Marvel’s Fantastic Four has lived through several iterations. In 1994, the first ambitious Fantastic Four life-action was made starring Alex Hyde-White, Rebecca Staab, and Jay Underwood, with Joseph Culp playing Doctor Doom. However, the movie was never released. While the Chris Evans-starrer Fantastic Four movie series was popular among fans, there was an attempt from Fox to reboot the franchise in 2015 with a roster of a talented cast.

Michael B. Jordan, who starred in 2015’s Fantastic Four, recently teased that he might appear in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Certainly, the movie has stacked an astonishing amount of surprises. Despite the release of a teaser and a trailer, the movie has managed to keep fans at bay with rumors and speculations.

Film fans love to speculate on what canceled movie productions would have become. What would it have been like to see Steven Spielberg's science fiction epic "Robopocalypse," Quentin Tarantino's Vega Brothers movie, Stanley Kubrick's ambitious "Napoleon" biopic, or Alejandro Jodorowsky's "Dune" adaptation? Would they be everything fans imagined them to be? Or crushing disappointments? While it's fun to speculate, we can't put our faith into something that doesn't exist. Likely, these films wouldn't have lived up to fans' massive expectations.

Marvel's "First Family" has had a rocky road to the big screen. Although the characters of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm have delighted Marvel comic book fans for generations, the "Fantastic Four" has never received the cinematic adaptation that they deserve. Unfortunately, these great characters have never been properly utilized. The "Fantastic Four" comics show what it's like to balance superhero responsibilities with familial duties.
Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing were brought to life in 1994's "The Fantastic Four," a low-budget film that never received a theatrical release. It wasn't until 2005 that they made it to the big screen when Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis were cast in Tim Story's "Fantastic Four." While the cast has strong chemistry, the film did not strike the right tone. 2007's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" at...

When Warner Bros. Discovery announced its much-anticipated Batgirl movie would be shelved, the news sent shockwaves through Hollywood. While the studio eventually expressed concerns the work done by directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah failed to live up to “spectacle that audiences have come to expect from DC fare,” the final decision to leave the film unreleased, despite reportedly having spent upwards of 90 million on it, felt unprecedented in the ever-expanding age of superhero movies.
It was heartbreaking on multiple levels. Adil & Bilall had already proven themselves adept big budget filmmakers on the brilliant Bad Boys for Life while the eye-catching cast included J.K. Simmons getting another go as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser continuing the “Franaissance” as villain Firefly, and Michael Keaton donning the Batsuit for the first time in nearly two decades. Arguably the saddest aspect, however, was the fact it robbed Leslie Grace of a potentially star-making turn as Barbara Gordon,...

It’s that time of year where I start watching every Christmas movie possible. Not so long ago I started on December 1st but I soon realised that even at two a day I was missing out on some great movies, so now as soon as Halloween is over I get started. Netflix seem to have the same idea because their first festive offering of 2021 started streaming on the 5th November.
If this was a straight to DVD-style release it would probably be called A Catfish For Christmas, which is only slightly worse than the title they opted for. In Love Hard, Natalie (Nina Dobrev) is a writer who is struggling to find love through her dating apps. That...

— if audiences can get past the conceit that an attractive, self-respecting woman would be so desperate for a boyfriend that she’d stick around after a potential beau pulls a despicable deed by “catfishing” her. For those who find that completely implausible even by dumbed-down genre standards, the remainder is hard to love. The ensuing shenanigans not only do our heroine a massive disservice by letting men manipulate her agency — they also cause us to question what exactly we’re rooting for when the perky protagonist stoops to equally lowdown behavior.
Los Angeles journalist Natalie Bauer (Nina Dobrev) is searching for her soul mate in the online dating world, but failing spectacularly with local prospects. Her Flirt Alert app matches have tested her patience with men using outdated profile photos, standing her up completely and worse, cheating on their spouses. She remains unflappable, turning these disaster dates into fodder for...

"Love doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be honest." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for a holiday romantic comedy titled Love Hard, directed by Costa Rican filmmaker Hernán Jiménez. An LA girl, unlucky in love, falls for an East Coast guy on a dating app and decides to surprise him for the holidays, only to discover that she's been catfished. This lighthearted romantic comedy chronicles her attempt to reel in love. So a "catfish" romcom, but with a twist? Or two? Nina Dobrev stars in this as Natalie Bauer, with a cast including Jimmy O. Yang, Darren Barnet, James Saito, Harry Shum Jr., Mikaela Hoover, Heather McMahan, Althea Kaye, Rebecca Staab, Matty Finochio, and Fletcher Donovan. I like that this is about her learning to actually fall for the guy who catfished her, that's kind of sweet. Or am I just crazy? This seems like another...

It’s probably not a stretch to say that Amber Heard has had a busy few weeks, from the outcome of the trial involving her ex-husband Johnny Depp, to the extensive petitions and other debates surrounding her future. The 34-year-old actress remains a high-profile casting choice in Hollywood, though, and we’ve recently seen her be linked to a new Pirates of the Caribbean film with Margot Robbie. Heard has also reportedly been in talks to join the McU as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, in the Fantastic Four reboot, and we now have an idea of what that could look like.
Artist @ApexForm shared an image on Instagram of Heard as Storm, suitably in the middle of disappearing. While there’s not much to go in the shot, at least compared to some of the other mock-ups of potential Invisible Women that have been doing the rounds, it...

Some actors make themselves known by being part of the supporting cast or taking on important roles here and there that don’t go anywhere but still move the story ahead. Rebecca Staab could be counted as one of those individuals but she could also be said to be someone that has thrived on appearing in a wide variety of shows for one or two episodes, or more, and then moving on. If you’ve watched Port Charles then you know just who she is and either liked her, didn’t like her, or didn’t think much of her since like many roles

Only two weeks have passed since Marvel welcomed the arrival of the first Avengers: Infinity War teaser and already, Joe and Anthony Russo’s starry tentpole has racked up a staggering 100 million views on YouTube.
That number continues to climb at an exponential rate, so it’s small wonder why Infinity War now holds the title as the most-watched trailer debut of all time within 24 hours. But YouTube content creator and all-around video wizard Darth Blender has produced a decidedly different take on the Avengers: Infinity War trailer.

It looks like the Somewhere Between TV show has been quietly cancelled after one season on ABC. The network has removed the summer mystery drama, which premiered on July 24th, from the Disney-abc press site. If Somewhere Between is cancelled, this means the September 19th season one finale episode, "One Must Die," is also the de facto Somewhere Between TV series finale. Check out an episode description for it, below. An ABC television adaptation of the Korean mystery series, God’s Gift: 14 Days, Somewhere Between stars Paula Patton, Aria Birch, Devon Sawa, Catherine Barroll, Jr Bourne, Samantha Ferris, Noel Johansen, Imogen Tear, Carmel Amit, Daniel Bacon, Rebecca Staab, Greyston Holt, and Matt Visser. The drama centers on news producer, Laura Price (Patton). When her daughter Serena (Birch) is murdered, the fates present Laura with a one-time-only “Groundhog Day” reset. If she saves the...

Last year, 20th Century Fox released a “Fantastic Four” reboot directed by Josh Trank. Starring Miles Teller (“Whiplash”), Michael B. Jordan (“Creed”), Kate Mara (“The Martian”), Jamie Bell (“Snowpiercer”), the film was a critical and commercial disaster. The reboot tried to jumpstart the franchise after the original 2005 series underperformed with its 2007 sequel. But in 1994, Bernd Eichinger of Constantin Film and director Roger Corman teamed up to make their own “Fantastic Four” film that never saw the light of day.

Bear Manor Media, 586 pages, $42.95/$29.95
Longtime readers of pop culture magazines have no doubt read interviews with actors who have donned capes, cowls, spandex, and prosthetics to portray heroes and villains drawn from comic books. I certainly was involved in my fair share of such interviews working at Starlog Press and its successors have continued, especially contemporary online outlets which are enjoying a bonanza of options.
Most of those interviews tend to be about the most immediate project with little insight or context about an actor’s association with a media property or being the latest in a long line to play the same role. And certainly, these interviews are sandwiched between news, features, and other topics. So, it’s a bit of a surprise that such a collection has not been attempted before.

Back before Hollywood studios like Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, Universal and 20th Century Fox realized that you could actually make money off of adapting silly comic books into movies, there was a German producer by the name of Bernd Eichinger. He had the vision to see that comic books could become blockbusters and had his company purchase the film rights to the Fantastic Four from Stan Lee. One issue, his company didn't have the money to actually make a big-budget Hollywood film. So, in order to keep the film rights his company hired Roger Corman to produce it, as he was well known for making films on the cheap. The cast included: Alex Hyde-White as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, Rebecca Staab as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Michael Bailey Smith as Ben Grimm, Carl Ciarfalio as the Thing and Joseph Culp as...

Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s he Fantastic Four.
Here’s the official press release:
In 1994, Roger Corman was tapped to produce this Marvel superhero story on a very small film budget. The film was ultimately shelved prior to distribution, but a VHS copy was mysteriously leaked and the movie became a darling of film bootleggers and, more recently, web pirates. Rumors and speculation surrounding the production have become as much a part of the lore as the film itself.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Roger Corman’s edition of The Fantastic Four and finally, all of the secrets, stories and legal shenanigans that have kept this a ‘lost’ film will be revealed through in-depth, investigative interviews with the cast and crew.

"Dexter" Season 8 premieres this Sunday, June 30th, but we already have a sneak peek of Episode 8.03, "What's Eating Dexter Morgan?," to share in the form of a nice big image gallery.
No synopsis of the ep, which airs July 14th, has been released yet, but we do know it was written by Lauren Gussis and directed by Ernest Dickerson, who's been making quite a name for himself directing TV shows like "Dexter," "The Walking Dead," "Treme," and the upcoming "Low Winter Sun." Guest stars for the ep include Charlotte Rampling, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Rebecca Staab.
"Dexter" Season 8 begins six months after Laguerta’s murder with Dexter (Golden Globe and SAG Award winner Michael C. Hall) still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past.

Aside from all the new ideas to be found on crowdfunding websites such as Kickstarter - including a new variety of beef jerky made from posh Japanese cows - there are all sorts of opportunities to indulge our sense of nostalgia.
Through sheer coincidence, the projects that caught my eye this week all have a retro theme; there's a documentary about a forgotten adaptation of a Marvel comic book, a timely revival of one of the most innovative computer games of the 1980s, and a special English language edition of a classic Japanese manga. Although very different, each of these crowdfunding projects is worthy of support, since they're all niche interests that simply couldn't find financial backing through other means.

2012 was a mega year for superhero movies. Not only did Nolan bring his third and final Dark Knight movie to the screen, to the collected hysteria of almost the entire world, but the Avengers made their first collective appearance and a new Spider-Man showed up with an edgier attitude and wicked skateboard skills that anyone over the age of 25 probably groaned at a little bit.
And the tide of good will to all comic book adaptations shows no signs of stopping, with a whole new phase for Marvel, but a hotly anticipated attempt to make a Jla movie from DC, plus new X-Men, Antman, Wolverine, Guardians Of The Galaxy and many, many more incoming. It’s good to be a comic book movie fan at the minute.
But it wasn’t always so, and dirtying the mostly very impressive relationship between comics and movies are those repugnant, terrible early efforts...

It seems that the director was apparently unaware that producer Roger Corman was filming the $1 million flick just to keep the license to the franchise, which he would later sell to Fox for millions more. Since then, Sassone has gone on to direct a number of action television series (She Spies and Mutant X among them) and relatively low budget featues, but this conversation -- again, conducted in 1994 -- is strictly on the Ff, which starred Alex Hyde-White as Reed Richards, Rebecca Staab as Sue Storm, Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm and Michael Bailey Smith as Ben Grimm. Retrovision: Upon hearing that Roger Corman was doing the Fantastic Four, an eyebrow can't help but be raised. Oley Sassone: It's kind of cheesy, but the other partner in this is Constantine Film Development. That's who brought me into the project, because I didn't want to do a movie with Roger Corman.

Veteran actress Kathy Najimy has landed a role on Desperate Housewives.
The actress - who has appeared on a number of shows, including Privileged, King of the Hill and Numb3rs - will guest star in as a police officer with a surprising connection to Teri Hatcher’s Susan.
“Susan suspects Katherine was the one who attacked Julie, so she gets [a cop] to help her,” creator Marc Cherry told Entertainment Weekly. “But then she finds out the policewoman went to high school with her — and Susan stole her boyfriend, too! So [Najimy] has been going around the past 30 years resenting her.”
In other Desperate Housewives casting news, Rebecca Staab and David Chisum are also coming to Wisteria Lane.
They'll debut on October 25; while Najimy's episode will also air in October.

Most of the time, when Desperate Housewives viewers hear about a "cheating scandal," they assume a disloyal spouse is sleeping around. And that's typically the case.
But cheating of a different sort will be an issue this fall, as TV Guide reports that Tom will take a few shortcuts on his college work when the new season of this ABC hit returns.
Lynette will find out and will Not be pleased.
Hmmm, we just re-read that and realized that it is entirely possible that the "cheating" in question is with another woman. Guess we'll need to tune in and find out.
We can at least confirm with certainty that Rebecca Staab and David Chisum are joining the cast. See, we're good for something!

Details about extra series that accompanies the sixth season of "Desperate Housewives" have been unearthed. As previously reported, there would be eight vignettes, released weekly as the series' side dish, which are promoting Sprint mobile. Turns out these vignettes are produced by creator Marc Cherry and written by the show's writers.
"They're kind of like the old Taster's Choice commercials, but we added a lot of wicked dark humor, murder and adultery and betrayal," Cherry told EW. Executive Producer Sabrina Wind chimed in, "It's very Desperate Housewives. It was shot on our set, with our crew, and written by our writers."
While EW reported that the 35-second spots will air beginning the show's premiere on September 27, ABC Soaps in Depth said that they will begin as early as Tuesday, September 22 with the introduction of two new characters played by Rebecca Staab and David Chisum.
