As House Republicans tried this week (and then backed down in the face of public outrage) to weaken the nonpartisan office in charge of investigating lawmaker and staff misconduct, People took a look back at some of the most eyebrow-raising ways public and campaign funds have been used by politicians.
When official spending takes a turn for the personal—and, sometimes, downright weird—it’s not always illegal. But, even it doesn’t lead to jail time, it can ruin careers.

While most of the men on Wisteria Lane were either schemers, cheaters, stalkers, or killers, they were all pretty to look at. Desperate Housewives provided us with some dreamboats like the shirtless Mike Delfino (James Denton) and John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe) as well as some men we feared. In honor of still thinking about these hunks 10 years since we first met them, we’re ranking each and every man of Fairview purely based on who we’d want as our real life husbands. We even asked star Dana Delany (Katherine Mayfair) to play Do, Mary, Kill with them. What? Like you haven’t thought about it?
Whether you prefer a stay-at-home, super-dad like Tom Scalvo (Doug Savant), ambitious politician with a crazy side like Victor Lang (John Slattery), or a protective, controlling businessman like Carlos Solis (Ricardo Chavira), there was most definitely a man for you on the lane.

The success of hit series Desperate Housewives paved the way for the return of classic Us soap opera Dallas, according to a star of both shows.
Jesse Metcalfe is one of the newcomers in the revamped version of the 1980s drama, which also features former stars Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray, with Larry Hagman reprising his role as Jr Ewing.

The Dallas cast gathered in central London for the UK launch of the 10-part series about the struggles of the oil-rich Ewing clan, which will air on Channel 5 next month.

He said: "I think Desperate Housewives definitely took its cue from the original Dallas. There's no doubt about that.

In TNT’s sexy “Dallas” reboot, actress Julie Gonzalo ("Eli Stone," "Veronica Mars") plays Rebecca Sutter, the love interest of Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe).
We asked the Argentinean actress what it was like to make out with the handsome Metcalfe (who is best known for his role as Eva Longoria's lover John Rowland on ABC's "Desperate Housewives.") Here's what the 30-year-old actress revealed exclusively to The Huffington Post.
"To be honest, those scenes, the kissing scenes, or the more passionate scenes, are always more uncomfortable to do. Those are the ones that you're like, 'oh no, oh God.' But we make it really fun and we make it very easy on ourselves. We just laugh along the way," she said.
Asked how she managed to get through those "uncomfortable" scenes, Gonzalo said, "It's difficult. Those scenes are always uncomfortable—no matter who you are. At least in my mind I think they are.

Chicago – Dust off your cowboy hat and power bolo ties, the legendary TV show ‘Dallas’ is about to launch again, June 13th, on the TNT Network. Returning as the Ewing family are Larry Hagman (J.R.), Patrick Duffy (Bobby) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen), joined with the new Ewings, Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher) and Barbara Strong (Anne).
Metcalfe and Strong both have television cache as cast members of the recently departed series “Desperate Housewives.” Metcalfe played John Rowland – the hot gardener friend of Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle – for five seasons. Brenda Strong was the voice and conscience of the show, she portrayed deceased Wisteria Lane resident Mary Alice Young, who narrated each episode.
Both actors joined this “continuation” of the TV series “Dallas,” which originally ran on CBS-tv from 1978 to 1991. TNT Network has picked up the show as if it never left the air, with Metcalfe and Strong as members of the Ewing clan,...

Jesse Metcalfe is eager to make a cameo in the final season of Desperate Housewives, insisting it's "appropriate" he returns to the show he helped launch in 2004.
The star played hunky gardener John Rowland in the first series of the hit, and regularly made appearances as the lover of Eva Longoria's character Gabrielle Solis.
And Metcalfe admits he's keen to return for one last time during the show's upcoming eighth and final season.
He tells the Press Association, "I would definitely be open to it. It seems appropriate, seeing as I was part of the birth and the initial success of the show, to bring me back for the final season.
"But we'll see if there's interest there. I do think it's the right time. It was a very successful show and it'll be forever ingrained in the public consciousness."...

Jesse Metcalfe has said that there is "more" to him than being a "sex symbol". The actor, best known for his role as gardener John Rowland in Desperate Housewives, told The Mirror that he hears "X-rated" chat-up lines from female fans. Metcalfe told the paper: "There is definitely more to me than my physical appearance, but I have to embrace it. It's not the worst thing in the world, having that sex symbol status. "You need to have a bit of a sense of humour about yourself, though - I get asked to take my top off on a daily basis." Metcalfe continued: "I do have the cheesiest of cheesy chat-up lines used on me. Like, 'Will you come do my gardening?' or a variation on that. It's quite shocking how X-rated it gets. Veteran actor Larry Hagman recently guest-starred on Desperate Housewives and there's certainly no shortage of Wisteria Lane veterans heading for TNT's new Dallas pilot.
Jesse Metcalfe, Gabbie's boy-toy John Rowland, will play Christopher, the grown up adopted son of Pam (Victoria Principal) and Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy). Josh Henderson, who played Edie's hunky nephew, will play John Ross, the son of J.R. (Hagman) and Sue-Ellen Ewing (Linda Gray).
Now Brenda Strong, Housewives' deceased narrator Mary Alice Young, has joined the cast of the new TNT project. She'll be playing the current wife of Bobby Ewing, Ann. Word is that Ann is quite strong-willed, not unlike Ewing matriarch Miss Ellie (played by the late Barbara Bel Geddes). Since she usually doesn't appear on-camera on Housewives, if the new Dallas becomes a series she probably won't have to leave the ABC TV show.

After watching last night's Desperate Housewives, we think it's time for the show to revisit executing the element of surprise.
Last night marked the reappearance of Zack Young (Cody Kapsch), Mary Alice and Paul Young's "son", in nearly four years. The problem is that his return was the cliffhanger 'shocker' at the end of the episode, but the surprise was ruined when Cody Kapsch's name appeared in the guest starring credits. So we knew he was going to eventually appear. It just became a matter of when and how. As the show reached the final leg of the night, it was easy to notice Zach as the "flower guy" despite the disguise he wore. However, the whole planting of the gun in Bree's house somewhat salvaged the surpise of Zach's return and added a new layer to the 'Who Shot Paul Young?' mystery.

So the crazy returned to Wisteria Lane last night in the form of Katherine, while the drama of John Rowland ended (finally) and The “Bolens” finally get interesting. Plus, Lynette’s assets serve as comedic fodder this week. But I am getting ahead of myself and I actually want you to read this detailed recap so let’s get to it.
Bree Vs. The Fatal Attraction That is Katherine
Katherine has been up since three o’ clock cooking the entire menu for a party she and Bree are catering. The motivation? She’s in love. Bree’s ecstatic for Katherine until she finds out that Katherine’s ‘suitor’ is Mike. Katherine thinks that since she saw the Defino's den light go out at 3 A.M. that there’s trouble in paradise for Mike and Susan. Bree, check the pot for cooked rabbit if it’s not on the menu already.

Jesse Metcalfe has revealed that he would return to Desperate Housewives on a more permanent basis if asked. Speaking to TV Guide, Metcalfe - John Rowland on the ABC series - also said that he is pleased with his character's new direction. "John Rowland was a very naive, wide-eyed boy in a very complex, adult affair," he said. "But now, coming back five years later, being 28, divorced, a restaurateur and a businessman, [he has] different motivations and a different thought process. "[He is] slightly more manipulative, which makes him more interesting." (more)...

Jesse Metcalfe got so aroused during sex scenes with Eva Longoria, he was too embarrassed to get out of bed.
The actor got turned on by his "Desperate Housewives" co-star, when they rehearsed steamy scenes for the show between his gardener character John Rowland and Eva's housewife Gabriella Solis.
Asked how he prevented himself from getting sexually excited and "popping a wheelie" during an interview with radio station 106.5 Sacramento, he said: "It happens. It doesn't happen that frequently because there are a lot of people on set, and it can be very technical, but it happens from time to time."
The interviewer then responded by asking if he suffered trouser embarrassment with Eva.

This week’s Desperate Housewives had Susan going for the Psychotic Mother of the Year Award and her competition was Angie Bolen, if that’s Angie’s real name.
I am getting ahead of myself. Let’s recap!
Lynette’s Lie
Lynette and Tom reveal to the kids that they are about to get another set of siblings. How do Parker, Preston, and Penny take it? Parker thinks they were being irresponsible, Preston thinks it’s disgusting that they are still sexually active, and little Penny says she’s jumping ship if it’s another set of boys. So, would harshly fit the bill?
While Lynette preps herself to tell Carlos about her pregnancy, he promotes her to being his Senior VP, which Lynette refuses until he offers a 50% salary increase with the position. When Lynette asks why he didn’t give it to another woman up for the job,...

(S06E03) "You wanted to look pretty for your ex-lover." - Carlos to Gaby
As advertised on most TV sites over the past few weeks, the cutie gardener and Gaby's ex-lover is back! John Rowland, whom we last saw in season four married to a rich daddy's girl, returned to Wisteria Lane this week to cause chaos.
Is John still married? Did he try to seduce Gaby or another Wisteria Lane citizen? Answers coming up after the jump, along with my take on John's return, which was first rumored to happen in the season five finale.

Judging from the title alone, this Desperate Housewives episode can very well be Bree-centric. Then again, it can also be about Susan, or Gaby, or Katherine, or Lynette, or Angie. Fine, it can refer to anybody. On "Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover" Angie goes to great lengths to protect her son from the lingering suspicion that he's responsible for the attack on Julie.
Meanwhile, Bree is furious with Karl when she catches him at a restaurant with another woman. Yes, talk about tables being turned. We also get a surprise when someone from Gaby's past returns - John Rowland, her gardener with whom she had an affair. There's something different today, though. Yes, Ana, who exacerbates the problem when she offers to seduce him.

Attention, Desperate Housewives viewers:
Jesse Metcalfe is coming back to the show this season, and his character will pick up right where he left off.
Despite having been gone from Wisteria Lane for close to a decade (according to show time), Metcalfe told TV Guide Magazine that fans can expect more flirting between his character of John Rowland and Gabrielle Solis.
“I think there’s always a possibility for that to transpire. It’s a flame that has been dying hard,” he said.
During his two-episode stint - which begins in mid-October - Gabby won't be the only member of the Solid household with whom John gets involved.
“There’s a new little love triangle brewing, and Gabby’s niece is involved in said love triangle,” he said, adding: “It’s not as lecherous as it might sound. You just have to tune in and see where it goes.”
Not to worry,...

Jesse Metcalfe may have made a name for himself by showing off his impressive pecs playing gardener John Rowland on Desperate Housewives, but that doesn't mean he'll be stripping down when he reprises his role in the upcoming season of the hit ABC series. "I don't think we'll be seeing him shirtless," Eva Longoria Parker informed me yesterday. "You'll be seeing a very different John Rowland." Perhaps Longoria Parker can get Mr. Metcalfe to take off his shirt for charity... On Sept. 10, she's hosting Padres Contra el Cancer's ninth annual El Sueño de Esperanza fundraising gala and auction at the Hollywood Palladium with good friend George Lopez. Among...
