While working on “Shōgun,” costume designer Carlos Rosario created approximately 2,300 costumes for the FX limited series spanning 10 episodes.
“It was massive. It was a huge show and a huge crew. There were consultants on set that were checking every day to make sure that the dressing of each costume was accurate for each scene,” Rosario said.
“Shōgun” follows Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) on his quest to become the shōgun, the military leader of the nation, joined by his translator Lady Mariko (Anna Sawai) and English ally John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis). Because the series is set in 1600s Japan, Rosario had limited primary sources to study. After visiting every website and museum that had Japanese pieces from that period, he said what helped him the most was studying paintings from the 1600s and chatting with historians.
Since the series is rooted in history, Rosario was able to draw inspiration from the characters’ real-life counterparts.

The members of the audience who loved Jessica Jones during its successful run in the past might also remember the character of The Purple Man, a.k.a Kilgrave, played expertly by actor David Tennant. In fact, for many of the fans of the show, this antagonist may have been one of the most memorable parts of the series.
David Tennant as Kilgrave in a still from Jessica Jones
And despite the character being taken out of the equation in the series for good, the actor has time and time again expressed his desire to return to his role in the MCU. Yet again, the start has revealed how he would love to return as Kilgrave in the future, but this time, it seems highly likely that the star might make a return in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again under the Devil’s Reign storyline that will truly honor his character.

Rosario Dawson is going to take on a special new role in 2024 – grandmother!

Rosario adopted her daughter Isabella, 21, back in 2014 when she was 11 years old. At the time, the young girl was in foster care and Rosario knew her biological mother, so she decided to give her a permanent home.
“It wasn’t even a question; it was clearly meant to be,” Rosario told Health magazine in 2021.
While Rosario has kept Isabella out of the spotlight for most of her life, she did share photo of her on Father’s Day 2021 to thank her stepfather for being a great grandfather.

The new Netflix movie Mamasapano is an account of the tragic deaths of 44 policemen who died while trying to catch Philippines’ most wanted terrorists, Marwan and Usman, in the area of the Philippines known as Mamasapano. The film basically attacks the Philippine government of the time and questions its intentions towards its police force. The men were supposed to return safely to their families, but the infamous peace project meant that a ceasefire couldn’t be imposed, and the men continued to die. The film becomes a bureaucratic thriller, where insiders have a lot more information than they show to the media, hiding behind their plausible deniability. The way the movie’s made, it’s confusing at times to keep track of the 55th and the 84th Special Action Company (Sac), who were the main units who were massacred by the rebels of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (Milf).

Dusseldorf Germany-based Patra Spanou Film has snagged psychological suspense-thriller “Delirio” by Alexandra Latishev, a co-production between Chile’s Cyan Prods and Linterna Films of Costa Rica.
Backed by Costa Rica’s El Fauno fund and the Ibermedia program, the drama turns on 11-year-old Masha who, with her mother Elisa, moves into her ailing grandmother’s house. While everybody believes Masha’s father is dead, she rejects the idea. Elisa begins to feel a menacing presence around the house and so to protect Masha, she seals her off from the outside world.
“Alexandra [Latishev] and I previously collaborated on ‘Medea,’ her directorial debut, which Patra Spanou also handled,” said Cyan’s Cynthia Garcia Calvo. “Like ‘Medea,’ ‘Delirio’ addresses themes related to women’s experiences, particularly concerning violence against women,” said the Argentine-born producer, who added: “I was intrigued by the opportunity to explore this subject matter within the framework of a thriller.

This year’s selection, comprising 11 fiction and 10 documentaries, hails from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Peru, Spain and Brazil.
The primary focus of this space is to equip the projects with various tools to consider their audiences from the early development stages, as well as aspects related to distribution, international reach and circulation, according to Sanfic Industria head, Gabriela Sandoval.
“This call for submissions posed a significant selection challenge, as we once again received an unprecedented number of applications, all of which showcased projects of exceptional quality,” said Sandoval who added that online consultations run from Aug. 16 to 21 while in-person activities will take place from August 23 to 26. A final pitch is scheduled for Aug. 26 for both in-person and remote presentations.

This live-action spin off takes the character first created for the animated The Clone Wars series and brings her to life on screen to explore the depth of her story, continuing with her first live appearance in "The Mandalorian" Season 2 (in "Chapter 13: The Jedi"). Rosario Dawson stars as Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan, who was once Anakin Skywalker's apprentice. Savannah Steyn will play a younger Ahsoka. The full cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Ray Stevenson. The video only features footage from the first teaser with a look back at the story of Rosario getting the role, and Dave Filoni finally bringing her to live-action for the brand new series. I'm excited for the potential of this!

Lionsgate is on to its next pot of gold, after tapping director Felipe Vargas to helm a new film in the Leprechaun horror franchise, Deadline can confirm.
Details as to the film’s plot are under wraps, though it’s billed as a reimagining for a new generation of moviegoers. Script will be penned by Mike Van Waes, one of the writers on Disney’s new live-action Lilo & Stitch film. Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon will produce, with Meredith Wieck and Jon Humphrey to oversee for Lionsgate, following Dan Freedman’s negotiating of deals for the studio.
Warwick Davis starred as a vengeful leprechaun in six Leprechaun films put out following Lionsgate’s acquisition of Trimark Pictures back in 2000, though he’s not expected to return. Jennifer Aniston also memorably appeared in the first title in the franchise, with the most recent entry, Leprechaun Returns, being released in...

The “Will & Grace” reboot’s political focus almost cost the hit NBC sitcom its syndication rights, co-creator Max Mutchnick revealed during a 25th anniversary panel discussion at the Paley Center for Media on Monday night.
“What was built into the architecture of the show was that we had Karen who was obviously going to be a Trump supporter. And it’s like, ‘Oh, this will be such a good, fertile place to write.’ And we shot this thing and I sent it to our lawyer and he said, ‘Just get ready to lose all of your syndication,'” Mutchnick said. “There’s a thing that if you change the essence of the show, that it no longer stands for what it originally stood for, then you tamper with the possibility of its earning potential.”
He came up with the idea for the revival while on a trip to London with his husband.

Zach Heinzerling, the director of the Hulu docuseries “Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence,” really wants people to know that cults aren’t strictly limited to being religious in nature. “A cult is essentially any power imbalance or manipulative relationship between more than one person. Usually the examples we have of cults have been kind of seemingly esoteric groups of people that the average person can’t relate to,” he tells Gold Derby during our recent Meet the Experts: TV Documentaries panel (watch the exclusive video interview above).
He goes on to explain that this has also been a focus for one of the cult’s survivors, Daniel Levin, by showing a group that audiences could empathize with. “In this instance, he’s shedding a light on that word and using it in a way where we’re educating the public on what that word really means.”

'Haunted Mansion' director Justin Simien avoided remaking "any" of the original Eddie Murphy film. The filmmaker admits he had "a bit of beef" with the original 2003 adaptation of the Disney ride of the same name, which he has put right with the upcoming live-action flick. He told EW: “I had a little bit of beef with the first film, because the first thing you’ve got to give the kids is the candy of the mansion that they know and love.“Not to dunk on the movie. It’s a movie of its time, and it’s also a movie that, frankly, a lot of people grew up with and love hardcore. In theatres, I was a little too old for it, but what I appreciated was [director] Rob Minkoff. He’s a genius. And I appreciated the elevation that they were going for. They had this beautiful book of all the production design,...

The best "Star Wars" films or series are able to forge unique identities for themselves. "Andor" is a grounded espionage thriller; "The Empire Strikes Back" is a darker and more subversive take on the hero's journey or monomyth; "Star Wars Rebels" delves deeply into themes of nature, spirituality, and the Force; and so forth. In the case of "The Mandalorian," the show draws heavily from the same samurai movies and pulp sci-fi serials that inspired George Lucas to create "Star Wars," yet frequently tips its hat to the tropes of the Spaghetti Western. There's even more than a dash of Tolkien-esque fantasy mixed in there, especially in season 3.
With "Ahsoka," the impending "Mandalorian" spinoff series centered on Rosario Dawson's Force wielding Togruta, Ahsoka Tano, "Star Wars" looks to branch out into a genre it's only flirted with in the past: Wuxia. In an interview with the "Star Wars Sessions...
