While envisioning Parasites, writer/director Chad Ferrin had to be mainlining heavy doses of Assault On Precinct 13 and Escape From New York. Socio-political extremism, synthy musical composition, aggressive violence – Parasites runs straight out of the 70s and onto our digital screens. Ferrin extrapolates an ever-growing homelessness rate and turns it into an urban question of purification, complete with political commentary that boasts seething prejudice. America’s scummiest, most neglected stones are overturned with satirical pause – but only on a shoestring-budget that struggles to drive home Ferrin’s fiery, enraged survival story.

McCurry Films and ZenWeasel Films recently announced that their joint production Slices, a horror anthology, is now finished. The new poster seen below was created by filmmaker/FX artist Marcus (100 Tears) Koch, and Lance Polland, one of the contributing filmmakers, gave Fango some info about the flick.
“Slices is in the vein of such movies as The Twilight Zone or the Creepshow series—five different stories, five different styles” he tells us before going on to detail the individual tales. “ ’The Exterminator,’ directed by Vito [B-movie: The Making Of Farmhouse Massacre] Trabucco, is very much in the style of Saw or Hostel. It centers on a big business CEO who gets kidnapped and tortured by one of his own henchmen. ‘The Range,’ which I directed, is a period piece set in the Old West. It features three Confederate soldiers on the run who come face to face with flesheating zombies.
