Thunderbolts* has been a long time coming, though it's not unfair to say that the roster we're getting isn't exactly the one most fans hoped to see.
In place of characters like Baron Zemo, Mach IV, Moonstone, and Songbird are Bucky Barnes, U.S. Agent, Yelena Belova, and Red Guardian. So, just think of this movie as being a sequel to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Black Widow!
The Sentry's presence suggests there's more to Thunderbolts* than just that and we've now rounded up all the biggest rumours, plot leaks, and spoilers in one place. From why this team assembles to plans for Robert Reynolds and links to the wider MCU, there's a lot here to delve into.

It has been heavily rumored that The Sentry will be making his debut in the MCU sometime soon, most likely in the Thunderbolts film, currently due to release in 2025. Steven Yeun was previously in the running to play the character, before his exit was prompted due to scheduling issues. However, one Marvel theory suggests that the MCU might be going with a new version of the characters introduced in Marvel comics.

The theory is based on certain rumors that the MCU will be changing the mythos of the Sentry, to make it more palatable to the mainstream audience. The theory states that Marvel will be going with the most recent run of the Sentry, where the power of hero the split six ways between 6 individuals after his demise, which then caused one of them, Ryan Topper, to go on a rampage to claim the powers from the other Sentries.

Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts" has suffered another setback. Actress Ayo Edebiri has exited the project, citing scheduling conflicts. The exit comes almost exactly a year after Edebiri's casting was announced. However, "Thunderbolts" has already found its replacement: Geraldine Viswanathan.
Reporting suggests that Edebiri's scheduling conflicts stem from production delays on "Thunderbolts." Filming was previously pushed back to accommodate the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and Edebiri's commitments evidently no longer align with the revised "Thunderbolts" schedule. Steven Yeun, who was set to appear in "Thunderbolts" as Robert Reynolds/The Sentry, has exited the project for similar reasons (the part has since been recast with Lewis Pullman).
"Thunderbolts" adapts the Marvel comic of the same name, featuring semi-reformed supervillains working together. Think of it as the equivalent of DC's Suicide Squad, especially since the MCU will be including an Amanda Waller analogue in Countess Valentina Allegra De Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus). The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seemingly found its new Sentry. Though it hasn't been officially confirmed by the folks at Marvel Studios, it has been reported widely that the character will appear in the upcoming "Thunderbolts" movie that is set to conclude Phase 5 of the MCU. Recently, Steven Yeun announced his departure from the film, which left the production with a pretty big problem to solve.
According to Deadline, Lewis Pullman is the man who has been tasked with solving that problem. The 30-year-old actor, best known for his work in movies like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "The Strangers: Prey at Night," is now poised to join his biggest franchise yet. Jake Schreier is directing "Thunderbolts," which is expected to begin filming in the coming months. While plot details have yet to be revealed, the Thunderbolts are not unlike DC's Suicide Squad, in that it's historically a team of villains...

The highly-discussed ‘Thunderbolts’ MCU project, unveiled by Kevin Feige in September, solidified its cast with David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, and Olga Kurylenko reprising their roles. Notably, Yelena Belova was confirmed to join the Thunderbolts team.
Initially, Steven Yeun was set to portray Sentry, a choice that faced criticism due to perceived disparities with the character’s comic book appearance. After Yeun withdrew, attributing it to post-SAG-AFTRA strike scheduling conflicts, rumors circulated that Austin Abrams might step into the role. Abrams, recognized for his performances in ‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘Euphoria,’ and various films, was purportedly considered for the complex character of Robert Reynolds.

However, based on the latest batch of speculations reported by Daniel Richtman on X, Abrams declined the opportunity to take on the role.

If there’s one upcoming MCU project that has been talked about in recent times, it’s ‘Thunderbolts.’ In September Kevin Feige announced that David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, and Olga Kurylenko would be reprising their roles as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Ava Starr/Ghost, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, John Walker/U.S. Agent, and Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, respectively, in the film. He also confirmed that Yelena Belova would be a part of the Thunderbolts team in the film.
Now, the cast of the upcoming movie was the most talked-about aspect of the movie. Initially, Steven Yeun was cast to play Sentry in the movie, and the confirmation followed soon. Fans were not exactly ecstatic with that casting choice, citing obvious differences in how Steven Yeun looks and how comics accurate Sentry is supposed to look; even with a muscle suit and heavy use of CGI,...

The Walking Dead and Minari actor Steven Yeun wants to apologize to Marvel fans after he dipped out of starring in the upcoming ensemble flick Thunderbolts. Speaking with Variety’s Marc Malkin about exiting the superhero project, Yeun cited the SAG-AFTRA strike as one reason for bowing out of the anticipated film.
“I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it,” Yeun explained. “But Jake [Schreier], I know, is going to do an incredible job.”
“It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out,” Yeun adds.
While Yeun is leaving Marvel’s Thunderbolts behind, he’s still interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I wanna do a Marvel movie,” Yeun told Variety, though he did not specify which project he’d like to become a part of.

It was first reported in February of 2023 that "Nope," "The Walking Dead" star Steven Yeun was finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in what was described as a "significant mystery role" in "Thunderbolts." Months later it was confirmed that Yeun was going to play Robert Reynolds/The Sentry, a complicated super-figure who gains his powers from the sun and waffles between hero and villain status. The Sentry was the latest antihero figure to join the MCU, and with Yeun's star getting hotter after the explosive success of the Netflix series "Beef," his turn in Marvel's sandbox was one of the most anticipated roles of Phase Six. Unfortunately, at the start of 2024, mumblings started circulating that Yeun was exiting the project. And as was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on January 2, the rumors are true.
Important to note that while Yeun's involvement was never outright confirmed by Marvel, it was never denied,...

Back in February, Steven Yeun was announced to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a "key role" in "Thunderbolts." Now, thanks to Robert Kirkman, it's been confirmed what Yeun's role is: Robert Reynolds/The Sentry.
The Sentry is a relatively recent creation, debuting in 2000 and created by Paul Jenkins, Jae Lee, and Rick Veitch. He's one of the countless Superman clones across comics; he has the same powerset, the flowing cape and S-insignia, he gets his powers from the sun, and he even boasts the classic alliterative secret identity (think "Clark Kent").
However, Mr. Reynolds is not all good. Afflicted with a personality disorder since he got his powers, his archenemy -- the soul-devouring shadow "The Void" -- is Reynold's own alternate personality. Now that Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is the Hulk full-time and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) was seemingly crushed beneath Mount Wundagore, the Sentry easily slots...

Those notorious Marvel snipers have been slacking a bit, apparently, based on the volume of leaks that have sprung from the studio lately. To be fair, this latest one comes from something of an unexpected source: "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman. And the news regarding his "good friend" Steven Yeun, who starred in AMC's hit zombie series for years (and most recently stole the show in the Netflix series "Beef"), suggests that he might very well be playing the villain of the upcoming "Thunderbolts" film.
In a lengthy conversation between Kirkman and comic book artist David Finch (via IGN), Kirkman spilled the beans on which super-powered character Yeun will be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- a role that, up until now, has been kept a mystery. All we knew to this point was that it would be "not only significant to this film but a major...

Sentry is kind of like a neurotic version of Superman with a split personality, which means he’s a guy that means well but isn’t all there all the time and can cause a lot of trouble in a very little amount of time. Robert Reynolds is a name that people don’t hear all the time in Marvel, and yet Sentry, his alter ego, is one of the most powerful characters in the entire Marvel universe. This is a character that has gone toe to toe with the Hulk, and an alternate side called the Void. The level of destruction that

It’s not officially confirmed, but it’s looking likely that Henry Cavill has played Superman for the last time in the Dceu. As he only got to portray the Man of Steel three times, though, and arguably never reached his full potential in the role, there’s a lot of hope from superhero fans that he gets to find himself another part in the comic book movie genre. Mostly, folks want to see him join the McU. And if that was to happen, what character would make more sense than the Sentry?
As the hero is something like Marvel’s twisted answer to Superman, Cavill could be the perfect person to bring Robert Reynolds to life in the McU. And if you can’t see it, check out this epic fan art below which casts him in the role, complete with yellow and blue costume, oversized belt and blonde hair.

When a bold new book such as Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda is launched, publishers often look for that extra incentive to entice readers into picking up copies. Sure, there’s the immediate appeal of the headliner who’s already proven to to be a billion dollar draw at the box office, but it certainly helps to up the ante when they’re hoping we’ll add yet another title to our pull lists. In this case, Marvel’s solution was simple: bring back the Sentry.
For those unfamiliar, the Sentry is often argued as being the most powerful character making up the House of Ideas’ pantheon (the Silver Surfer may have something to say about that), and draws frequent comparisons to Superman. But whereas the Man of Steel’s greatest nemesis is Lex Luthor, Robert Reynolds’ comes from within: the Void, a warped reflection of himself.

With Avengers: Endgame now in our rearview mirror and some of the old guard having moved on, it stands to reason that Marvel Studios are now looking toward a future chock full of other superheroes. Already, the likes of Black Panther and Captain Marvel have proven they’re ready to carry the torch in a storytelling sense, not to mention as box office powerhouses.
Of course, Kevin Feige and company will continue looking to the source material as they search for more characters to adapt. And one that’s supposedly being talked about right now is actually the Sentry, who’s quite the cult favorite himself. According to the folks over at Discussing Film, he’s among those next being considered for the silver screen.

A judge on Friday granted a restraining order to protect Marvel’s Stan Lee and his family from a memorabilia collector who allegedly embezzled assets worth more than $5 million.
The collector, Keya Morgan, is accused of isolating Lee from his daughter, J.C. Lee, and others, in an effort to assert control over Lee’s business affairs.
Earlier in the day, Judge Pro Tem Ruth Kleman dismissed another restraining order, which was filed last month on Lee’s behalf by attorney Tom Lallas. The judge found that Lallas, who was fired in February, does not represent Lee.
The new restraining order was filed Thursday by attorney Stephen Crump. In the application, Crump alleges that Morgan made malicious and false remarks about Lee’s daughter to Lee, and prevented Lee’s financial advisers from seeing him. The order bars Morgan from coming within 100 yards of Lee, his daughter, or his brother, Larry Lieber.
