Was the host of a talk show for 16 years (2000 - 2016) at Globo TV. He
has also worked on SBT TV.
Has written four books: "O Xangô de Baker Street", later adapted to
film, "O Homem Que Matou Getúlio Vargas", "Assassinato na Academia
Brasileira de Letras" and "As Esganadas".
He is nephew of Kanela, the coach of the twice world champion Brazilian
National Basketball Team in the 60's.
Son of Mercedes Leal Soares, a housewife, and Orlando Heitor Soares, a
diplomat.
He invited the journalist Pedro Bial to interview him, during his own show Programa do Jô (2000), to talk about his book As Esganadas (The Strangle Females) because he said that he was unable to interview himself.
His son Rafael that had autism, died with a cerebral cancer at the age of 50.
