Pierce Brosnan has given his support to a gay James Bond, but has his doubts about it actually happening.
The Irish actor was talking about the legalisation of same-sex marriage in his homeland when the subject of a gay 007 came up.
Speaking to Details, his initial reply was: "Sure. Why not?"
However, he then added: "Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think Barbara [Broccoli, the James Bond producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing."
Brosnan's comments follow a homoerotic scene in Skyfall, which saw Javier Bardem's Silva express sexual interest in Daniel Craig's Bond.
When Silva unbuttoned his shirt and made a sexually-charged remark, Bond responded: "What makes you think this is my first time?"
At the time, Craig said that Bond is definitely not gay, and that Bardem's villain would "f**k anything".
Meanwhile, Brosnan also...

Chicago – I suppose it was only a matter of time before Sebastián Silva delved into the brooding waters of psychodrama. There are countless moments in his previous pictures—from Catalina Saavedra’s piercing Bette Davis stare in “The Maid” to Michael Cera’s hallucinogenic agony in “Crystal Fairy”—that threaten to spiral into horrifying derangement.
How sad that Silva’s meticulously executed, visually stunning “Magic Magic” has been dumped on DVD by the unfeeling hands of Sony, while the director’s inferior “Crystal Fairy” scored a limited theatrical release. Not only is “Magic” an exponentially better film than “Fairy,” it’s also one of the most gripping portraits of a psychological meltdown in recent memory (it would’ve made a fine big screen double bill with Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”). Relegating any film co-lensed by Christopher Doyle (“In the Mood for Love”) to a small screen premiere is a...

Writer/director Sebastián Silva already “Wow’ed” me this year with his independent road-trip “comedy” Crystal Fairy, so I happily jumped at the chance to tackle his other summer release, Magic Magic. Also taking place in Chile, this story of a vacationing American is a much darker, sinister, and psychologically abusive tale, with Michael Cera returning to play an awkwardly terrifying exchange student named Brink. Silva trades laughs for tension this time around, shooting for his version of a grounded horror film, which is apparent through his indistinguishably independent delivery yet again. I absolutely loved his psychedelic take on the comedy genre, but how did his first foray into “horror” go? As quirkily as you would have imagined.

Michael Cera terrorizes Chile in Magic Magic.
Michael Cera (Youth in Revolt), Juno Temple (Killer Joe), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) and Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace) star in the 2013 thriller Magic Magic from Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Silva (The Maid).
Far from home, Alicia (Temple) arrives in South America Chile to vacation with her cousin, Sarah (Browning). When Sarah is suddenly called away, Alicia is stuck on a remote island off Chile with three of Sarah’s friends, including Barbara (Moreno) and Brink (Cera), an American exchange student with a sadistic streak. Off-balance and unable to sleep, Alicia begins to spiral into a nightmarish scenario that includes ancient indigenous rites, disturbing animal behavior, hypnotic trances, and the growing threat of danger.
The R-rated film makes its commercial premiere in the U.S. on DVD following its rollout to the Cannes, Sundance and Edinburgh film festivals.

Magic Magic
Written and directed by Sebastián Silva
Chile/USA, 2013
It’s become something of a cliché to draw links between any claustrophobic discomfort piece and the work of Roman Polanski. Magic Magic not only has the chamber piece qualities of the man’s apartment films and Carnage, but also the island locale and proximity to paralyzing waters of films like Knife in the Water, Cul-de-sac and The Ghost Writer; furthermore, it also shares a blonde protagonist losing her grip on reality à la Repulsion. It’s an easy film to play ‘Spot the Roman’ with, but the comparison is valid and not just superficial checklist-ticking in this case. If, as a whole, it never reaches the same heights of quality as the best of Polanski’s more horror-inclined films, Sebastián Silva’s unnerving and enigmatic thriller has scenes that certainly stand up to worthy association.

Identikit: Silva’s Eerie Genre Effort an Unsettling Throwback
Harkening back to a genre of women and madness features that populated plenty of classic titles from the late 60s and 70s, Sebastian Silva’s second film starring Michael Cera to be unveiled at Sundance 2013 is the excellently crafted descent, Magic Magic. Recalling classic Polanski titles, like Repulsion (1965) and The Tenant (1975) or Altman’s Images (1972), Silva presents us with a scenario seemingly layered with symbolism and supernatural–even sadistic–undercurrents, though the possibility always remains that perhaps our minds are simply seeing what we want to be seeing.
Sarah (Emily Browning) is an exchange student in Santiago, Chile, and she has planned a fun filled trip for her group of friends, which includes her boyfriend Agustin (Agustin Silva), his sister Barbara (Catalina Sandno Moreno), and their mutual friend, Brink (Michael Cera). Joining them from abroad is Sarah’s cousin, Alicia (Juno Temple...

"Once," a contained sweet musical set in an Irish pub, leads the 66th Annual Tony Awards nominations with 11 nods. Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory") and Kristin Chenoweth ("Gcb") announced the nominees from the New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.
The incredibly vibrant Broadway season comes to a climax Sunday, June 10, with the broadcast of the annual awards. Neil Patrick Harris hosts the CBS live awards show from Manhattan's Beacon Theater.
"Once," based on the 2006 film, features musician-actors playing instruments and enchanting the audience. The Gershwin brothers continue to rack up honors, with two of their well known scores fueling two musicals with 10 nominations each: "The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It."

"Your emotional intelligence suffers and in a way you lose your own identity because you start to identify with the family that you live with, which is not from your same social class, and you misinterpret many things." - Is it still possible to win a major film festival award with a shoe-string budget? Well, Sebastian Silva did so earlier this year with The Maid – his $300,000 price tagged production was awarded Sundance's World Cinema Jury Prize (Dramatic), which is several nickels and dimes less than a film such as Lee Daniels' Precious. The Chilean filmmaker struggled to get his second movie made, Chile's film industry is perhaps still in the developing stages. Silva's first film, La vida me mata, was a critical success in Chile but his second movie, The Maid, is a little bit of a rarity, it managed to get distribution for the U.S.
