Kaitlin Butts wraps her Tulsa, Oklahoma, voice around Kesha’s “Hunt You Down” to create a version of the song that’s even more country-sounding than the original. Written by Kesha and Rick Nowels, “Hunt You Down” first appeared on Kesha’s 2017 album Rainbow. Butts’ interpretation arrives as a standalone single during a moment when cowboy music and culture is having a revival, thanks to artists like Charley Crockett, Luke Grimes, and even Beyoncé.
“The first time I heard ‘Hunt You Down,’ I quickly identified with it,” Butts said in a statement.

It’s been almost two months since Lana Del Rey dropped her ninth studio album, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, and the singer is back with a new single, “Say Yes to Heaven.” Listen to the song below.
Originally co-written with Rick Nowels in 2012, the official release of “Say Yes to Heaven” has been long-awaited. An early version of the track leaked in 2016, and quickly became popular on TikTok and among her fan community. Several other versions circulated throughout the years, and the song’s mysterious reputation grew… now, however, it appears the definitive version has arrived.
The official version of “Say Yes to Heaven” differs from previous leaks, but captures the same moodiness. An electric guitar plucks out a minor progression beneath Del Rey’s croon, as she muses on love with her signature, poetic ambiguity. Another, more ethereal guitar line bookends the stanzas,...

Late Thursday evening, Lil Nas X took the stage at the Marquis Marriott Hotel in New York City as the youngest honoree of the night as he accepted the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The honor, presented to young songwriters impacting the music industry through original songs, was presented to the 23-year-old artist two-and-a-half hours into the 51st annual induction ceremony. The night may have been dragging on with back-to-back 10-plus minute speeches punctuated with equally long performances, but Lil Nas X wouldn’t keep the audience for long.

“I’m ready to leave L.A., and I want you to come,” Lana Del Rey sings on her latest album Chemtrails Over the Country Club. “Eighty miles north or south will do.” It’s an escapist fantasy the pop singer has entertained before: stealing away from the City of Angels in a pickup truck that no one recognizes. But thankfully – for us, at least – she never acts on her wishes. On Chemtrails, her most subdued and introspective album thus far, , just as she did on her previous effort, 2019’s electrifying Norman Fucking Rockwell!

On January 16 the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its list of artists being inducted for 2020: Mariah Carey, Eurythmics, The Isley Brothers, Steve Miller, The Neptunes, Rick Nowels and William “Mickey” Stevenson. The 51st annual induction ceremony will take place on June 11 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.
The announcement of Carey’s induction comes just a couple of weeks after “All I Want for Christmas is You” became her 19th number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, extending her record for solo artists — only The Beatles have more number-ones, as they amassed 20 over the course of their careers. Carey’s achievement is even more impressive when you consider that she co-wrote 18 of those hits. The only one she didn’t have a hand in composing was “I’ll Be There,” her cover of a Jackson 5 hit.

In case you missed it, pop sensation Lana Del Rey co-wrote and performed two original songs for director Tim Burton's upcoming film “Big Eyes.” Grammy-nominated Del Rey is evidently a big fan of Burton’s. “I've admired Tim Burton's work for many years and I'm honored to work with him on such a poignant project," she said in a statement. Del Rey sings "Big Eyes" in the movie, a song she co-wrote with Daniel Heath — and which is featured front and center in the film — and "I Can Fly," which she co-wrote with Rick Nowels and which plays out in the credits. Here's the full synopsis for the movie: From the whimsical mind of director Tim Burton, Big Eyes tells the outrageous true story of one of the most epic art frauds in history. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, painter Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) had reached success beyond belief,...

Lana Del Rey will release two new songs for Tim Burton's upcoming period drama “Big Eyes.” The songs were kept a secret until the film started screening for critics and insiders a few days ago, and now have now been officially announced by The Weinstein Company. Burton's drama centers around the life of Margaret Keane (Amy Adams), the artist who caused a sensation in the 1950s with her paintings of big-eyed children. But it was her then husband Walter (Christoph Waltz) who took credit for her work. It wasn’t until years later Margaret revealed to the world that the paintings were her work. It’s the kind of material that seems perfect for Del Rey, whose songs often depict women in situations of powerlessness. The songs are "I Can Fly" (co-written by Rick Nowels) which plays during the end credits, and "Big Eyes" (co-written with Daniel Heath) which...

While some of the music we’ve heard for “The Great Gatsby” sounds like way too much of a stretch, even by Baz Luhrmann’s admittedly broad, genre-busting/time-busting standards, Lana Del Rey’s aching “Young and Beautiful” fits in perfectly. The country singer admits he would never rule out a collaboration with his actress wife – who showed off her vocal talents in ‘Moulin Rouge!’ – because they have so much fun singing together at home. He said: “Would we do something together? I don’t think it’s ever out of the question. I don’t know. We sort of do our own things professionally. But I love singing with her at home. It’s quite nice. She’s a huge inspiration for everything I do.” Nicole, 42, may not be the only member of his family Keith collaborates with in future. The singer also revealed that the couple’s 16-month-old daughter Sunday Rose is already showing signs of musical talent. He explained to America’s Ok! magazine: “She’s got some pipes. They’re loud, you know! I think so. I think she sounds quite musical. Sit her at the piano...

Keith said: "Rick's music pulled this story out of me, which became quite a confessional - much more intimate than I might have written had I intended to write about her.
