- Originally intent on a career as a sound effects editor in New York, Heather Page was quickly lured into the camera department during a backup stint as a camera PA. Not formally trained in cinematography, she learned her craft from the bottom up, becoming a highly in-demand focus puller, especially for her Steadicam work, and camera operator at a time when women in the camera department were few, especially on big-budget studio projects.
In 2012, while sitting on a dolly on a set in Los Angeles, Heather got a call notifying her she had been appointed Director of the Texas Film Commission by Texas Governor Rick Perry, where she used her platform to promote Texas as a geographically diverse, talent-rich, and economically friendly filming destination until September 2017, when she resigned to attend to her ailing father. While at the TFC, she built a more attractive incentive program that saw instant success, especially with television production for the major studios, that increased the state's production and job creation by more than 250%. During her tenure, Heather spearheaded programming changes widely recognized for broadening Texas Film Commission's outreach, marketing, and recruiting efforts to both the industry and Texas communities while improving the agency's efficiency.
Since 2018, Heather has worked as a consultant for the film, television, and video game industries, helping productions large and small navigate production challenges, state and local governments, locations and facilities, incentive programs, a global pandemic, and creative content issues. She also served as Interim Studios Director at Austin Studios to oversee the organization's recent facility growth and expansion. In 2021, Heather partnered with fellow industry veteran and Texas Industry advocate, Mindy Raymond, to form The Shine Company, a customized services firm providing business strategies to develop film industry infrastructure and tourism. weareshineco.com- IMDb Mini Biography By: Heather Page
