- Fredric Steinkamp was born on August 22, 1928. He was an editor and producer, known for Out of Africa (1985), Tootsie (1982) and Three Days of the Condor (1975). He died on February 20, 2002 in Santa Monica, California, USA.
- Father of film editor William Steinkamp.
- Began in the sound department at MGM, later working for the studio as full-time editor from 1959 to 1967. From 1969, he was often associated with the films of Sydney Pollack. In 2001, Steinkamp was awarded the Career Achievement Award by the American Cinema Editors.
