John Molloy is the head of production at Mushroom Pictures, working out of the company's Melbourne office. After boffo success with 'Molly' earlier in the year, he's now gearing up for the release of his latest project as producer: Nicholas Verso's fantasy-tinged teen drama 'Boys in the Trees'.
When did you meet the director, Nicholas Verso? I know you produced his short..
That was the first time we worked together, on The Last Time I Saw Richard (2014), but I'd seen some of Nicholas's short films before that. Nic and I started working on Boys in the Trees and then decided to make The Last Time I Saw Richard as a way of helping us put the feature together. A proof of our relationship and also showing Nicholas' style, so that when we were out talking about the feature we had something very concrete that people could hold on to.

I’m not going to lie, I was a bit worried before reading the first reactions to Fox’s new Batman prequel series, Gotham. I’m incredibly excited for the show, and seriously hope that it lives up to its potential. However, one could easily see where the series could go horribly, horribly wrong, and many were left skeptical by its first trailer.
Sure, it will be great to see a Batman show on television, but the series runs the risk of falling into typical prequel tropes, and spending too much time winking at the audience instead of telling good stories that fully utilize the Gotham-before-Batman concept.
Well, if these early reactions are any indication, we have nothing to worry about, because Gotham appears to have delivered on its promises and established a great foundation for what we hope is a stellar season. The pilot episode was screened for...

It was only a week ago that Fox announced it had picked up Gotham to series, which means we’ll be getting 16 episodes that will air on Monday nights at 8pm staring in the fall. Since then, we’ve seen a few promo images, plot details, and a great trailer that give us a clear picture of what to expect from the Batman-less prequel.
Now, the marketing push continues, as over a dozen new images have been released. We’re treated to a shot of detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) talking to a young Bruce Wayne, presumably at his parents’ crime scene, and we also see a glimpse of what looks like an intense showdown between Gordon and the future Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor). We also get a look at Penguin’s boss, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Gordon’s partner, Harvey Bullock, (Donal Logue) at a slaughterhouse.

The first trailer for The Flash will debut after this week’s season finale of Arrow on Wednesday, but a new promo for that episode has offered up a very brief look at the iconic DC superhero speeding into action.
For a TV budget, the effects appear to be very impressive, and should help put aside any doubts over whether or not The CW will be equipped to do the Scarlet Speedster justice on the small screen. Be sure to wait right until the end, especially as it appears as if Green Arrow will also be in The Flash pilot!
Of course, The Flash will be joined this Autumn not only by a third season of Arrow, but also Constantine and Gotham. The latter series has today released a lengthy new synopsis for the Batman prequel along with a great batch of character promo images and stills from the highly anticipated pilot episode.

Emmy Winning Actor Thom Christopher is beloved by daytime fans for his memorable roles on One Life To Live, Loving, and Guiding Light. However, sci-fi fans know Christopher better as the legendary "Hawk" from NBC's Buck Rogers In The 25Th Century from 1980-1981. We've been tracking the progress of director Bob Willems' Renfield: The Undead for quite a while, and now it looks like we're approaching the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. The rough cut is done, and an official website and trailer are both due in the next few weeks. We're not sure how they found the time, but the filmmakers just sent over a couple of new concept posters for us to share with our readers.
Willems and crew are in heavy post and compositing for the film, but there is some other news: Jeff Walton (Curse of the Puppet Master, Shrieker, Invisible Mom, Invisible Dad, The Brotherhood 1&2) is composing the music for Renfield: The Undead. In addition to premiering at the Bram Stoker Film Festival in Whitby, England this October, Renfield will also be screened at The American Film Market in November.

All eyes may be on Marvel and DC when it comes to the superhero franchises, but the smaller publishers have just as many (if not more) on the pre-production plate. "Alibi," the comic book series about John Stephens and his secretive twin brother who operates as a top-secret government assassin, is headed for the big screen.

Brash and obsessive, tech tycoon Tom Siebel believes that keeping teens off crystal meth is largely a matter of educating and scaring them. Could he be right?
As you might expect of a self-made billionaire, Tom Siebel exudes inexhaustibility. It's tiring just being around him. One afternoon last fall, Siebel bounds into the kitchen of his sprawling ranch house in central Montana, and after he takes very firm hold of my hand -- "Tom! Good to see you," he announces, shaking away, as if I might not have learned the name of the man whose 72,000-acre property I am visiting -- he asks, "Want to see some elk?" Siebel is wearing jeans, a plaid work shirt, and nerdy wire-rim glasses. He is out of breath because, in the hour since he stepped off a private jet from California, he has destroyed a round of clay pigeons on his shooting range.

"I think each album is in some ways a reaction to the last album," Legend said about his latest effort. "I think the last album was more kind of mellow and more intimate, more romantic, more explicitly vintage and classic. And this one, because I had just done that album, I didn't want to do it again.
