival last year. That short is now available to watch online, and what I love about it is that it plays with both magic and sci-fi, which are two things that I’m really into. The short film was written and directed by Adam Stern for Artifex Studios and this is the brief synopsis:
A scientist with a passion for magic gets more than he bargains for when performing a new card trick. The Adept is a sci-fi short that explores the connections between science, magic, and our understanding of reality.
This is a really well-made film, and I thought the concept was wonderfully executed. I think you’ll all enjoy what this film has to offer, so make sure to check it out when you get a chance!

Our congratulations to all of the nominees.” First-time nominees include Jodie Foster ("House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black"), Cary Fukunaga ("True Detective"), Mike Judge ("Silicon Valley"), Lisa Cholodenko ("Olive Kitteridge"), Michael Wilson ("The Trip to Bountiful") and Jill Soloway ("Transparent"). With so much fuss being made about J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot, it's easy to forget that there is another successful franchise out there with Star... in the title. That would be Stargate, which is due for its own sort of makeover later this year with the premiere of Stargate Universe. This is no sign that the concept is struggling, though. Indeed, the slew of awards that Stargate productions won at the recent Leo Awards in Vancouver, British Columbia (the home base of CinemaSpy) shows that it continues to be admired.
The Leo Awards are presented by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of B.C.. They were established in 1998 to celebrate excellence in film and television productions that are made in the province. Stargate series and movies are largely filmed in Vancouver. At this years Celebration and Gala Ceremonies for the Leos, which took place on May 8 and...
