Four days after Lisa Marie’s memorial service, her loved ones headed to court after Priscilla filed a petition questioning the validity of a 2016 amendment to her daughter’s living trust. After Lisa Marie Presley’s death in 2023, rumors swirled that Priscilla Presley and her granddaughter Riley Keough were squabbling over the Elvis Presley estate. In spite of the rumors, both Presley and Keough have denied that there is any love lost between them. Presley said that any coverage that claimed otherwise was patently false.
Priscilla Presley said she and Riley Keough were not on bad terms after Lisa Marie Presley’s death
Though Presley and Elvis divorced in 1973, four years before his death, she became the co-executor of his estate. With her help, the Elvis Presley estate grew incredibly profitable, bolstered by licensing deals and a museum at Graceland.
Lisa Marie Presley was Elvis’ sole heir and, in 2016, she replaced Priscilla and Barry Siegel as co-trustees with Keough and her brother Benjamin. Priscilla was not aware of the change and filed a petition questioning the authenticity of her daughter’s will following her death.

As the only child of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley stood to inherit his estate upon his death in August 1977. However, she was just 9 when Elvis died, so it was held in trust for her until she turned 25. How much was the king of rock and roll’s estate worth when Lisa Marie inherited it?

Although Lisa Marie Presley inherited Elvis’ estate in 1977, she didn’t obtain complete control of it until she turned 25 in 1993. The total amount of his assets in 1977 was $5M.
After 21 years of steady work, Elvis had little to show for his dedication to making music, movies, and touring. His excessive spending kept him on the road up until his death to recoup the losses he was incurring.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Keough diplomatically summed up the conflict that emerged after Lisa Marie’s death. “When my mom passed, there was a lot of chaos in every aspect of our lives,” she said. “Everything felt like the carpet had been ripped out, and the floor had melted from under us.

The sudden death of Lisa Marie Presley on Jan. 12 sent shockwaves throughout the world and left her immediate family devastated. Lisa Marie, the only child of rock-and-roll icon Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, was in the spotlight with her family for the latter half of 2022 due to the widespread acclaim of Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis," starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. On all fronts, Lisa Marie's family, including her mother and eldest daughter Riley Keough, appeared to be as close-knit as ever, but following her death in January 2023, reports of tension between the two over Lisa Marie's trust complicated her legacy.

Riley Keough, the grandchild of Elvis Presley, today was named the sole trustee of the estate of her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley.
The appointment was approved during a hearing Friday before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lynn Healey Scaduto.
Priscilla Presley had filed a petition to challenge the validity of her late daughter Lisa Marie’s will in January. The legal action disputed a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s will that excised Priscilla as trustee of the estate. Priscilla Presley’s attorneys said she only became aware of the “purported 2016 amendment” after Lisa Marie’s death. Lawyers also contend the amendment was never delivered to their client during Lisa Marie’s lifetime
The amendment removes Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-trustees and replaces them with Lisa Marie’s eldest children Riley and Benjamin Keough. The latter died in 2020.

Lisa Marie Presley Died From Small Bowel Obstruction From Weight-Loss Surgery, Medical Examiner Says
According to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, Lisa Marie Presley‘s death on January 13 was due to a “sequelae of small bowel obstruction.” The sequelae was caused by “adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery years ago.” The findings also stated that Presley suffered cardiac arrest while at her home and died while she was in the hospital.
According to Cleveland Clinic, small bowel obstruction occurs when there is “a partial or complete blockage of the small intestine.” In this case, the obstruction was caused by bariatric surgery, which involves changing one’s digestive system to help lose weight.
The singer was rock and roll legend Elvis Presley‘s only child. Lisa Marie was last seen publicly days before her death with her mother, Priscilla, at the Golden Globes. The 2022 biopic about Elvis was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Actor in the drama categories.

Riley Keough will pay her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, a $1 million lump-sum payment as a settlement that will mark the end of the battle over the estate of her late mother Lisa Marie Presley.
In addition, Keough, 34, has agreed to pay $400,000 to cover Priscilla’s legal fees after her grandmother, 78, petitioned a judge to reject a 2016 amendment to their living trust as “invalid.”
The legal dispute began just a few weeks after Lisa Marie’s death earlier this year. Because she did not make a will, her living trust was made responsible for dealing with her assets. Neither Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla Presley, or her 33-year-old daughter, Riley Keough, were in attendance for the hearing, which was held in a Los Angeles court regarding Lockwood’s petition to represent the twins in the family’s ongoing trust battle.
The musician’s lawyer, Scott Rahn, said he was “ready, able and willing to protect their interests” before judge, Lynn Healey Scaduto, granted the request, as per People.

Priscilla Presley has stated that there is “no feud” between her and Riley Keough following the death of Lisa Marie Presley.
Lisa Marie, the only daughter of Priscilla and Elvis Presley, died in January aged 54 after suffering cardiac arrest.
Weeks after her death, Priscilla made a challenge to the “authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie’s will, citing an unusual signature and other allegedly inconsistent details.
Further reports have suggested that Priscilla is no longer speaking to her granddaughter and Lisa Marie’s daughter, actor Keough, due to the legal dispute.
However, Priscilla has now shut down rumours of a “feud” between the family members.
Speaking in Newcastle as part of her An Evening with Priscilla Presley tour, the 77-year-old was asked if she was still in contact with her granddaughter.
“We are just fine,” she insisted.
Priscilla’s legal challenge concerns a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s living trust.

Following the death of Lisa Marie, Elvis Presley‘s daughter, in January of this year, Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley have been fighting in a legal battle over Lisa Marie’s will.
In 1993, Lisa Marie inherited the Graceland estate from her late father. Originally, Marie had Priscilla and former business manager Barry Siegel as trust managers, but this was amended in 2016. Currently, the will reads that Riley and Benjamin Keough, Lisa Marie’s children, will be made the trust managers.
Since Benjamin died in 2020, Riley is the sole executor of the will.
Priscilla contested the will, questioning its authenticity. Priscilla’s lawyers claimed the will misspelled her name and had an unusual signature and have filled with the Los Angeles Superior Court.
In light of this, Keough changed the locks on the doors of the estate, effectively locking out her grandmother.

Lisa Marie Presley was always clear about who she wanted to leave Graceland to, according to Elvis Presley Enterprises managing partner, Joel Weinshanker.
Joel made an appearance on Sirius Xm’s Elvis Radio on Wednesday, Feb.1, which would have been Lisa Marie’s 55th birthday. She passed away suddenly on Jan. 12.
Joel said of Graceland, “Everyone knew that when Elvis passed away, he left everything to his little girl. He did so knowing that she would be the one to keep his legacy going,” People reported.
“We got along so well because we were both trying to do what was best for Elvis, regardless of what somebody else was trying to do, regardless of what a family member would do,” he continued.
“Lisa couldn’t be bought, she couldn’t be pushed. If she felt that something wasn’t in Elvis’ best interest, it was never about money. And she...

Priscilla Presley has filed a petition to dispute the will her late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. The documents, filed Thursday, question an amendment to Lisa’s living trust that removes Priscilla and her manager as trustees and replaces them with Lisa’s children, Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough. Benjamin is deceased.
Lisa, the only child of Elvis Presley, died in January after suffering a cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles County coroner has not yet confirmed a cause of death. As she did not file a will, her living trust serves to distribute her assets after her death.
Since the 1990s, Priscilla and her manager Barry Siegel have been the heads of a trust that manages the Presley estate, which includes the intellectual property of Elvis. Priscilla alleges that her daughter made the amendment in 2016 without delivering the amendment to her first, as required by the trust’s terms. It was also never notarized or witnessed.

Actress Priscilla Presley has filed a petition to challenge the validity of her late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s will. Lisa Marie died on January 12 at age 54 after suffering cardiac arrest.
Her mother’s legal action disputes a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s will that excised Priscilla as trustee of the estate. However, Priscilla Presley’s lawyers argue that the document misspelled her name and bears a signature that “appears inconsistent with (Lisa Marie’s) usual and customary signature,” according to multiple media reports.
In the filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court last Thursday, Priscilla Presley’s attorneys said she only became aware of the “purported 2016 amendment” after Lisa Marie’s death. Lawyers also contend the amendment was never delivered to their client during Lisa Marie’s lifetime, “as required by the express terms of the trust,” and that the document was neither witnessed nor notarized.

Priscilla Presley has made a challenge to the “authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie Presley’s will, citing an unusual signature and other allegedly inconsistent details.
Lisa Marie, the only daughter of Priscilla and music icon Elvis Presley, died at 54 on 12 January after suffering cardiac arrest. She was laid to rest on 22 January at Elvis’s Graceland estate.
Priscilla is now calling into question a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s living trust – a document that can serve as a will if a separate document had not been filed at the time of a person’s death.
The amendment removed Priscilla and former business manager Barry Siegel as the trustee of Lisa Marie’s estate and replaced them with two of the “Lights Out” singer’s children: the actor Riley Keough and singer Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020.
However, according to Priscilla’s legal team, there are issues with...

A Presley estate battle is brewing.
In a petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, Priscilla Presley challenges the will of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. She questions the “authenticity and validity” of a 2016 amendment that replaced her and former business manager Barry Siegel as co-trustees with Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter Riley Keough and deceased son Benjamin Keough.
Lisa Marie Presley died on Jan. 12 after suffering cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California. The singer and only child of Elvis Presley was 54.
Priscilla Presley and Siegel currently serve as the heads of a trust created in 1993 to manage the Presley estate. The Promenade Trust kept a 15 percent stake in Elvis Presley enterprises, which owns the singer’s intellectual property, after Lisa Marie Presley sold 85 percent of the company’s assets for roughly 100 million.
After her daughter’s death, Priscilla Presley says she discovered a document changing the trust.

Priscilla Presley is contesting “the authenticity and validity” of a “purported 2016 amendment” to Lisa Marie Presley‘s trust naming Riley Keough a co-trustee, claiming “there are many issues surrounding” it and, therefore, the judge should declare the amendment invalid.
According to court documents, obtained by Et, Priscilla filed legal documents Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court challenging the 2016 amendment that named Lisa Marie’s children — Riley and Benjamin Keough — as co-trustees. In the docs, Priscilla claims she and Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, were appointed co-trustees on Jan. 29, 1993 when Lisa Marie “executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on Jan. 27, 2010.” Priscilla added “both the 1993 original trust and 2010 restatement appear to be carefully drafted by competent estate planning attorneys.”

Nothing educates the public about estate law (and, sometimes, probate litigation) like the death of a celebrity. The passing of Lisa Marie Presley is likely no exception. High-profile deaths often shine a light on the sometimes complex post-death proceedings to shuttle a person’s wealth to his or her heirs or beneficiaries — assuming the estate is solvent when all is said and done and there is something to distribute. This process is referred to as “post-death administration” and, often, with famous decedents, it is marred by complications such as pending lawsuits and claims by creditors. By all accounts, it appears Ms. Presley’s estate will encounter the same fate.
Ms. Presley’s untimely death presents complex estate administration issues that will need to be sorted out in the coming months and, likely, years. What typically happens, or should happen, when a person dies is for her representative (i.e. executor...
