Steven Rumbelow, the British-born writer and producer whose 45-year career includes the 2005 paranormal “reality” series Beyond that’s become a staple of its genre, has died. He was 66. His February 27 death from sepsis was reported by his wife Rachel Rumbelow. Beyond, which had a first run in Canada from 2005-07 but has made the rounds of American cable (via Comcast) and various digital platforms (currently Hulu), was developed by the writer-director for the indie…...

Director, writer and producer: Steven Rumbelow. Not many paranormal documentaries manage to succeed to captivate audiences like "Beyond." Not many students of the occult have the opportunity to see this Canadian produced series either. Comcast has the broadcast rights in the States and it is supposedly available as video on demand. Space! The Imagination Station used to air the series and this rare gem really needed a DVD release. Thankfully, the producers have listened and Renegade Pictures manufactures on-demand discs for enthusiasts looking for a serious study of paranormal activity, monstrous legends, fictional lore and forgotten conspiracies. The most fascinating episode has to be on “Old Father Christmas,” the first episode of series four. Maybe the pagan version of this not so jolly figure was a partial inspiration for the Dutch movie, Sint (Saint). Although this product looks very dated against glitzier productions from rivaling publishing houses, the show’s.

*Full disclosure: a novel version of the book was provided by David Moody for review.
Author: David Moody.
Autumn is writer David Moody's second book written, with Straight to You his first. Autumn was available online in 2001 and this format led to the novel being downloaded over a half million times (Moody). This zombie styled book has infected other pages. Currently, Autumn: The City is the sequel to this book and Autumn: Purification closed out the trilogy. The undead hordes spread with a companion novel titled Autumn: The Human Condition and two more novels are being written as part of this post-apocalyptic series. Autumn was made into a poor movie by Steven Rumbelow ("Beyond") in 2009 and this novel, while slow, develops an evolutionary arc for the re-animated masses.
An unknown source causes a virulent pandemic, with: "more than 99% of the population of the planet [being] killed...

After muscling through the first 15 minutes of Autumn (a viewing experience not unlike dropping a bottle of Quaaludes and watching the apocalypse happen through a stained glass window) I was relieved to discover that Steven Rumbelow's low budget zombie apocalypse film was not the cheapo snooze-fest I was half expecting it to be, but a decent indie character piece that handles the survival drama with a touch of class. No, this film isn't perfect (in fact, technically speaking it's a complete gong show at times), but with David Moody's great cult novel backing it up, a wild walk-on performance by the late David Carradine and zombies that would make Romero proud, Autumn proved a worthy enough Sunday afternoon diversion for this reviewer and a film I fully expect will...

One of David Caradine's last movies, “Autumn,” has completed production, and it is currently being sent to reviewers and distribution companies. Although it has no release date yet, the website offers stills, the trailer, the poster, and a fond farewell to Caradine. Autumn is a Canadian-made zombie film directed by Steven Rumbelow and is based on a novel of the same name. The film takes place in Ontario and focuses around four survivors of a zombie apocalypse trying to stay alive. To make matters worse, the infected seem to be regaining their senses and become more clever and aggressive. The film also stars Dexter Fletcher (“Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels”). By the looks of the trailer, this appears to be your average low-budget zombie flick, but with the critical praise of the novel- Caradine at the helm- this could be a fun a ride.
