Underscoring a push into more ambitious productions in Latin America, Star Plus, The Walt Disney Company’s year-old general entertainment and sports streaming service in the region, presented an early banner production, “Santa Evita,” at Conecta Fiction & Entertainment in a gala screening on June 22.
Attendees of the Toledo, Spain-based forum got an exclusive preview of the pilot episode to the seven-part limited series, which is set to bow July 26 on Star Plus Latin America, Hulu in the U.S. and Disney’s Star label in the rest of the world.
“Santa Evita” anticipates more “true life fiction” shows that Star Plus is developing, based on larger-than-life figures in Latin America’s culture and history.
“We’re serving several markets, and in order to connect with our audiences, we’re developing stories about people they know, whose stories they know,” said Leonardo Aranguibel, VP, head of production operations & strategy, The Walt Disney Company Latin America,...

Game on. In a bold move to reenergize São Paulo’s production scene, city authorities are bowing Brazil’s inaugural rebate scheme for international and local shoots, launching a call for applications on July 6, the first day of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Since the turn of the century São Paulo consolidated its place as Brazil’s foremost film-tv hub and the biggest, with Mexico City, in Latin America. And now shoots have returned.
Pre-pandemic, Brazil’s financial capital served as one of the backdrops to the Keanu Reeves-produced dystopian sci-fi series “Conquest” as well as “Black Mirror” episode “Striking Vipers,” Amazon Prime’s “September Mornings,” the Wachowskis’ “Sense8,” and multiple other shows from Netflix, as well as Amazon Prime, Disney and Fox.
Among projects filming in the city now are Netflix’s “De volta aos 15” and Fox’s “Silvio Santos.”

There's nothing quite like seeing innocent, unsuspecting people having the shit scared out of them. That's exactly what you're gonna get, too, in this frightening six-minute clip from a Brazilian talk show hosted by Silvio Santos.
Given that lots of people are scared of elevators to begin with, this is nothing short of a piece of chicken fried gold. The setup is deliciously simple...
During an elevator ride, the lights go out on the passenger. When they come back on, a ghostly little girl is found standing beside them. The reactions to this scenario are absolutely priceless and better than anything you're likely to see on that tepid "Scare Tactics" show, etc. Sit back. Relax. And enjoy. Then tell us in our comments section what You would have done in this situation!
Enough talk! Dig it!

One thing is for sure: prank shows in Brazil aren't fooling around. The Silvio Santos Program is responsible for this, probably the most terrifying prank we've ever seen. We're quite certain we would have just fallen on the floor in the fetal position and never stopped screaming. Ghost kids aren't funny. Especially not in tiny, enclosed spaces.
You win, Brazil.

Dear Internet, thank you. A video is making the rounds today from a Brazilian talk show host Silvio Santos' program and, I have to say, this is pretty brilliant.
Santos' show rigged a prank so folks entered what they thought was just a normal elevator. Ah, but the show's production team got their mitts on it and outfitted it with a few spooky elements.
During the elevator ride, the lights go out on the passenger and, when they come back on, a creepy little girl is found standing beside them. The six-minute video within features several different scenarious and passenger reactions; it also shows you how they pulled off the prank. This is great stuff....
