Now that "True Blood" is ending, it's time for the stars to move on to new projects. Redheaded waitress Arlene (Carrie Preston) isn't known for her good decision-making, and that is about to transfer over to Preston's latest gig.
"The Following" just cast Preston as a guest star for the highly-anticipated second season of the Fox serial killer thriller, E! Online reports.
So will Preston be friend or foe to Agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon)? Since she's set to play Judy, presumed-dead serial killer Joe Carroll's (James Purefoy) most loyal groupie, we're pretty sure she won't be Ryan's biggest ally.
The Season 2 cast of "The Following" keeps getting bigger. Other recent castings include J.D. Williams as Carlos, a follower of Joe's who resurfaces in New York City, and Tehmina Sunny will play Melissa, a new friend in Ryan's life. Playing an old, trusted friend of Ryan's is "Dexter's" Keith Carradine,...

James McDaniel is getting back into the crime-solving game.
The former NYPD Blue and Detroit 187 star will recur on The Following Season 2, according to TV Guide, running an FBI task force based in New York City.
McDaniel's Ken Phillips essentially takes over for Debra Parker, who was killed on The Following Season 1 finale. He will likely work with Kevin Bacon's Ryan Hardy and newly cast Valerie Cruz, who is coming on board as Detective Gina Mendez.
The Following will return in early 2014 with new episodes and other new faces will include With Sam Underwood as a possible member of Joe Carroll's cult; and Connie Nielson as a love interest for Ryan.
McDaniel, meanwhile, is a two-time Emmy nominee who recurred on Season 1 of Orange is the New Black.

Despite executive producer Kevin Williamson's reveal at Comic-Con that fans can expect to see less FBI-centric story lines when "The Following" returns in January, that doesn't mean the Fox serial killer thriller needs less agents. In fact, seeing as how presumed-dead Joe Carroll's portrayer, James Purefoy, will be back for Season 2, the need for FBI agents has only increased.
It's a good thing "The Following" just cast James McDaniel, then: the "NYPD Blue" alum has joined the cast in a recurring capacity for Season 2, TVGuide.com reports.
McDaniel will play an FBI agent named Ken Phillips. He'll run a task force in New York City, filling the hole left by Agent Debra Parker's death in last season's finale.
McDaniel is the latest in a long line of casting news for Season 2 of "The Following." Valerie Cruz will play an NYPD detective tasked with hunting down a new serial killer in NYC,...

Is Margaret Cho really sick or just sick of performing to half-empty houses? For the second time in two weeks, the lady-loving laugh machine canceled a show. She called off the Oct. 12 show in Kitchener, Ontario, blaming "illness" but didn't say on her Web site why she backed out of an Oct. 25 gig in Long Beach, Calif. An Oct. 10 posting by Cho stated, "I am unbelievably sick - again. After being unbelievably sick for almost the entire month of September." Cho spokesman Ken Phillips admitted that ticket sales for the Long Beach event weren't too strong.
