In The Marriage Lie, written by Cooney, Iris and Will have been married for seven years and life is as close to perfect as it can be. Another plane headed for upstate New York has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board and, according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers. Grief-stricken and confused, Iris is convinced it all must be a huge misunderstanding. Why did Will lie about where he was going? And what else has he lied about? As Iris sets off on...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

A Steampunk Series! Sure we’ve seen flashes of steampunk aesthetic used in shows from Warehouse 13 to the 1980s Beauty and the Beast all the way back to the 1960s The Wild Wild West, but this proposed show embraces the elements to the point of actually using it in the name of the series, Gaslight.
Admittedly, the premise isn’t what has us so excited; according to Deadline, it will be “a lavish soap opera of passion, greed and hope” at which point we nearly moved on without noting the crucial element: “Set In A Modern-day Steampunk World” (our emphasis, of course) “in which three rival families battle for power and redemption in a re-imagined San Francisco.” We are suddenly fans of lavish soap operas of passion, greed, and hope.

Just as Mitch Hurwitz, Jim Vallely, and Dean Lorey begin writing the new 10-episode season of the once-cancelled-and-recently-internet-greenlit Fox television show Arrested Development (scheduled to air on Netflix sometime in 2013), Crackle greenlights another entrant into the Long-Form-Content-of-Television-Quality-but-Distributed-Online fray. Andrew Wallenstein at Variety reports the digital network, studio, and destination for television programs, movies, and a healthy amount of original web series just ordered six episodes of a half-hour anthology series dubbed The Unkown. Sons of Anarchy producer Chris Collins and the Co-Head of Fox Writers Studio Steve Tzirlin are on board to executive produce. The Unkown will be in the vein of The X-Files, Creepshow, and/or Twilight Zone and is scheduled scheduled to go into production in March for a 2012 release. That’s almost a full year after Eric Berger, Executive Vice President of Digital Networks at Sony Pictures Television, announced Crackle would make a pivot into long-form, but still male-leaning programming.

Exclusive: ABC is going to the circus with Bazirkus, a soap from writer Mitch Kapner (Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful) and Sander/Moses (The Ghost Whisperer). Meanwhile, Fox continues to search for a new medical franchise with a script deal for a dramedy from Gossip Girl writer-producer Jessica Queller and Shawn Levy and Marty Adelstein’s 21 Laps/Adelstein Prods. Bazirkus is based loosely on 32-year-old Nicole Feld of Ringling Bros & Barnum and Bailey Circus, who grew up in the circus her grandfather bought in 1967 and has become the first female producer in Ringling Bros’ history. The ABC project, which will be set at a fictional circus, is a family/workplace soap about unfulfilled dreams and great expectations in the circus world where everyone is pushing the limits, personally and professionally, to reinvent themselves as they reinvent their world. “This is drama that brings the circus into the 21st century,...

Rumors had been circling of a retreat from web originals over at Sony’s 4-year-old online video network Crackle, as the usually heavy flow of short-form web series that would be its bread and butter over the past few years had dried to a trickle. Previous short-form (sub 10-min episode) web tentpoles like The Bannen Way, Angel of Death and Jailbait had found a business a morphing themselves into whatever medium was buying. But not enough to greenlight dozens of them this year. Then comes a bit of a bombshell yesterday afternoon in Variety, as Eric Berger, Executive VP of digital networks at Sony Pictures Television who oversees Crackle and other properties, announced the network was moving to a long-form strategy. It’s a pivot for the network, citing a shift in the marketplace and amongst its own audience who had grown fond of the site’s heavy helpings of...

You know around the DC offices we're total paranormal buffs. Still, not a single one of us could stomach watching the TV show "The Ghost Whisperer". Hopefully, though, the show's producers, Kim Moses and Ian Sander, can capture something of spectral interest with their latest shot at paranormal spookery, "Ghost Town" and "Ghost World".
Deadline Hollywood reports:
Sander and Moses’ reality project, tentatively called "Ghost Town", is a half-hour show that would feature well-known psychic Maureen Hancock as she goes "coast to coast calling up the past, seeing the future, and contacting spirits." Hancock travels the country in real-life, doing Postcards From Heaven shows.
Additionally, Moses and Sander are behind "Ghost World." Written by What About Brian creator Dana Stevens and produced by ABC Studios, it is about a ghost on the other side who helps an ambitious young female homicide detective solve crimes in the hopes of uncovering clues...

It came down last week that CBS canceled its Friday night supernatural drama "Ghost Whisperer," which was a bit surprising considering the network kept its Friday night spooky partner "Medium" and that "Whisperer" consistently won its time slot.
There were talks that the Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle would move to ABC but those rumors have been nixed by Executive Producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander. "After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce 'Ghost Whisperer' will not be returning for a sixth season," the EPs said in a statement.
Never fear, Jlw fans! She will be hitting the screen in Marc Erlbaum's drama "Cafe" later this year, which tells the story of tragedy striking a small community and the realization of how the lives of regular cafe customers are entwined.
What say you, "Ghost Whisperer" fans? Sad it won't be crossing over to ABC?...

Many actors are officially out of a job after the major series culling that most networks performed in the last few months, one that saw the cancellation of many shows across the genre spectrum. One of the more notable casualties was the popular CBS paranormal-thriller, Ghost Whisperer. A show that followed a psychic antique store owner (Jennifer Love Hewitt) on her adventures as she used her ability to solve mysteries and help the ghosts she encountered “move on“.
Having been officially cancelled just last week, fans raised up in arms mounting “Save the Show” campaigns of questionable effectiveness.
