Written by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, DC Comics Kingdom Come was published in 1996 under the Elseworlds imprint. Alex Ross developed the concept from the original idea and painted the comic book in gouache, which has been appreciated by ardent comic book fans. DC Animated Universe veteran Bruce Timm also appreciates Alex Ross’ concept for the comic book.
Set in an alternate future of the DC Universe, Kingdom Come’s story takes the readers into a time when the Justice League team and the new-generation superheroes are fighting each other to determine the future of the planet. The limited series was reportedly written as an indictment against the growing trend of violent anti-hero archetypes that sprung out in the early 1990s. Bruce Timm explained in detail why the comic book couldn’t be adapted for an animated movie.

Universal Pictures and Peacock forked over an amount somewhere in the range of $400 million to acquire the rights to distribute a trilogy of sequels to the 1973 classic The Exorcist, which we’re going to another collaboration between Blumhouse Productions and directed David Gordon Green (who recently delivered a trilogy of Halloween sequels), they were definitely expecting the first entry in the new trilogy to go over better with audiences than The Exorcist: Believer did when it was released last October. (You can read our 4/10 review Here.) The box office numbers were okay, the movie pulled in $137 million on a $30 million budget, but Universal was hoping for a lot better than “okay,” and the reactions were largely negative. Soon after the release of Believer, we heard that Universal and Blumhouse still intended to carry out the trilogy, but the follow-ups would be reworked. While speaking to The Direct this week, producer...

WandaVision got the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Disney+ era off to a strong start and it’s not hard to see why. The series featured a compelling love story between a witch and an android, satisfying callbacks to classic sitcoms, and most importantly: Kathryn Hahn.
Hahn is a charismatic performer who tends to elevate just about anything she pops up in. That’s why it was no surprise that her mild-mannered next door neighbor Agnes was revealed to be none other than Agatha Harkness – powerful witch and the architect of all of Wanda’s suffering. Amazon listings had previously said that The Exorcist: Believer (our review can be read Here), the latest entry in the Exorcist franchise, wouldn’t be reaching physical media until July of 2024, but thankfully that’s not the case. The movie is available on PVOD – you can buy it from Amazon’s Prime Video at This Link – and will be available to watch through the Peacock streaming service as of December 1st. But if you’re holding out for physical media, you’ll only have to wait until December 19th for The Exorcist: Believer to get its 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release.

Television fans of a certain age should be giving the Hallmark Channel a special thanks as they are reuniting two of the stars of one of the most popular family dramas of the late-1990s, “Party of Five,” it just so happens that both said stars happen to be regulars in the Hallmark movie rotation. In “A Merry Scottish Christmas” — as they did on “Party of Five” — Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert play brother and sister, but unlike as the Bailey and Claudia Salinger, these siblings do not have the best of relationships. However, when they travel to Scotland to visit their mother for Christmas, a major secret is revealed that just might repair their fractured relationship. The movie premieres on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Et. You can watch A Merry Scottish Christmas and Hallmark Channel with a 7-Day Free Trial of Philo. The Exorcist: Believer (our review can be read at This Link), the latest entry in the Exorcist franchise, didn’t go over well with critics or the general audience… which pretty much makes it a typical Exorcist movie, because none of these movies – other than the original The Exorcist and Exorcist III – are very popular, even among the horror crowd. It has managed to pull it more than $107 million at the global box office since being released earlier this month – and now it has been announced that it’s going to be reaching PVOD tomorrow, October 24th!
According to Syfy Wire, The Exorcist: Believer will be available to rent and/or purchase for $29.99 on PVOD services like Vudu and Apple TV. It’s up for pre-order on Amazon’s Prime Video at This Link.

There’s a new Exorcist movie in theatres now, The Exorcist: Believer (read our review Here), and for the first time in the franchise Ellen Burstyn reprises the role of Chris MacNeil, the character she played in the 1973 classic The Exorcist. Her presence has been a major selling point in the marketing of this movie – but there’s another returning cast member who makes a brief appearance in the film. We heard months ago that Linda Blair (who was also in Exorcist II: The Heretic) would be showing up in The Exorcist: Believer, and during an interview with People magazine director David Gordon Green talked about reuniting Burstyn and Blair for “a beautiful moment”.
Green told People, “It was just a really special moment to be a part of that reunion, to be a part of that legacy, the connection that’s so monumental that the two of those performers have.

There’s a new Exorcist movie in theatres now. The Exorcist: Believer (read our review Here) is tracking to have the highest opening weekend of the entire franchise and might end up pulling in an amount somewhere in the range of 30 to 36 million. Its theatrical run got started last night, and according to The Hollywood Reporter it drew in $2.85 million from those Thursday preview screenings.
Most of the film’s reviews are negative – it currently has a 20% score on Rotten Tomatoes and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray described it as “abysmal” – so we’ll have to wait and see if that’s going to have any impact on the opening weekend box office.

We’ve seen what director David Gordon Green and Blumhouse Productions could do with the Halloween franchise, three times over. Now we’re going to see what they can do with the Exorcist franchise when The Exorcist: Believer reaches theatres this Friday, October 6th. This movie is meant to be the start of a new trilogy of Exorcist sequels, and Universal Pictures and Peacock forked over an amount somewhere in the range of $400 million to acquire the rights to distribute this trilogy… so they’re probably very glad to hear that the film is tracking to have a franchise record-breaking opening weekend.
Deadline reports that The Exorcist: Believer, which will be playing on 3600 screens, is expected to have a domestic opening weekend in the 30 to 36 million range. After producing films like The Black Phone, The Invisible Man, and Jordan Peele’s Us, you’d think it would take a lot to scare Jason Blum. As it turns out, what frightens Blum is a megastar with a cult-like fan following. I’m talking about Pennsylvania-born entertainer Taylor Swift! The blonde bombshell’s Eras Tour film is shaking it off in theaters this October, and the Blumhouse founder’s latest fright fest, The Exorcist: Believer, is getting out of her way.
“The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift,” Blum joked with Entertainment Weekly about competing with Swift’s concert film for box office supremacy. Initially, Blum wanted to unleash The Exorcist: Believer on October 13, a Friday well-suited for the spookiest month of the year. However, when fans began sharing the hashtag #Exorswift on Twitter, Blum considered a release date change for the latest chapter in the Exorcist saga.

Universal Pictures is going so hard with their marketing of the October 6th release of director David Gordon Green and Blumhouse Productions‘ The Exorcist: Believer, it almost seems like the saying “another day, another Exorcist promo” would be fitting. Today they’ve unveiled a featurette that’s called “Legacy” and looks to let us know that the filmmakers were seeking to honor the 1973 classic The Exorcist with this new sequel. 13 is an important number to musician Taylor Swift. She considers it to be her lucky number. As she has said, “I was born on the 13th, I turned 13 on Friday the 13th, my first album went gold in 13 weeks. Also, my first song that ever went number 1, it had a 13 second intro, I didn’t even do that on purpose!” She had more examples to give, but the point is – when it was announced this morning that her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is going to reach theatres nationwide on Friday, October 13th, it totally made sense. And now, in response to that announcement, Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions, and Morgan Creek Entertainment have decided to move their film The Exorcist: Believer forward one week from its October 13th release date to avoid having to compete with Taylor Swift on its opening weeked. The Exorcist: Believer will now reach theatres on October 6th.

Alright horror fans… Universal and Blumhouse released on Thursday three brand new posters for their upcoming movie The Exorcist: Believer.
Looking very much like Regan from the original movie, the sequel will hit theaters on October 13. The 1973 film (directed by William Friedkin and written by William Peter Blatty) is about a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious demonic entity, forcing her mother to seek the help of two priests to save her.
The Exorcist won two Oscars for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium – William Peter Blatty and Best Sound – Christopher Newman, Robert Knudson. It went onto have a worldwide box office gross of $441,306,145 (Box Office Mojo) with only a $11 million budget. It starred Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair.
David Gordon Green (Halloween 2018) directs the new film, and is produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson and James G. Robinson.

Ellen Burstyn was on board to reprise the role of Chris MacNeil, the character she played in the 1973 classic The Exorcist (watch it Here)… but soon after the announcement, Linda Blair, who played Chris MacNeil’s possessed daughter Regan in the original film, said she hadn’t been contacted about appearing in the new movie. It didn’t look like Blair was going to be in it, but she said, “I wish all those involved the best and I appreciate the loyalty and passion the fans have for The Exorcist and my character.” Well, Green’s first sequel to The Exorcist recently wrapped filming,...
