In 1980, voice actor Roger Price founded Mid-Ohio Con as a fundraiser for various charities. The convention raised over one million dollars for its many charities, the most frequent of which was the March of Dimes. Mid-Ohio Con has a great history in the comics industry. In 1985, it featured the announcement of John Byrne’s relaunch of the Superman series while years later it featured the launch of Oh, Comics!. The series featured talent from Ohio based writers and artists and ran until 2008. After the retirement of Price in 2008, the show struggled. However, in 2010, it was purchase by Wizard. The name was then changed to Wizard World Ohio.

A second season of The Tomorrow People is in the planning stages.
Exec producer Greg Berlanti told Digital Spy that he and his team have "a lot of ideas" for the future of the sci-fi revamp, which airs on E4 in the UK.
"We definitely have it planned out," he said. "I think like any shows that are doing about what we're doing [ratings-wise] in the States, it will definitely be a conversation.
"We'll have to make our case for why and hopefully the TV gods will look upon us fondly and we'll get a shot at it."
The Tomorrow People is a remake of the classic ITV science-fiction series, with Berlanti telling DS that a direct continuation of the original was "never really considered".
"It was our job to bring some of the essence of the show into the modern era," he explained. "One of the really rewarding things was...

Based on the original 70s British TV series of the same name and starring Robbie Amell (1600 Penn, Revenge), Luke Mitchell (Neighbours, Home and Away), Peyton List (Mad Men, FlashForward), Aaron Yoo (21, Disturbia), Madeleine Mantock (Casualty, Edge of Tomorrow) and Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural, Revolution), The Tomorrow People is a brand new sci-fi series set to make its UK debut on E4 next month. With that in mind, we sat down with executive producers Phil Klemmer and Danny Cannon to talk about what we can expect from this new iteration of the show and how much of an influence the original series has had on the pair…
How would you describe the genesis of this exciting new sci-fi show?
Phil Klemmer: I worked with Greg Berlanti on his Emmy-nominated television program,Political Animals. We were on location in Philadelphia and we had just shot the pilot, so we were flying back home.

Everyone was very busy in the "Tomorrow People" episode, "Thanatos." Kidnapping, murder, revelations, British professors with weird mushroom tea and even a "Matrix"-style brain machine were all part of the fun.
It's just too bad it all ended so poorly for just about all of the good guys.
Worst. Idea. Ever.
Stephen is still all worked up -- and rightly so -- about seeing his maybe-dead father and learning the word, "Thanatos," from him. Everyone else is a bit skeptical of this -- and rightly so -- since Stephen was having a near-death experience himself at the time.
But these crazy genetically evolved kids will do anything for Stephen, so Cara and Russell concoct what may be the worst plan in "Tomorrow People" history: They decide to break into Jedikiah's house and pick his brain while the man is asleep.
Nothing could go wrong, right?
Yeah ... Unfortunately, Jedikiah isn't...

In the original British series of "The Tomorrow People," Nicholas Young played the character of John, the de facto leader of the genetically advanced young people. He returns to the series after almost 40 years in the upcoming episode, "Thanatos," playing Dr. Aldus Crick.
Check out this interview for more on the character and actor.
What can you say about your character in the new version of "The Tomorrow People"?
Nicholas Young: Aldus Crick is an English, eccentric professor who, about 20 years ago, was a lecturer at Princeton University, where one of his colleagues -- Dr. Jedikiah Price -- was also a lecturer. And he introduces me to Roger Price who has these extraordinary abilities. He swears me to secrecy and from that time on, Roger Price and my character, Aldus Crick, try to develop a safe haven for Tomorrow People to hide away and choose the appropriate way to...

The last we saw of The Tomorrow People, Stephen told Cara and John that he had seen his father. And now, with this week’s introduction of the scientist who originally discovered Stephen’s father, it seems answers aren’t far away.
Playing that scientist, Dr. Aldus Crick, is Nicholas Young, who played John on the original U.K. series. Crick is introduced in tonight’s episode 8, and with him come flashbacks involving Jedekiah and Roger, as well as an introduction to the man in charge of Ultra.

On Wednesday, October 9, a new version of The Tomorrow People will debut on Us television, over forty years after the show's first iteration debuted on ITV in the UK.
Created by Roger Price, the original series premiered on April 30, 1973, kicking off with episode one of five-part adventure 'Slaves of Jedikiah' and launching a science fiction franchise that would take in two television shows, comics, novels, a bevy of merchandise and one (sadly truncated) audio series.
But with a third TV take on the property - from The CW - now just days away from its own launch, how does that original '70s series opener stand up? Today, the Week in Geek finds out...
> Agents of Shield, It Crowd, Atlantis: TV's Big Geek Weekend
> Atlantis: Meet the stars of BBC One's new Saturday night drama

Yes, it’s that time of year, kids. Before the official “Upfronts” get started next week, the networks are making the dreaded “sorry, but” phone calls to showrunners and pilot productions who didn’t make the cut, followed by the “hey guess what?!!” calls to those shows and series that are amongst the chosen to be on the network’s future schedules.
We now have a happy surprise, two disappointments, and a lot of good news on the pilot scene from The CW camp. First, a quick reminder for those of you with short memories, and to stave off the panic: The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural were already picked up for fall, as we told you back in February.
The happy surprise: Nikita has been picked up for another season, as has Beauty and the Beast. The disappointment: The Selection and Gothica will not move on to series level.

We have some casting news for one of The CW's pilots as the network has placed another member of the Amell family in a prominent position on the network. Robbie Amell, cousin of "Arrow" star Stephen Amell, has been cast in a lead role in "The Tomorrow People."
Per TV Guide, Amell's character (ironically named Stephen) is a tormented young man who longs to be normal and is relieved to learn he's not crazy, but rather part of a group of genetically superior people known as the Tomorrow People, who use such special powers as teleportation and telepathy to fight evil.
Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow") will executive produce "The Tomorrow People," an adaptation of the cult British 1970s sci-fi series. It will be written/exec produced by Phil Klemmer ("Chuck").

Another new pilot in the sci-fi vein has been greenlit by The CW, and since this one comes from Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow"), we thought it worth mentioning.

We caught wind of three new series in the works at The CW which, while not strictly horror-based, should still be of interest to genre fans. Read on for the details!
First up is an original project called "Sick" from Trey Callaway (co-executive producer of "CSI: NY") and Sean Hood (Halloween: Resurrection, Fear Itself, and "Masters of Horror"), who wrote the script and sold it directly to The CW. "Sick" is set in a world where youths are quarantined after a mysterious virus makes adults allergic to teenagers. Described as a cross between Contagion and The Hunger Games, it centers on a band of teens who escape from their containment units and go on the run from authorities.
Next is "Jane Whitefield," based on the Vanishing Act book series by Thomas Perry. Produced by Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI") and written by Natalie Chaidez ("Heroes," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), "Jane Whitefield...
