ABC made the shocking decision to cancel Home Economics last week after three seasons.
Series co-creator Michael Colton took to social media over the weekend to reflect on working on the show and the next steps.
"I spent a couple days off Twitter, so I'm just now catching up to the outpouring of love and support for our show," Colton wrote on X on Sunday.
"Making 42 episodes of Home Economics has been the best experience of my career, and that's due to our incredible cast, crew, and fans…"
"Though the show has run its course at ABC, I'm hopeful the Hayworths will pop up somewhere else, if only so I can continue to embarrass my real-life family. Love you all, and #LupeForever."
It's notoriously difficult to save a series after its cancellation because the cast options expire, complicating a renewal.

ABC has canceled the comedy series “Home Economics” after three seasons, Variety has learned. In addition, the new series “High Potential” starring Kaitlin Olson is now slated to debut in fall 2024.
“Home Economics” aired its third season finale in January of this year, which will now serve as its series finale. The series was one of just two ABC shows that remained on the bubble, with the other being the spinoff “The Rookie: Feds.”
“Home Economics” was a solid performer for ABC but never quite a breakout. ABC picked up the show for a 13 episode third season but then declined to expand the order beyond that. Fans of the show were given a glimmer of hope over the summer when ABC reportedly extended the casts’ options, meaning they were still considering a fourth season, but it ultimately did not come to pass.

Some possible optimism here for the future of ABC’s Home Economics. We’ve learned that cast options have been extended beyond the June 30 deadline, possibly indicating that renewal prospects are good for the comedy series that remains on the bubble. There has been no decision on a renewal yet, however, we hear.
ABC, Lionsgate and ABC Signature declined comment.
Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds are the two ABC series that remain in limbo. As we’ve previously reported, after three seasons, Home Economics has performed respectably, especially in the 18-49 demo, even ticking up in the ratings with Abbott Elementary as a lead-in, but it has not found an extra gear.
The comedy from Michael Colton and John Aboud, inspired by Colton’s real-life experiences, documents the uncomfortable yet heartwarming relationships of three siblings in very different situations: one in the ultra-rich, one in the middle class and one scraping by.

ABC still has some decisions to make on its scripted slate.
The network has yet to make final calls on renewals for comedy Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds as well as The Good Lawyer, a backdoor pilot spinoff of The Good Doctor.
It comes after ABC passed on four of its pilots: Anthony Anderson-fronted Public Defenders and Ellie Kemper-led Keeping It Together, which is a remake of British comedy Motherland, as well as dramas The Hurt Unit, starring Melissa George and Ben McKenzie, and Judgement starring Sex/Life’s Sarah Shahi.
Deadline understands that ABC is unlikely to make all of these decisions until the writers strike is over and the future of the fall season is clearer. A decision on Home Economics may come first out of the three.

At the end of Home Economics‘ penultimate Season 3 episode earlier this month, Topher Grace’s Tom willingly gets pulled into a passionate kiss by Eddie Cibrian’s hunky contractor Santiago. The twist? While, yes, it was all just a dream, it was Tom’s dream.
The series’ subsequent season finale on Jan. 18 made no mention of the surprise smooch, but that has not stopped fans from wondering aloud whether Tom’s fantasy about his wife Marina’s (Karla Souza) ridiculously handsome colleague serves as confirmation that the eldest Hayworth sib is bisexual.

Last Friday, Netflix released a fun vampire slayer action flick called Day Shift (you can read our 7/10 review Here)… and if you watched the movie, you may have noticed that it had a goofy end credits song called “Mowing Down Vamps”, which built a tune around a line spoken by the character played by Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist). The song around Franco’s line was performed by The Bsb Boys (J Young Mdk and Sam Pounds) alongside the film’s star Jamie Foxx (Spider-Man: No Way Home) – and now Foxx has released a video for the song.
The music video, directed by Taylor Chien, features Foxx, Franco, some vampire fights, and a good dose of silliness. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Meagan Good's latest film role is keeping her optimistic about motherhood. The veteran actor stars in Netflix's "Day Shift" alongside Jamie Foxx (who plays a blue-collar vampire hunter named Bud Jablonski) - as well as Dave Franco, Snoop Dogg, and Karla Souza - as his ex-wife Jocelyn, who threatens to take their daughter, Paige (Zion Broadnax), to Florida to live a better life away from his unpredictable profession. Now streaming on Netflix, Day Shift turns Jamie Foxx into a vampire-slayer, and the movie has now received an official music video for the original song that plays over the end credits.

The action-packed vampire fight scenes in Netflix's "Day Shift" are easily the highlight of the just-released sci-fi comedy. And while the Jamie Foxx-led film - which also stars Dave Franco, Snoop Dogg, and Meagan Good - tapped professional contortionists and other performers to capture its intense, supernatural magic, one of the movie's other leads was adamant about doing her own stunts.

Stephanie Zacharek of Time Magazine praises the movie’s lead, stating Foxx’s film “has three things going for it, the first being its jaunty spirit and its reckless disregard for making any sense whatsoever. Ok, maybe that’s two things, but you get the drift.” In the end, the film delivers on what it promised. “Foxx goes above and beyond the call of duty, seemingly without even trying.”

An LA vampire hunter has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid’s tuition and braces. Trying to make a living these days just might kill him.
J.J. Perry‘s new vampire action comedy Day Shift is exactly the kind of movie you’ll expect it to be when going in. If you honestly go into this film expecting anything even remotely award-worthy, then you’re going in with the completely wrong mindset. I would tell you to go into the film and turn your brain off because you’ll enjoy it then, but the truth is, you likely won’t. This is a disappointingly boring movie that wastes the talent of Jamie Foxx, thrusting him into a film with a...

This article contains mild Day Shift spoilers.
Netflix’s latest dip into horror-adjacent entertainment, Day Shift, is the directorial debut of veteran stunt coordinator J.J. Perry, best known for his work on John Wick: Chapter 2 and F9: The Fast Saga, and it speeds to the same stylish finish as those high octane films. How could it not? The film is produced by Chad Stahelski, who has directed or co-directed every entry in the John Wick franchise, and never met a subtly suspenseful mystery he couldn’t turn into a full-throttle action-adventure extravaganza. Jamie Foxx, a diverse and accomplished performer in all conceivable formats of entertainment, plays Bud Jablonski, a working man’s vampire hunter. Sadly, Bud’s film is in such a rush to find targets for him that it misses the vampires altogether.

Netflix's "Day Shift" isn't your average vampire-hunting movie, and film star Karla Souza can attest to that. The "How to Get Away With Murder" alum stars in the action sci-fi-comedy as Audrey, a ruthless, ancient vampire boss who just so happens to be San Fernando Valley's most powerful real-estate agent, too.
"I felt like it was a really strong female character, and it was breaking that stereotype of what normally is asked of Latinas in these type of films."
"Day Shift," directed by J.J. Perry, follows blue-collar vampire hunter Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) as he tries to earn enough cash hunting down vampires to prevent his wife (Meagan Good) and daughter (Zion Broadnax) from moving away from the Valley. In the process, he unknowingly kills Audrey's daughter and must team up with some unlikely allies - fellow vampire hunter Big John Elliott (Snoop Dogg...
