- William Shea was born on October 6, 1856 in Dumfries, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, UK. He was an actor, known for Davy Jones' Parrot (1910), Davy Jones and Captain Bragg (1910) and Davy Jones' Domestic Troubles (1910). He died on November 5, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
- According to "Theatre" magazine, December 1918, p. 392: " . . . the oldest moving picture actor in the country in years of service, and the first comedian of the Vitagraph Company, died suddenly of heart disease, at his Brooklyn residence.".
- Not to be confused with William E. Shay (b. 1867), who worked primarily for Carl Laemmle at IMP.
