After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrived last month, this week appeared to bring confirmation that long-running character Nien Nunb had met his end in Episode IX. The diminutive alien rebel pilot first appeared in Return of the Jedi before turning up in each of the Sequel Trilogy movies. But a brief scene in Rise‘s third act seemed to point to him meeting an untimely end off screen. Or so we thought.
First of all, fan/writer Bryan Young shared a post in honor of Nunb on Twitter. His belief that the character had died was supported by Rae Carson, author of the upcoming Rise of Skywalker Expanded Edition novelization. However, now another source even closer to the production is disputing Nunb’s death as fact, claiming that there’s evidence in the film proving he survived that we all missed.

In the Special Editions, the Rebo Band were big victims of George Lucas' digital wand. Here's how CGI changed them - seemingly forever...
In 1997, Star Wars began its ineluctable turn to the digital side. A New Hope, re-released in January that year, marked the first of George Lucas’s Special Edition revamps of his blockbuster saga; then 20 years old, the original 70s print was decaying. Effects shots were damaged. Darth Vader’s once imposing black mask and cloak had faded to a wan shade of pale blue.
To combat the ravages of time, Lucas embarked on an expensive and lavish restoration of the movies, improving the quality of the sound, re-balancing and correcting the colours and placing them back where they belonged: on the big screen. While fans were delighted at the prospect of seeing Star Wars in theatres again, Lucas’ reissues didn’t stop at...

This is a column about speculation, spoilers, rumors, hearsay and analyzing the Star Wars Universe. Spoilers, real or imagined, might be found within. Maz Kanata-level curiosity is suggested.
The mysteries surrounding Rogue One are very intriguing right now. For the most part because now that Episode VII has set the terms for the next two Saga installments, there’s a cone of possibility narrowing the scope of the “anything’s possible” attitude that Star Wars fandom had before The Force awakened.
I’m not saying the new characters and plot introduced to the galaxy for Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII isn’t the most interesting part of new Star Wars. The argument I’m making is maybe Rogue One is the most interesting upcoming Star Wars movie. We don’t know what an anthology film (“Star Wars Story”) is or what it’s supposed to look like. The Force Awakens...

Actor Mike Quinn has confirmed that he will reprise his role from "Return of the Jedi" in J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" for Disney and Lucasfilm.
Quinn plays Nien Nunb, the Sullustan who co-piloted the Millennium Falcon with Lando Calrissian in the 1983 capper of the original trilogy. The pair's mission helped destroy the second Death Star.
Quinn says you can briefly glimpse Nunb in the recent trailer, one of several alien pilots running in the background of the shot featuring Finn looking out at the hustle and bustle of the Resistance's secret base.
In related news, Variety reports that Canada will be the only territory in the world where "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be available to stream on Netflix next year.
The reason is one of licensing, Netflix picked up the rights to Disney product starting in 2015, but only in Canada as in the U.
