With the Wonder Woman live action movie set to arrive in theaters in just over two months, it’s understandable that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment will want to put out as much merchandise bearing the likeness of the Amazon Princess as possible. One item in particular that’s worthy of attention is that of the forthcoming Wonder Woman: Commemorative Edition.
Truth be told, it’s technically not a new offering, but rather a repackaging of the amazing animated film originally released back in 2009. Unfortunately, no R-rated cut will be included as was previously reported. Despite any second guessing you may have, do know that one exists out there somewhere, as the filmmakers have admitted they had to make some alterations in order to get the PG-13 rating because, at the time, WB didn’t afford as much leeway with mature content as they do now.

About three months ago Bloody Disgusting reported that a new found footage flick was on its way from Universal called Paranormalists. After that we heard nothing. Now today confirmation has finally come.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures' Syfy Films has acquired Paranormalists, a pitch from Rob Letterman (Monsters Vs. Aliens), who is also attached to write and direct the project.
Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce, while Kim Roth and Sarah Bowen will exec produce. Gregory Noveck, Syfy's senior VP of production, will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
The storyline, which is in the vein of the "Ghost Hunters" reality series, follows two stoners and a tech guy who stumble upon some paranormal activity for the first time. More as it comes, but I say again, didn't we already kind of/sort of see this with Grave Encounters?

George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series is a huge hit for HBO, so it's no wonder that Hollywood is looking to his other works in the hope of duplicating that success.
Acquired by Syfy Films - a joint venture between the Syfy channel and Universal Pictures - is Wild Cards, a superhero anthology edited, co-created and co-written by Martin.
First published back in 1987 and set in an alternate history in which an alien virus was released over New York, killing 90 per cent of those infected, Wild Cards follows the stories of the surviving population and how the illness reshaped the world. Those lucky enough not to die either found themselves transformed into grossly-mutated husks of their former selves, or into superhuman beings possessing extraordinary powers.
Taking a more realistic and gritty approach with the storytelling, Wild Cards many volumes use an almost real-time methodology with the stories,...

Game Of Thrones Author goes Syfy with his Wild Cards
George R. R. Martin, author of the enthralling A Song of Ice and Fire saga, has made a deal with SyFy Films to bring another of his works to life. HBO launched the first season of Game of Thrones, based on A Song of Ice and Fire, earlier this year to critical and fan praise. Now Martin’s Wild Cards is being worked on to become a potential film franchise. Wild Cards is a superhero anthology edited by Martin, featuring many different writers since the anthology series first began in 1987.
The SyFy adaptation would supposedly include the same backstory as the anthology, which revolves around an alien virus that overtakes New York, killing almost everyone that contracts the virus. All survivors either become deformed or receive superpowers. Martin acts as a leader of sorts for the anthology, bringing all the material together and editing it,...

The screen rights to Wild Cards, the superhero fantasy book series created and edited by George R. R. Martin, have been bought by Syfy Films.
It's been nearly one year since the Syfy Channel said that they were getting into the feature movie business. Wild Cards is the highest profile project for the baby film producer. Based on a book series that began in 1987, it's a modern day take on superheroes that's been given a hard reality spin. Shortly after the end of World War II, an alien virus mutates a small percentage of the world's population, disfiguring some and giving fantastic superpowers to others. Throughout the decade the world adapts to having "aces" (those gifted with powers that look like normal human beings) and "jokers" (the people disfigured and changed hidiously by the Wild Card virus), with some becoming celebrities, politicians, movie stars and even superheroes.

It seems like fantasy novelist George R.R. Martin is making the rounds through Hollywood these days. The hit HBO medieval drama Game of Thrones is adapted from Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire series; it was picked up for a second season just two days after its premiere back in April and garnered critical acclaim during its first (along with some major Emmy nods and a win).
Now, Martin‘s science fiction, shared-universe superhero anthology, Wild Cards, is being adapted by SyFy Films as the company’s first project. The company was launched last December when SyFy Ventures and Universal Pictures teamed-up for the new film group. [Deadline]
SyFy Films plan to make two movies per year by 2012, and will partially do so through hiring former DC Comics executive, Gregory Noveck, as Senior Vice President of Production. For a first-time project, SyFy Films is definitely taking on a big commitment,...

Once Warner Bros get Green Lantern out of the way in a couple of weeks time and baring a financial disaster, I had expected attention to swiftly turn to a movie based on The Flash (or Wonder Woman, but she’s got a small screen debut forthcoming) but there’s another superhero character, this one definitely a B-list guy, which could beat the fastest man alive into cinema’s.
It’s On The Grid (via Badass Digest) say a movie version of Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville’s DC superhero Hawkman is being developed, carrying the following plot line;
Part Indiana Jones/Da Vinci Code, part Ghost tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic...

I was having some problems finding anything interesting to write about today, and on the verge of giving up when I found an article that caught my attention. THR stated today that Gregory Noveck will be leading SyFy's film department in to the great unknown. Judging by the pies he has had his fingers in lately this could prove to be a very wise move for SyFy and Universal. He has been on the teams that brought us Nolan's Batman reboot, Watchmen, Green Lantern, among others. He was also involved with popular television series Human Target, and the less popular, but fun nonetheless, Jeremiah. ...

2Nd Update: Universal Pictures co-chairman Donna Langley felt that Gregory Noveck was a self-starter who'll be able to get Syfy Films up and running quick enough to have a couple of films ready for release in 2012. Now, the studio isn't looking for the division to make feature versions of Mansquito or Sharktopus, Piranhaconda or Snowmageddon, some of the pics being programmed for the network. The model will be more in the Paranormal Activity mode, or Syfy projects like Battlestar Galactica and the miniseries Taken, with Noveck taking advantage of being able to make films in the $15 million-$25 million budget range. From a distance, it didn't seem as though Noveck was able to get DC Comics' film productions going beyond the Batman and Superman franchises. But Syfy president Mark Stern said the network collaborated with him on TV projects and that he worked closely on Batman, Watchmen and the Green Lantern franchises.

HeyUGuys, along with the entire UK population, spent the first half of this week awaiting word of the latest governmental spending review. Word went out on Wednesday afternoon that, among the many controversial reforms our coalition government intended to enforce, the state pension age was set to rise to 66 by the year 2018. On Friday in the UK an unusual new action comedy opens in which a group of pensioners take issue with a rather more permanent retirement plan and tool up to fight back. The film is Red.
Frank Moses is trying hard to live the suburban dream. He puts out his bins, marks the changing of the seasons and keeps himself to himself like any good neighbour. Sarah Ross is slowly losing faith in the dating game. She daydreams away much of her day in her tiny grey cubicle, looking at postcards of anywhere-but-here and wishing someone would take her away from all this.

Exclusive: I've learned that an internal memo just went out at DC Entertainment announcing that Gregory Noveck will be transitioning out of his job over the next three months. He'll be resuming his producing career. Noveck spent the past 6 years with DC Comics as Svp of creative affairs, hired by president/publisher Paul Levitz to help mine the library of DC properties for movie and other media adaptation until Diane Nelson took over the newly created DC Entertainment last September to better integrate DC's theatrical and TV releases with Warner Bros. Noveck was most hands-on with the DC Universe line of direct-to-video animation, and also the production of the Secret Origin: The Story Of DC Comics documentary, and, most notably, the upcoming film Red. He's an executive producer on that Summit Entertainment release this October adapted to the big screen from Warren Ellis' and Cully Hamner's comic book.
