Oscar nominee Colin Farrell reprises his role as one of Batman‘s most iconic supervillains in the Max limited series The Penguin. The second teaser trailer focuses on The Penguin as he recalls the story of an old-school gangster and how, when he died, the people of his neighborhood threw a parade in his honor. The minute-and-a-half trailer ends with Oz asking, “Can you imagine, to be remembered like that?”
Joining Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin) in the eight-episode drama are Cristin Milioti (Made for Love) as Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sofia; Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4) as Salvatore Maroni; and Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Carmine’s son, Alberto. Four (an unusually high number) recent studio theatrical releases added PVOD home availability over the last week. No question which among them scored best — “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (Disney) took the #1 slot on all charts.
Consumer options vary among the titles. “Indiana Jones” can immediately be digitally downloaded for $19.99. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” (Paramount) is $19.99 for a 48 hour rental, as is “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” (Universal). “Mutant” can be purchased for $24.99. Meanwhile, Disney released “The Boogeyman” at a $14.99 initial rental price.
The rush to open could be related to two factors — holiday viewing, but also the anticipated (but not yet confirmed) release of “Barbie” (Warner Bros.) as early as Tuesday. Presales are available on multiple sites, but none yet list a specific date.
Oddly, only “Indiana Jones” among the four new entries made all three charts. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” was released Friday,...

Last week’s new release “No Hard Feelings” has already stirred up some tough emotions for its audience — and not about the so-called “raunchy” and “offensive” comedy at the center of the Jennifer Lawrence-led feature. Instead — and predictably enough — the media narrative has centered on what is missing from the movie…namely, all of Lawrence’s clothes in a scene that sees skinny-dipping turned into a brawl.
Why, in 2023, do audiences still care so much? Both Lawrence’s agency as an actress and producer, as well as her choice to be naked, are undermined by questioning the merits of going full frontal, and sadly, that’s what much of the criticism surrounding “No Hard Feelings” is focused on.
In the film, Lawrence portrays down-on-her-luck Uber driver/bartender Maddie, who struggles to live in the wealthy beach town of Montauk after rapid gentrification. Maddie answers a Craigslist ad from a...

There’s no Iron Throne, but the stakes feel just as high.
“Succession”, the critically acclaimed drama chronicling a Murdoch-esque feuding billionaire family, wraps its four-season run on Sunday May 28 with a highly anticipated 88-minute finale.
And just like another tentpole HBO show, “Game of Thrones”, there’s no shortage of theories over how the series will end and who will prevail. But instead of a throne, the Roy siblings are battling over the sprawling Waystar Royco media empire.
The Shakespearean-level intrigue has prompted speculation among fans looking for clues in past episodes, characters’ names and elsewhere. Even the final episode’s title, “With Open Eyes”, has critics poring through the John Berryman poem that has been used for each season finale’s title.
Here are some of the questions that remain as the finale nears.

“Succession” series creator Jesse Armstrong writes characters who aren’t equipped for their times – either their inflated egos make them see small slights as momentous personal challenges or their stunted emotional maturity and intellect make them exactly the wrong people to deal with an actual crisis. In the case of “Succession,” it’s often both, and the camera responds accordingly.
Director Mark Mylod and director of photography Patrick Capone have together helmed over 10 episodes of the series together — including Season 4’s Episode 1, “The Munsters,” Episode 3, “Connor’s Wedding,” and Episode 9, “Church and State” — and like to keep the audience just a couple seconds behind and constantly re-finding the characters and the shifting power dynamics of individual scenes. It makes “Succession” look the way it must feel for the Roy siblings: one giant clusterfuck after another.

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence just goes for it in the raunchy, R-rated trailer for No Hard Feelings. Lawrence desccribes Gene Stupnitsky (Good Boys) and John Phillips’ script as the funniest she’s ever read, and it’s obvious in her performance that she was all-in on the physical comedy and playing a woman who seduces a 19-year-old virgin.
“I guess I like cringe humor,” said Lawrence in an interview with EW. “I do like the idea of comedy that makes people uncomfortable. I love when people are watching through their hands, through their fingers. Nothing makes me happier. And I love a lot of the stuff that Harold Ramis did, his movies.”
In addition to Jennifer Lawrence, the comedy stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Hasan Minhaj, and Matthew Broderick. Lawrence, Alex Saks, Naomi Odenkirk, Marc Provissiero, and Justine Ciarrocchi produced, with Kerry Orent and John Phillips executive producing.

We probably sound like a broken record at this point, but it is always worth pointing out when a TV show truly capitalizes on the fact that it’s a TV show. The concept of an episode has been diluted over the years, with so many shows seeing a runtime as a means to an end or just another hour to fill on the way to an ending. “Succession” has become one of the all-time TV greats by understanding that each individual piece of the puzzle can be a hand-crafted, standalone work of its own.
So picking out the best episodes of “Succession” is both a challenging and rewarding idea. They’re defined by moments in a “Friends”-esque way — The One Where Tom Throws Water Bottles; The One Where Tom Flips a Desk Over; The One Where Tom Steals Logan’s Chicken — or an “Always Sunny”-esque way — The...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Succession” Season 4, Episode 7, “Tailgate Party.”]
Tick tick tick.
As “Succession” enters its final three episodes, time-bombs are everywhere. Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgärd) is a nuclear option unto himself. His uncontrollable antics could force or sink GoJo’s deal with Waystar, but there’s also his perilous ‘ship with Ebba (Eili Harboe) to worry about. She claims all those blood bricks Lukas sent her are the least of his worries, and maybe she’s right — though it’s kind of hard to forget about the blood bricks — since Lukas and Shiv (Sarah Snook) are considerably shaken once news about GoJo’s bullshit India numbers reaches Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin).
The smile on Kendall’s face says it all: He’s finally got the leverage he craves to make a serious play for power — one his dad would, in theory, be proud of, and one that allows him to push out his hangers-on sibs.

Spoiler warning for Succession season 4, episode three, “Connor’s Wedding,” written by creator Jesse Armstrong and directed by Mark Mylod.
During the fourth and final season of Succession, fans were treated to another wedding episode, making for a third lively Roy family gathering filled with events that tend to overshadow the marriage at hand.
“There’s a lot more going on during Connor’s wedding than just the wedding. It’s a very complicated episode,” Alan Ruck told Et, while J. Smith-Cameron added, “It’s not what you expected. That’s all I’ll say.”
“It’s one of my favorites,” Nicholas Braun said, noting there’s “an incredible storm” taking place the middle of it. And boy, they weren’t kidding.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Succession Season 4, Premiere Episode, “The Munsters.”] Succession offered viewers plenty to ponder upon its fourth and final season return on HBO and HBO Max, among which includes Greg (Nicholas Braun) and Tom’s (Matthew Macfadyen) new duo nickname, “the disgusting brothers.” While the moniker appears to categorize their womanizing ways in the months of time that passed in the show’s world between Seasons 3 and 4, fans are likely wondering, just how did it all come together, or rather, come to fruition… Well, Braun promises, “You’ll learn a bit more.” He tells TV Insider, “You’ll get a little bit more about why they’re disgusting.” (Credit: Macall B. Succession is back for its fourth and final season. That means only 10 more chances to hear the memorable theme song, which got Showbiz Cheat Sheet thinking. Photograph by Macall Polay/HBO The way Succession deftly blends drama with ample quantities of comedy and some tragedy, it’s not the least bit surprising that the producers cast an accomplished Shakespearian actor, Brian Cox, in the key role of the show’s patriarch, Logan Roy. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 1, Episode 5 of The Time Traveler’s Wife.] The Time Traveler’s Wife saw Clare (Rose Leslie) and Henry’s (Theo James) relationship take a turn in the latest installment, as she brought him home to meet her parents. But, what does Clare bringing this “new” younger version of Henry to the place she first met him feel like? Pretty scary it would seem because she can’t even reconcile the concept of him inhabiting a space once occupied by the Henry of her childhood. Throughout the series so far, she’s struggled to accept that this 28-year-old Henry is the same person from her past, the older and more grounded version of Henry. Zoe Kravitz, Ilana Glazer, Scarlett Johansson, and Jillian Bell star in Lucia Aniello’s bachelorette party comedy Rough Night, Photo by Macall Polay. Courtesy of Columbia/Sony Pictures.
Scarlett Johansson leads a cast of raucous women characters in a comedy that does more than just flip the usual bachelor party trope on its head, in Rough Night. The result is a refreshing take on buddy comedy that not only turns the tables on gender but completely nails how women really interact with each other, in a fitfully funny comedy.
Besides a strong female lead cast, Rough Night is directed by a woman, Lucia Aniello, who also co-wrote the script and is one of the producers. Unlike the typical male-written script, these female characters are spot-on and interact like real women do, even if the situation is over-the-top comedy. While the women characters and how they interact is refreshingly accurate, the humor is sometimes uneven.

HBO just released a treasure trove of new photos from the upcoming sixth season of "Game of Thrones," and the images tease a bunch of new and returning characters -- and reveal that, yes, winter is indeed coming.
Among the most notable images are those revealing the fates of some characters whose status was a bit murky at the end of season five. First, there's a glimpse of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), who were last seen leaping off of Winterfell castle in last season's finale episode; in this new photo, they look pretty rough, but they're definitely still alive. And it looks that the poisoned Myrcella Baratheon (Nell Tiger Free) is indeed dead, appearing as a corpse in one image while Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) looks on.
Also included is the new Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow), as well as blind Arya (Maisie Williams), a badass-looking Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke,...

Snow has never been a good thing on "Game of Thrones". This week's episode, sees snow falling, and falling hard, on many of the characters. "Winter is coming" may be the words of House Stark but everyone is starting to realize this is the stark truth. Even as we move south and across the Narrow Sea where it is still a bit too warm to snow, the specter of impending doom shrouds every interaction we see. "The Gift" is an episode that handles its darkness right. For me it doesn't reach the highs of "Kill the Boy" but is a marked improvement over last week's "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken". Let's dive in. We have to start by dealing with the repercussions of the closing moments of last week's episode. Several days have passed and Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) has been assaulting Sansa (Sophie Turner) every night. Bruises are visible all over her...

The best thing I can say about the sixth hour of the fifth season of "Game of Thrones" is that it acts as a companion piece to last week's fantastic episode "Kill the Boy". Like last week, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" moves the pieces around, setting the stage for future conflicts. Also like last week, it focuses on a smaller collection of characters and stories to be able to give each one multiple scenes. Finally, it too was written by series veteran Bryan Cogman. As far as I'm concerned, that's where the similarities end and what we get this week is pure and utter darkness. Before we get inundated with the muck, there were some elements in this episode I did enjoy. The return of The Queen of Thorns herself, Lady Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) is going to be a highlight even in the best of episodes. The big guns have...

HollywoodNews.com: More than 115 images shot on the sets of such films as “Raging Bull,” “Munich,” “You, Me & Dupree,” “Rendition,” “Salt” and “Superman Returns” will be on display in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ new exhibition, “Crew Call 2011: Celebrating the Crafts,” opening Friday, September 9, in the Academy’s Grand Lobby Gallery. The exhibition, open to the public, will run through Sunday, December 18. Admission is free.
Shot by 25 members of the Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers, “Crew Call 2011″ will include photographs depicting the work of numerous, and essential, ‘below-the-line’ craftspeople on a movie set, from animal wranglers, puppeteers, makeup artists, seamstresses, stunt performers and prop masters to grips, gaffers and P.A.s. Several images show how production design and visual effects departments work preparing sets and staging action sequences, and provide glimpses of how the magic of the movies is achieved during long days and nights of shooting.

Chicago – The Holiday Season for films is populated by epic crowd pleasers and artsy Oscar bait. In between are the warm popcorn movies that don’t attempt to be anything except what they are. Harrison Ford, Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton and Patrick Wilson illustrate that cinematic point in the appealing and accessible “Morning Glory.”
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Strangely, Morning Glory is a somewhat “anti-Network.” Instead of showing the decline of national discourse through the substitution of fluff for news media substance – as the 1976 classic film diatribe “Network” expressed – this film asserts that the morning show (think “The Today Show”) method of infotainment is the new normal, and serious news is the rejected outsider. Which was exactly what Network predicted. Welcome to 2010.
Harrison Ford is in full bore old man curmudgeon mode as Mike Pomeroy, an old guard news anchor like Dan Rather who has been unceremoniously bounced from the evening news on the Ibs Network.
