It’s time for a new episode of the Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and in this one we’re looking at the true events that inspired Silent Night (watch it Here), the 2012 remake of the 1984 slasher classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. You might have thought that Silent Night wasn’t inspired by anything other than the film it’s a remake of, but that’s definitely not the case. And you can find out all about the real life tragedy that led to the story of the remake by checking out the video embedded above.
Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie? is sort of a spin-off from our show Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie. Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie? dives into movies that were based on or “inspired by” true stories, real people, and actual historical events so we can try to separate fact from fiction.

If even a small portion of the rhetoric surrounding The Walking Dead season 8 holds true, then this year’s instalment will be talked about for years to come.
Coming out of the admittedly drab and lackluster seventh season, AMC quickly identified the areas in need of improvement, and we’ve learned from series showrunner Scott Gimple that season 8 will zip along at breakneck speed. Not only that, but it’ll bring a sense of closure to the all-encompassing war between Negan and Rick Grimes, which ought to negate any fears that AMC would milk the whole ‘Team Negan’ versus ‘Team Rick’ spiel for all it’s worth.
But with October 22nd fast approaching, NY Daily News (via ComicBook.com) caught up with both Andrew Lincoln and Jeffrey Dean Morgan to discuss The Walking Dead season 8, and it didn’t take long before the latter doubled down on Negan’s dark streak.

Look away now, Negan, for a powerful alliance is beginning to form on The Walking Dead.
With little over two weeks to go until season 8’s premiere, AMC has unearthed yet another featurette to fan the flames of excitement. And make no mistake about it, on October 22nd, the network will unleash a full-blown war between Negan, the Saviors and all of their many, many enemies.
Thanks to Rick Grimes and his tight-knit crew, the weathered communities scattered across Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom have pulled together in the name of a common cause, and after devoting so much time to character building and generally laying the groundwork for season 8, the next four-to-five weeks will seemingly deliver the payoff The Walking Dead fans so crave. When it comes to The Walking Dead‘s upcoming eighth season, most of the interest has concerned the premiere, which will mark the show’s 100th episode. Titled “Mercy,” the extended, 67 minute opener is set to feature many nods to the past, as well as answering – or, at least, teasing an answer – to the Old Man Rick scene glimpsed in the Comic-Con trailer.
But what comes after that? Well, thanks to SpoilerTV, we now have our first bit of information on the content of episodes 2 and 3 of season 8. As fans will know, the new run will see Rick and the combined communities – known as the Militia in the comics – do battle against Negan and his Saviours. While it doesn’t sound like things will immediately jump into “All Out War,” these new synopses do tease that the conflict’s escalating.
First up, episode 2 is titled “The Damned.” The synopsis is as follows,...

Though one might assume that the likes of Andrew Lincoln and other key members of The Walking Dead (see: Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride) cast tune in to AMC’s flagship on a regular basis, the British actor recently admitted that he doesn’t watch the show at all.
It’s not uncommon for actors to purposely dodge the content they’re in, and Andrew Lincoln is no exception. While discussing all things The Walking Dead with TV Insider, including that historic 100th episode and Negan’s villainy, the series stalwart conceded that he stays clear of Twd when it’s showing on AMC, particularly those scenes involving Rick Grimes in “old-age makeup.”
Lincoln is, of course, referring to the flash-forward that placed his Rick on a hospital bed. Sporting a great big bushy beard and some uncanny makeup, this Old Man Rick scene has fuelled debate across the four corners of the Internet ever since,...

That’s the attitude of The Walking Dead season 8’s premiere, “Mercy,” which has now been billed as the show’s “most ambitious episode” yet. How fitting, given that it’s set to be remembered as the big 100.
Word comes by way of ComicBook.com. After detailing the title and official synopsis of “Mercy,” along with the “incredibly propulsive” episode set to arrive on October 22nd, Cb recently caught up with Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer on The Walking Dead, to discuss what next month’s instalment has in store and how its debut will leave a lasting impact on the remainder of the season.

When The Walking Dead returns on October 22nd, bringing with it a batch of seemingly breathless, edge-of-your-seat content, it’ll kick things off with a showdown between Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and our unified survivors.
We are, of course, referring to Alexandria, the Kingdom and the folks residing on the Hilltop, who have all banded together in the face of a common enemy – or enemies, considering Negan will once again be calling upon the help of his equally manic Saviors. The battle lines have been drawn, then, and we now have confirmation that season 8’s premiere episode (Aka Twd‘s big 100) will be called “Mercy,” and will tell the tale of how “Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, have banded together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors.”

I think it would take a seriously dedicated fan of Fallout 4 and Rick and Morty to really break down all of the scenes that are represented in this clip. I know of at least one since I’ve had to write on it before. But I’ll say this as I’ve said it in the recent past, I still don’t know how Rick and Morty is so popular but I’ll just leave it that it is. The pickle Rick scene is pretty obvious since it’s been so pervasive for so long with the show. It still stands out as one of

Fans went wild after The Walking Dead‘s season 8 trailer, first released at Comic-Con, dropped an unexpected twist in its final moments. Dubbed the “Old Man Rick” scene, the preview ended with a glimpse at a greying, bearded, bedridden Rick, seemingly a flash-forward to some point in the character’s future.
It turns out that we weren’t the only ones surprised by the scene, as star Andrew Lincoln was also shocked when he discovered that Old Man Rick was coming to the show. He spoke about the sequence to EW during a recent interview and in doing so, potentially gave us a clue as to its meaning:
I was shocked and kind of excited by it. My instinct was, what a great storytelling device. That was my instinct. I thought it was very interesting, and also gives us an opportunity to do something else a little ahead of the game,...

It’s fair to say that The Walking Dead‘s seventh season was the most controversial run of the smash-hit post-apocalyptic drama to date. Though it still has its supporters, the shocking opening episode and the slow, protracted pace of the rest of the season rubbed many people the wrong way. The final few episodes ramped up the interest again, however, by positioning the people of Alexandria, the Kingdom and Hilltop against Negan and his Saviors.
For season 8, then, things are sure to get a whole lot more action-packed and dramatic. While that’s certainly exciting, those are far from the only reasons why we’re looking forward to the show’s return. Among many other things, there’s also the fact that this year, The Walking Dead will celebrate 100 episodes, and to mark the occasion, AMC is sticking some fun easter eggs into the premiere for fans to pick up on.

October 22nd isn’t that far away now, but fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead are beyond eager to get a look at season 8. He’s a sadist, an unhinged psychopath, and a calculating leader; but he’s also one of the more compelling villains that The Walking Dead has seen in years. First introduced at the tail-end of season 6, Negan arguably hit his stride during the somewhat contentious “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be,” when he lined up Rick and his ragtag crew before brutally executing Glenn and Abraham.

Giving us an extended look at the upcoming batch of episodes, there was lots to discuss and dissect, and while we’ve been doing just that, there’s still one moment in particular which has many people confused, and that’s what’s being referred to as the Old Man Rick scene.

1971’s Duel revved the engines of cinematic road-ragers everywhere and put many a vicious vehicle on the old highway to hell. What horror fan doesn’t love The Car, Christine, and Death Proof?
Those are classics. But what sets the Joy Ride film franchise apart from the rest is that it’s more about the diabolical driver and less about the terrifying truck. Which is not to say the big rig isn’t badass in its own right, but let’s face it: The 18-wheeler isn’t nearly as fun to chat with as actor and stuntman Ken Kirzinger.

Sellier, Jr.'s 1984 classic Silent Night, Deadly Night stars Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine, Mother’s Day), Malcolm McDowell (Halloween), Donal Logue (Shark Night 3D), Jamie Kennedy (Scream), Brendan Fehr (Final Destination), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow), Cortney Palm (Sushi Girl), Rick Skene (The Divide), and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs the World). Look for it this holiday season from Anchor Bay.

Silent Night, the remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night, is currently filming and we have some new behind-the-scenes photos and casting news. The Winnipeg Free Press was on the set recently and reported on who would be playing the killer in the movie:
“In the movie Silent Night, the killer dressed as Santa Claus inspires not visions of sugarplums, but something decidedly more nightmarish as he slices his way through the naughty citizenry of Cryer, Wisconsin. The Genre Company revealed that the role of the killer would be played by Winnipeg actor-stunt co-ordinator Rick Skene.
It’s a particularly delicious change-up for Skene, the son of former Free Press theatre critic Reg Skene. Rick was the stunt co-ordinator of the direct-to-dvd horror film Wrong Turn 4 in which his stuntman-actor sons Sean and Daniel Skene played two of the film’s three mutant cannibal villains, Three Finger and One Eye.

“We’ve got five more days, and we’ve switched to days and interiors so I can see the light,” Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings director Declan O’Brien told us of the production while on the set this past March 7, 2011, in the below-zero clime of then wintry Brandon, Canada. “We completed all of the exteriors already so it’s going to be a pleasure.”
Serving as a prequel to the 2003 Rob Schmidt-directed killer hillbilly flick that launched the franchise and written and directed by O’Brien (who returns to the franchise following his helming of Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead), this fourth entry not only serves to document the events that created the series’ rural cannibals but also presents the modern story of a group of wayward skiers who find themselves seeking refuge in an abandoned insane asylum during a blizzard.

In a good sign of things to come, the first folks cast in Fox's fourth Wrong Turn film are officially its inbred mutants! Hopefully this emphasis on killer over the meat for the beast roles carries over into the tone of the film. They are the reason we'll be watching after all.
I miss the days when the killers were the stars of the show. Still, I'm probably just reading into nothing at all, as a means to be hopeful. According to Winnipeg Free Press the role of "Three Finger" is being played by Sean Skene and "One Eye" is being played by his actor-brother Daniel Skene. Their father, Rick Skene, is the film’s stunt co-ordinator. Rounding out the killer trio is Winnipeg actor Scott Johnson as "Sawtooth."
Also cast are Jennifer Pudavick (Wishmaster III, Wishmaster IV, The Plague) as Kenia, a potential victim, and Tenika Davis.
