New York — Robert Pattinson was nearing the end of shooting the last "Twilight" film, concluding a chapter of his life that had picked him out of near obscurity and was preparing to spit him out ... where exactly? "Twilight" had made him extravagantly famous, but his next steps were entirely uncertain.
"Out of the blue," he says, came the script for "Cosmopolis" from David Cronenberg, the revered Canadian director of psychological thrillers ("Videodrome," "Eastern Promises") that often pursue the spirit through the body. Pattinson, having never met or spoken to Cronenberg, did a little research: He looked him up on Rotten Tomatoes "and it was like 98 percent approval," he says.
"It was like: Ok, that's my next job," says Pattinson.
Pattinson now has the unenviable task of releasing his most ambitious movie, his most adult role, into a media storm that instinct would suggest should be run from like a pack of werewolves.

There's a new trailer out for David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," starring Robert Pattinson as Eric Parker, a financial whiz and asset manager whose trip across the city takes a dark turn as he encounters riots and various intimate encounters and his perfect little world implodes around him.
In the trailer, Parker's fortune is in danger and there's been a threat made on his life. It certainly looks like a quite adult departure from his "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" roles.
The film, based on a novel by Don DeLillo, also stars Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Jay Baruchel, Samantha Morton and Paul Giamatti. "Cosmopolis" is set for an Aug. 17 opening in the United States.

Robert Pattinson has admitted that the sex scenes in his new film Cosmopolis weren't easy for him. The 25-year-old actor stars in the David Cronenberg-directed film as Eric Parker, a businessman who embarks upon a surreal, Odyssey-like journey across Manhattan in a stretch limo. Based on the Don DeLillo novel of the same name, the film recently premiered at Cannes to a standing ovation. In an interview with GQ Pattinson reveals that some of the more difficult parts of filming the movie were the sex scenes with his female co-stars. The actor explained: "Juliette Binoche is one of my favourite actresses and within five minutes of meeting her on this we were pretending to have sex. Which wasn't in the script. "With both sex scenes we were supposed to have finished sex before we did the scene. Both times, David was just (more)...

Actor Robert Pattinson sympathised with his billionaire character in new movie Cosmopolis because he too has formed a close relationship with a bodyguard out of necessity.
In the film, the 26 year old plays the role of money manager Eric Parker, who develops a strong bond with his security detail.
And Pattinson, whose celebrity has taken off since the release of Twilight, can easily relate, admitting the life of a star can be quite lonely.
He tells the Associated Press, "Some of the stuff with the bodyguard (I can relate to), because when I'm doing press and stuff and when I'm working I have a bodyguard who I get really close with. There's a very specific relationship and that was one of the things I kind of got."...

An adaptation of Don DeLillo’s titular and typically provocative novel, "Cosmopolis," is the first feature-length effort filmmaker David Cronenberg wrote himself since 1999's "eXistenZ." Cronenberg penned the screenplay in six days, and literally transcribed DeLillo's dialogue word for word in many scenes. Featuring an unlikely star in the lead, "Twilight" hearthrob Robert Pattinson, and set in the not-too-distant-future of New York, "Cosmopolis" centers on a 28-year-old billionaire and uncontested Wall Street king, Eric Packer. A financial golden boy living the dream, yet bored with his effortless existence, Parker's day takes a turn for the worse when a dark shadow is cast over the firmament of the Wall Street galaxy. As his empire potentially crumbles, an eruption of wild activity unfolds in the city's streets and Packer's paranoia intensifies during the course of his 24-hour odyssey and leads him to cross paths with a cast of characters that threaten to destroy his world.

Cannes premieres can sometimes take years to reach theaters worldwide, but we’ve got news today on one that is expected to arrive in just a few months. Entertainment One, or eOne, has picked up the North American rights to David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the film stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut.
With a cast also including Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Kevin Durand, the press release below indicates the company plans to release the film before summer is over in Us, Canada and UK. Considering eOne’s lack of distribution experience in the states, we’d have to imagine they’ll link up with a bigger distributor to release this one, but nonetheless we’re excited...

Oh ladies, you aren't going to believe your ears when you watch and listen to this new Cosmopolis trailer. Rob, has never been described in such hard-core sexy words. He broke his bed's headboard as Edward Cullen on his honeymoon in Breaking Dawn Part I, and he bedded three different and appreciative beauties in the upcoming Bel Ami, but nothing compares in steaminess to the racy way Rob Pattinson is described playing millionaire bad boy Eric Parker in Cosmopolis. Here's what Sarah Gadon, who plays Rob's wife, Elise Shifrin, in Cosmopolis says in the trailer, about Rob: "I smell sex all over you." And he hadn't just had sex with her. Yes, Rob is quite the sexy bad boy in Cosmopolis and he does the deed with a brunette in his limo. Sorry, Sarah. So what do you think Hollywoodlifers? Is that the raciest thing you've ever heard said about Rob,...

With a few hours to go before the official Cannes line-up gets announced, we’ve got quite a little treat. Following the exhilarating teaser, a brand spankin’ new trailer for David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis is out, which confirms its Cannes debut as an official selection. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the film stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut.
This trailer expands on the mind-bending bits found in the first, with a great look at what will certainly be Pattinson’s meatiest role yet. I love the imagery Cronenberg is playing with, as it looks to be something straight out of one of his 80s/early 90s classics. Check it out below for the film also starring Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Kevin Durand.

London, Mar 23: Robert Pattinson strips off as he plays the bad boy character in his new flick 'Cosmopolis'.
The 25-year-old actor stars as millionaire Eric Parker in the upcoming film.
In a newly-released trailer, the 'Twilight' star is seen mid-way through a romp with a gun wielding naked woman, which will no doubt have his fans drooling for more, the Daily Mail reported.
The actor is seen lying on his back as the femme fetale points a gun onto his chest.
With only a laser light on him Pattinson is seen with a bemused, but calm, look on his face as he stares up at the woman.
The action-packed.

So, I woke up to discover that there's a very brief teaser trailer for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis out there on the net. After watching it, I think that I've messed up any hope of having a normal Thursday (and not just because Robert Pattinson is shirtless in it.)
Even with its French subtitles to distract you, this Cosmopolis trailer communicates one thing very clearly to you: that this is a David Cronenberg movie. Pattinson plays Eric Parker, a young New York City Wall Street trader who's at the top of his game. Then, one morning, he starts to see the world markets begin to collapse, and with it, strange manifestations on the streets of the city. Is he hallucinating, having visions, having a mental breakdown or losing his mind?
Maybe one day David Cronenberg will direct a movie for Walt Disney. Until that moment arrives, we can rest content...

Cosmopolis, the upcoming film from David Cronenberg, has released a new teaser trailer in which Robert Pattinson shows there’s more in his locker than sallow-faced pouting. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis will chart a single day in the life of billionaire Eric Parker (Pattinson), who realises he is losing money at a rate of knots and decides to revel in his own downfall. The teaser looks every bit as scuzzily weird as we’ve come to expect from Cronenberg, with Pattinson clearly relishing the opportunity to play a...

Robert Pattinson is really looking to shed his"Twilight" image.
After portraying a man with a trio of mistresses in this year's "Bel Ami," the actor is set to star in David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's "Cosmopolis."
In the first (foreign) teaser for the film, fans get a brief look at Pattinson shooting guns and having several sexual encounters around New York City.
"I was impressed with his screen presence and a lot of his stillness... But the other movies showed me he had range. He had the range that I wanted," Cronenberg told Vulture's Jada Yuan back in December.
Based on DeLillo's, "Cosmopollis" follows multi-millionaire Eric Parker (Pattinson), as he takes day-long trek across Manhattan in a limo.
The film is currently set for release this year, but no date has been announced. You can watch the Nsfw trailer for "Cosmopolis" -- complete with French subtitles -- above.

With a Cannes premiere almost certain, we’ve got our first look at David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis with a new international teaser. The director came back last year after a five-year absence with the disappointing A Dangerous Method, but judging from this quick tease, he is back to doing what he does best. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, the film stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut.
Following just one day in his life, the cast also includes Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Kevin Durand. The teaser below gives us a barrage of crazy imagery and not only tells us that Pattinson is certainly game to do just about anything in a post-Twilight world, but that Cronenberg is back to creating the unpredictable.

The first poster for Robert Pattinson's next movie, Cosmopolis, has been unveiled. Check that out in the left sidebar. There was a bit of confusion regarding the poster reveal, as several outlets originally picked up a fan made poster and declared it to be the official one before realizing they'd been duped. CinemaBlend has the full story on that one. Robert Pattinson filmed Cosmopolis in Toronto this summer, after getting done with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 filming and then promotional work for Water For Elephants. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo, in which a young, wealthy man named "Eric Parker" scours Manhattan, New York for a place to get a haircut and in the course of the day watches his family's fortune fall victim to a badly placed...

A Dangerous Method, the next film from David Cronenberg, won’t be hitting theaters until later this month, but promotion on his following drama is already gearing up. We posted a first look from the set of Cosmopolis back in May, but new stills have finally arrived. Cronenberg recently premiered the first footage at Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival, so expect to get some reactions from that soon, but we also have footage from the panel there from Cosmopolis Film. Check it out below followed by stills above and below from a Pattinson fan site.

Hollywood A-lister Robert Pattinson has his feet firmly planted in the spotlight and could possibly take the Cannes Film Festival by storm (again) with his latest movie ‘Cosmopolis’!
There’s no doubt that Robert Pattinson is way more than a one-dimensional actor. From his roles as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga, to playing rag-tag circus vet Jacob Jankowski in Water For Elephants, the 25-year-old heartthrob can play just about anything! This summer he wrapped filming in Canada, playing multi-millionaire Eric Parker in Cosmopolis, and now there’s talk of the movie going to Cannes. Yay!
Director David Cronenberg revealed the film, which follows Rob’s character over the course of 24-hours in Manhattan, is still in post production. He said it could go to Cannes, which will inevitably keep Rob at the top of every director’s wish list.

hollywoodnews.com: Toronto fans who went to the set of Robert Pattinson’s new film, “Cosmopolis,” last week got more than they bargained for when the star showed his face. When Pattinson graciously stopped to sign autographs for more than 60 fans in the wee hours of Thursday morning, he sported a new—and shockingly half-shaved—hairdo. Pattinson’s temporary hairstyle has been described as floppy on one side and choppily buzzed on another.
Those who read “Cosmopolis” know the score—at one point in the story, Pattinson’s character Eric Parker hastily leaves the scene of the much-anticipated haircut which serves as a major (if not the foundational) plot device. Yet, when he flees, his barber’s work is only half-done.

It may not be an aesthetic choice though. Yahoo points out that the 25-year-old "Twilight" star is currently filming "Cosmopolis." Based on Don Delillo's novel of the same name, there's a passage in the book where protagonist Eric Parker (Pattinson) leaves the barber mid-haircut.

Robert Pattinson has got himself a crazy makeover that may send his fans scream and cry. The Edward Cullen of the "Twilight Saga" series was snapped rocking a patchy haircut in the wee hours of Thursday, July 7. A photo shows that his messy and long hair is being left long on one side and raggedly buzzed on another.
The 25-year-old actor debuted the punk rocker-feel do when leaving the set of current film project, "Cosmopolis", in Toronto, Canada. Donning a pair of jeans and a black printed T-shirt, he stopped for over ten minutes to sign autographs and take pictures with a group of fans.
The actor, who has chopped his hair short for "Water for Elephants", got this wild cut for "Cosmopolis", the big screen adaptation from Don Delillo's acclaimed novel. In a scene from the book, his character Eric Parker flees the barber's shop in the middle of a haircut.

Robert Pattinson, who usually looks adorable, gets a pie in the face on the set of his new film "Cosmopolis" in Toronto, Canada. hollywoodnews.com: Fans who prefer a clean-shaven, elegantly dressed Robert Pattinson were in for a treat this week when unofficial photos from the set of “Cosmopolis” found their way into the public view. David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel finds Pattinson playing Eric Parker, a billionaire financier who suffers a barrage of misfortunes through the course of a single day-long limousine ride. It was his daughter, Caitlin Cronenberg, who tweeted the quickly circulating photo of Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon.
Pattinson’s look in the film is distinct from anything we’ve seen in his previous screen performances. Eric Parker is all custom suits, slicked back hair, and the fine accessories to match. Young, wealthy, and at the top of his game, DeLillo’s Parker acts the part of the consummate professional. Indeed, Parker’s appearance becomes a symbol in DeLillo’s tale.

While the former film starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, and Keira Knightley has a rumored Venice Film Festival premiere in the works, we won’t be seeing the latter until 2012. Now, thanks to Bleeding Cool, we have the first image from the film. Taken by Cronenberg’s professional photographer daughter Caitlin via Twitter, it features Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in a taxi and can be seen below.
Based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis is the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker (Robert Pattinson) who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut. Caitlin Cronenberg is the most popular gal on Twitter today. The photographer — and daughter of director David Cronenberg — tweeted this picture of Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon as Eric Parker and his wife Elise in Cosmpolis. The movie went into production in Toronto this week and already we’re like “Asdfghjkl” with excitement over it. It’s a sexual and suspenseful tale, and if Rob’s clean shaven jaw is any indicator, we’re going to be in for a wild ride. Can’t. Wait. We’ve seen a lot of comments about the pic on Twitter today, specifically about Rob’s hair. Tell us — is he doing it for you in this photo?

The principal photography for “Cosmopolis” started in Toronto today, according to BreakingDawnMovie.org and the official website for the film, Cosmopolisthefilm.com. The film, directed by David Cronenberg (“Crash”, “A History of Violence”), follows a multimillionaire on a 24-hour journey across Manhattan, which starts as a simple trip to get a haircut. The simple trip to get a haircut evolves into a story about the relationship between the multimillionaire and his father, his relationship to his wife, and betting against the yen. The film, based on Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, stars Robert Pattinson (“Water for Elephants”, “Twilight” series) as the multimillionaire in question, Eric Parker. Also in the cast...

David Cronenberg has been attached to Cosmopolis since 2009, and his cast is finally starting to shape up. According to Showblitz, the latest addition to the already talent-filled cast is Kevin Durand.
Based on the 2003 novel by Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis is the story of a young multi-billionaire named Eric Parker (Robert Pattinson) who journeys across Manhattan in his luxurious, hi-tech stretch limo to get a haircut. The story covers roughly one day in Parker’s life, during which time he meets a motley cast of characters (played by Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, and Sarah Gadon, among others), losing his fortune along the way.
Durand fits into this impressive lineup as Parker’s bodyguard. Lost fans will recognize him from his similar role as Charles Widmore’s right hand man, Martin Keamy. Those less fortunate will recognize him as The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I love it when actors choose a new role that is the polar opposite of most of their previous work. Today I was pleased to learn that typecasted comedy star Jay Baruchel has signed on to director David Cronenberg's next drama Cosmopolis, Deadline reports.
Baruchel joins an already impressive cast list that features Robert Pattison, Paul Giamatti, Samantha Morton and Juliette Binoche.
Cronenberg adapted the screenplay from Don DeLillo's novel Cosmopolis, which tells the story of a successful financial wiz and multi-millionaire named Eric Parker (Pattison) who during a hectic day of riding in his limo throughout Manhattan, somehow manages to lose his entire fortune. ...

hollywoodnews.com: If everything Robert Pattinson touches turns to gold, will the British mega-star work his alchemy on “Cosmopolis”? The 2003 novel is considered to be one of author Don DeLillo’s weakest works, and its current revival has cultivated a new crop of unflattering reviews.
“My Mind is Blown, and Not in a Good Way” read a recent headline from the Robert Pattinson fan blog, “Rob My World”, which is hosting a chapter-by-chapter readalong of DeLillo’s text. The abysmal three-star Amazon.com rating—not to mention similar critical commentary—corroborates widespread doubts about the quality of the book. Reviews like these stand apart from those of the novels corresponding to Pattinson’s earlier films; “Water for Elephants” was a New York Times Bestseller and “The Twilight Saga” was internationally renowned.
Perhaps it was not the story, but the character, who compelled Pattinson to take the role.

Robert Pattinson is set to take the lead in David Cronenberg's next oddball adventure, Cosmopolis. It won't be long before the cast of Twilight don't have a vampire saga to rely on for work, and Robert Pattinson is working as hard as anyone to make sure there's life after Edward. He's likely to appear in Cronenberg's next movie, based on a novel by author Don DeLillo, in which a financial braniac called Eric Parker (Pattinson) gets into hot water when his money-market gambling upsets a certain, interested party, who set out to get him.
