Well it seems we finally have the answer to that age-old question: to be, or not to be? While people can argue over whether it has been "cancelled," the Being Mary Jane TV show is ending after four seasons on Bet. Deadline reports the Network has ordered a two-hour movie, which will serve as the Being Mary Jane TV series finale, when it airs in 2018. Airing on the Bet cable channel, Being Mary Jane revolves around the life of news anchor, Mary Jane Paul (Gabrielle Union). Margaret Avery, Aaron D. Spears, Richard Brooks, Bj Britt Jr., Raven Goodwin, Richard Roundtree, Valarie Pettiford, Chike Okonkwo, and Michael Ealy also star. The cancellation or ending does not come as a huge shock. Originally, Bet wanted to shoot seasons four and five back-to-back. Gabrielle Union fought that though, on the grounds of break stipulations in her contract.

Watching the Patterson women being taken advantage of makes for a difficult hour of television.
After the strained events of Being Mary Jane Season 4 Episode 2, though, I have a lot of hope for Mary Jane Paul. She saw the light that is Lee Truitt for what he really is and her walls fell away before him and his friends.
And despite the harrowing developments between Mary Jane and Rhonda Sales, Mary Jane does her best work when pushed to her limits. She excels on the professional battlefield. Rhonda thinks she did her homework, but she ain't seen nothin' yet.
Mary Jane has been thrust into this new world, and she loves it. But I cannot imagine her staying afloat without Kara by her side.
The last year has been terrible for Mj. She had an accident, was blackmailed, fought for Niecy's rights after a terrible run-in with the police and was ultimately fired.

Gabrielle Union and her fiancé, NBA player Dwyane Wade, were the epitome of cute coupledom during a romantic lunch in Miami on Wednesday. The pair, who got engaged back in December, were all smiles as they drank wine and checked out photos on a cell phone at their table. It was likely a nice bit of downtime for Dwyane, whose Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls over the weekend. The celebration continued this week as Heat forward LeBron James gifted his teammates with WWE championship belts - see this hilarious snap from the locker room. Gabrielle Union stars as Mary Jane Paul on "Being Mary Jane," a new Bet show about a cable news journalist. The show premiered as a 90-minute movie on Tuesday night (July 2) and will return for eight episodes starting in January 2014.
In the above video preview, Union does an interview in character, saying that as the person who is used to doing the interviews, she's a little nervous not to be in control.
Mary Jane may have faltered at CNN in the ratings and that's how she ended up at "Talk Back," at the fictional S&C network. She may be being courted by some other networks, but Mj is mum on the subject.
She also denies any conflict with her co-worker Cynthia Phillips -- "Any time you have two amazing, powerful women, they'll always create conflict where there is none."

Being Mary Jane is easy when you look like Gabrielle Union! The gorgeous 40-year-old actress returns to TV Tuesday, July 2, when her new series Being Mary Jane premieres on Bet in the form of a two-hour movie (you know, like Battlestar Galactica). Union, who is dating NBA star Dwayne Wade, plays the titular character, Mary Jane Paul, a successful TV anchor and a...
