If true crime documentaries are your thing, then Between Black and Blue should be your next binge.
Premiering exclusively in North America and available as a full season binge on Sundance Now and AMC+ on Tuesday, May 25, the four-part series Between Black and Blue sheds light on an unbelievable story involving crooked cops, a mafia Godfather, an alleged public poisoning, Elvis Presley, and a cocaine-addicted newspaper editor who printed it all.
The project was seven years in the making, and unveils the extraordinary story of two New York City detectives who were convicted of the sensational 1975 murder of a Denver businessman, their decades-long fight to clear their names, and the hunt for one of the confessed gunmen who may hold all the answers – a man placed into witness protection by law enforcement over 40 years ago.

The cast and crew of A Christmas Horror Story have stuffed the cinematic stockings with a delightfully devious new take on the holiday season. With A Christmas Horror Story now out in select theaters and viewable on VOD and iTunes, Daily Dead caught up with Steve Hoban—one of the film's three directors—to discuss working with William Shatner, setting the horror anthology film in the same town from the Ginger Snaps movies, and much more.
Thanks for taking the time to converse with Daily Dead today. I really enjoyed A Christmas Horror Story and believe it will become a holiday cult classic that horror fans can happily unwrap each year. How did you get involved with this project and what appealed to you the most after reading the script for the first time?
Steve Hoban: Thank you for saying that. As true fans of the genre, we made...

From Blood and Donuts and Ginger Snaps to Splice and, his latest, Haunter, producer Steve Hoban has been a staple in the Canadian horror scene since the mid Nineties.
He’s now working again with director Vincenzo Natali on a new experimental web series called Darknet that should be making its way onto television here in the States in the near future. For now, as of 12:01am this morning, fans can watch the first installment over at Darknetfiles.com. And, believe me, it’s worth checking out. Consisting of interweaving storylines and connected characters in different instances of urban horror, the first episode runs about 25 minutes and features some really solid, well-crafted moments. Just before the debut, Hoban was kind of enough to speak with us for a few minutes to talk about the series.

It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.
Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.
Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:
Syfy’S 2013 Winter Programming Highlighted By Series Premieres Of Ghost Mine, Robot Combat League, Stranded And Continuum Season Returns Of Hits Being Human, Face Off, Total Blackout, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl, Haunted Collector And Final Season Of Merlin

Canadian TV series "Lost Girl", which also airs on Syfy here in the States, has lined up a pretty impressive guest star for its upcoming Season 3: none other than ass-kicker supreme Linda Hamilton.
TVLine reports that Hamilton (The Terminator, "Beauty and the Beast") will guest star in Season 3's tenth episode as Acacia, “a tough, sexy, and ruthless assassin who has enjoyed a storied and deadly career.”
Season 2 of "Lost Girl" is currently finishing out its run on Syfy by moving to Friday nights at 10:00 Pm, and Season 3 will air on both Syfy and Showcase in 2013 (Syfy says January while Showcase just says winter).
Synopsis:
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door – until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death.

Of course, for the most part I only know of Lost Girl from its U.S. airing, but I’m a fan, and Linda Hamilton showing up is just too cool.
She’ll be guest-starring as an assassin no less, and it ought to be a rather fun trip. Call me crazy, but this show just gets better and better, and I love to see things coming south.
Are you a fan of the show, and is this a good move?
Check out all the info below.
Prodigy Pictures, in association with Shaw Media, announced today that Linda Hamilton will guest star in season three of the Showcase hit series, Lost Girl.

We haven't been covering "Lost Girl" much lately, but we did want to pass on the news that Syfy has renewed the hit series (it's the #1 cable drama among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 in its time period) for a third season of 13 episodes, beginning January 2013.
If you're a fan of the show, note that on July 20th, "Lost Girl" will move from Mondays at 10:00 Pm (Et/Pt) to Fridays at 10:00 Pm.

Excellent news about a fun, entertaining supernatural crime show with some cool creatures, a fair amount of sex and terrific chemistry between the characters. Hopefully you’ve been catching Lost Girl on Syfy, Mondays at 10/9c. The show is Syfy‘s only “acquired” scripted series. It’s a Canadian production and has been broadcast there with great success and rabid fans, if my international Twitter feed is any indication.
It was renewed for a third season in Canada back in December, before Season 1 debuted here on Syfy in January. Syfy began airing Season 2 the week after Season 1 concluded, and Season 2 is still rolling out now. It’s great news that we’ll be seeing the third season here as well. Here’s the press release:

Well, there’s a much bigger audience for this news than there was when I mentioned that the second of Lost Girl was coming, so hopefully there are a lot of you out there that are glad to hear that Season 3 is getting underway.
It’s timely news as well, now that Syfy kicked off Eureka! last night, which hopefully gave Lost Girl even more of a boost. It’s also timely, because I know there are some folks out there who started to wonder when Syfy began talking about Season 2 of a rebroadcast show that didn’t actually have a Season 3 yet.
I love Syfy for airing the show, but it’s tricky for some fans who may find themselves unsure how much they want to invest in a show, when the network you’re watching it on isn’t really in control of what happens.
At any rate,...

With director Edgar Wright in town this past weekend for the Toronto cast and crew screening of Scott Pilgrim Versus The World I had the chance to sit down for a lengthy talk about his newest creation. He very graciously met me for a very early coffee at his hotel before shipping out later that afternoon and was in fine form. Read on!
TB: So, you've got a few different genres at play with this one ...
EW: I read an interview with Beck in Pitchfork magazine where he said that watching Scott Pilgrim reminded him of watching films in Chinatown, where the genre changes every five minutes and it didn't really matter. It's interesting.
TB: When you were making it did Universal ever throw up any red flags, like "What is this? You have to focus!"
EW: Well, not really. I've got to give them huge, huge credit for letting...
