- Re: "Rainbow" (1996) I keep hearing that as we approach the 21st century, digital photography will be ready. The point I'd like to make is that it's here now. When people hear HD, they think of it as a television process, but this is actually electronic cinematography - and really high quality imaging at that.
- As art direction and production design goes, I never felt that I was a designer of sets. I've always considered myself to be a designer of pictures - moving pictures. I have no personal style that I try to adapt or impose on the design. It all comes to me through my vision of what I've read in the script. My job is to turn those words into pictures. To me, it's not the film business: It's the picture business.
- Here is Rule # 1 in running the Art Department. The most successful sets are the ones that are ready to shoot on the day that they are scheduled. I continually strive to ensure that they are also aesthetically pleasing, but that would be Rule # 2.
