Oppenheimer was a massive success and a new milestone for filmmaking, from the cast and crew and everyone else who contributed during the production was a recipe for Oscar nominations, and wins but one aspect of any film or television that elevates the story is music and composer Ludwig Göransson deserved the win but upset the gaming community in the process.
Göransson also composed the score for other great films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even won an Oscar for Black Panther, he later worked on the sequel: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and scored the first two Creed films and his first project with the legendary visionary Christopher Nolan was Tenet, as well for the Star Wars series on Disney+ The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. The talent he possesses is monumental, however the gaming community was offended by his recent victory speech.

Sega has announced a brand new entry in the Valkyria Chronicles, which will bring the franchise back to its tactical RPG roots, will arrive next year on all modern consoles, including the Switch! Come inside to check out the debut trailer and details on the upcoming story!
If you weren't exactly thrilled with the action spinoff Valkyra Revolution, (which takes place in the same world, but diverges greatly in terms of gameplay), you'll be happy to know the hybrid turn-based/shooting tactical gameplay is making a return. It's been nearly a decade since the third main entry in the franchise, but next year will see the launch of Valkyria Chronicles 4; diving players back into the wartorn alternate history with a brand new squad and story.
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am. I love strategy games, and missed out on the franchise until it's HD remaster on the PS4 last year.

The upcoming gorgeous iOS RPG Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey has revealed a spotlight on its final character as the launch date approaches. Zodiac is a gorgeous upcoming RPG linked to the Final Fantasy series, as Final Fantasy VII scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and Final Fantasy Tactics composer Hitoshi Sakimoto collaborated on the game.
The newest character trailer reveals Dagmar, who is a member of the Orsa race. The massive Dagmar has been engaged on a decade long quest for vengeance across the land of Orcanon, following an act of atrocity against his family from the nefarious Scion Hunter. Dagmar joins Cael, our protagonist, and his party along the way, learning that they share common interests – like beating the snot out of monsters.
Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey has been billed as a persistent online role playing game, and it’ll be coming to iOS sometime in November 2015. It’s got gorgeous visuals, a beautiful soundtrack,...

When conductor Arnie Roth uttered the word “remake” when discussing Final Fantasy Xii over the weekend, fans of the PS2 RPG couldn’t help but get excited.
The comment was made during the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert held in Pittsburgh, fuelling speculation that Square would overhaul the sequel in the vein of Final Fantasy VII. However, taking to the official Facebook page (via Eurogamer), Roth has clarified that the term was “used in error,” though he didn’t necessarily rule out a potential HD remaster.
Dear friends,
In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh.
Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy 12, regrettably, the term “remake” was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

Looking for a 2D shooter with 3D graphics, like Gradius V? Then check out the Kickstarter for Pythetron...
As far as I'm concerned, Konami's 2004 sequel Gradius V should have marked a new dawn for the side-scrolling shooter. It showed what a talented developer like Treasure could do with an old genre, an expanded budget and plenty of inspiration; it looked incredible, was full of great ideas and some stunning music courtesy of Hitoshi Sakimoto.
Instead, Gradius V seemed to mark the end of an era. A download-only title called Gradius Rebirth aside, Konami hasn't returned to the genre, and we haven't seen an old-school shooter made on the same scale since.
Which brings us untidily to a game called Pythetron, which is the product of game designer T J Townsend. A 2D shooter made with 3D graphics, it clearly shares some of the Gradius series' DNA - it's full of eye-searing laser effects,...

Once an arcade mainstay, the side-scrolling shooter seems to be dwindling from existence. Ryan looks back at a sadly neglected genre...
In a furious blast of energy, a pair of classic shooters arrived in 2004: the PlayStation 2 titles R-Type Final and Gradius V. Coupling traditional side-scrolling action with up-to-the-minute, often quite striking graphics and sound, the games took the genre from late 20th century arcades and into our 21st century living rooms.
Yet even as these games offered up a sharp refinement of a tried-and-trusted relic from gaming’s silver age, they also signalled what now appears to be the genre’s epitaph. Even as R-Type Final showed how polished a side-scrolling shooter could look on a current-gen console, and Gradius V hinted at some fresh ideas which could be explored further in the future, these games brought their respective franchises to an end.
So what went wrong? Why was this genre,...

Square Enix has today announced the forthcoming European release of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, a PSP reinvention of the classic Japanese strategy RPG.
The original Tactics Ogre is one of the most beloved strategy RPG titles of all time, with the game being the only one to place in the Japanese gaming magazine Weekly Famitsu’s “Top 20 Games voted by readers” for 14 years running. Sadly, the original version of the game was never officially published in Europe, however, that is about to be rectified in spectacular fashion. From the press release:
Having also worked on such hit titles as Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Xii, key members of the original Tactics Ogre development team have reformed to deliver the ultimate version of this definitive strategy RPG experience. Hiroshi Minagawa (Director), Akihiko Yoshida (Character Design), Yasumi Matsuno (Game Design), Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata (Composers) are...
