Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode 10, the season finale, picks up just seconds after the end of episode nine. Keiko (Mari Yamamoto) has just saved Cate (Anna Sawai) from being attacked by a Titan, and it’s obvious Cate’s more shocked about seeing her grandmother than she is about almost being eaten.
Cate’s upset that May’s not with her and doesn’t respond when Keiko asks if she came with Bill Randa or Lee Shaw. Keiko has no idea that time has passed or that she’s talking to her granddaughter.
Keiko reveals she set up a beacon and thinks that her rescue signal is what brought Cate into this world that she’s named Axis Mundi (the pole between Heaven and Earth). Cate knows nothing about the signal, and...

Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode eight ended with a gut-wrenching cliffhanger that saw Cate, May, and Lee tumbling through a rift. Episode nine, the season’s penultimate, keeps us hanging about their fate and instead opens with a flashback to a Monarch test site in Kansas, 1962, and a young Hiroshi being babysat by Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell) and Bill Randa (Anders Holm).
Scratch that…it’s actually Bill who’s pulled babysitting duty for the day as Lee is about to make history by traveling into a rift via a specially constructed ship. Before leaving, Lee loans Hiroshi his pocketknife to hold onto until he returns.
Bill and Lee have grown close to Hiroshi, and Lee compliments Bill on the job he’s doing raising the boy. Lee thinks Keiko would be proud.

Cate, Kentaro, and May are under Monarch’s control as Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode five begins. Despite their circumstances, none of the captured friends are willing to in any way assist the top-secret agency.
Duvall (Elisa Lasowski) determines that schoolteacher Cate (Anna Sawai) and artist Kentaro (Ren Watabe) really don’t know anything. But May (Kiersey Clemons) is a different story. She knows how to disappear, but even the Monarch authorities can’t figure out what she’s hiding from.
Tim (Joe Tippett) suggests they recruit Cate and Kentaro since they have the organization in their blood. It doesn’t hurt that they also want to find out exactly what happened to their dad. Duvall thinks they should set Cate, Kentaro, and May free but continue to monitor their activities.

Williams, still in human form, was rocking his character’s classic mohawk, while sitting next to Sheamus dressed in punk attire. [1] The ubiquitous Michael Fassbender will be joining fellow Irishmen Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy and Domhnall Gleeson in Brendan Gleeson's directorial debut, a big-screen adaptation of Flann O'Brien's classic novel At Swim-Two-Birds. The project has been a long time in the works -- Gleeson initially acquired the book rights seven years ago -- but it seems to finally be picking up steam thanks to some new financers. Shooting is scheduled to begin next spring. First published in 1939, At Swim-Two-Birds is considered one of the greatest examples of metafiction ever written. The plot revolves around a university student and writer whose characters rebel and eventually conspire to kill him. Although I've never read the novel, that all-star cast seems like reason enough to get excited for the film. Alison Pill, Sam Waterston, Olivia Munn, John Gallagher Jr., Thomas Sadoski and Josh Pence [2] are also signed on to star. Few details have been given on Patel's character, but it is said that he will be "a series regular who works at the channel." [1] Scarlett Johansson may seem like an unlikely lead for a Judd Apatow film, but in this context her casting actually makes a lot of sense. Johansson has signed on to star in Can a Song Save Your Life?, which will be written and directed by John Carney (Once) and produced by Apatow. The film follows “a washed-up A&R man who forms a passionate bond with a young singer-songwriter (Johansson) from out of town.” The project calls for Johansson to sing, which shouldn't be a problem for the actress. Johansson is in fact a professional singer, having released an album of Tom Waits covers titled Anywhere I Lay My Head back in 2008 and a collaboration with Pete Yorn called Break Up in 2009. Though the male lead has yet to be cast, Mark Ruffalo and Jim Carrey have been rumored as possibilities. (Fwiw, I vote Ruffalo.) Shooting on the film will...

"Ab Aeterno" is one of the better episodes of this season of "Lost" for several reasons, chief among them that this show genuinely enjoys getting caught up in its own complicated backstory. At times, yes, the episode felt like a bit of an exposition dump, but it was the first episode in a long while to stay almost completely in one timeline, and it also filled in some interesting gaps in the history of the island and some major characters. But it was also notable for the way it played into the show's love of moral ambiguity. If Verbal Kint's hypothesis was that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist, then the "Lost" version is that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world that he's actually God. "Lost" isn't afraid to call good and evil for what they are, but it's also not prone to...

Story: The story of the seemingly immortal Richard Alpert (Nestor Carbonell) is finally revealed. How did Richard get to the Island? What is his relationship to Jacob (Mark Pellegrino) and the Man in Black (Titus Welliver), better known as The Smoke Monster? Why does he seem so lost in light of Jacob's death? How is it that he can't age? What's up with the eyeliner?
The answers to all of those questions and more — except for the eyeliner thing — are contained within "Ab Aeterno." You can learn the spoiler-filled truth after the jump.

The March 23 episode will focus on Richard Alpert and – God willing – we'll finally get to learn more about his backstory. From recent episodes I think it's safe to assume what many had suspected – that Richard is somehow tied to the Black Rock ship (possibly as a slave on the ship), that Jacob seemed to "gift" him with immortality. From the synopsis below we can see that both Jacob and the Man in Black will be making appearances, so flashbacks to Richard's life are probably likely.
I like the side-ways universe but, as I told Doc Arzt last night, I'd rather the show be focusing on the island and solving its mysteries than showing us another universe with familiar characters. We still don't know how or why the never-crash universe is important and I'm getting kind of antsy. So if a Richard-centric episode will focus on the island, then I'm all for it.
