Stand-up comedian / actor Bill Burr just made his feature directorial debut with the Netflix-released comedy Old Dads (you can read the JoBlo review at This Link), which is cool and all… but here on Arrow in the Head, the horror side of the JoBlo Network, we’re more interested in hearing Burr’s opinions on horror films. That’s why it caught our attention when YouTuber James Whale Bake Sale made a video to go with a clip from Burr’s podcast Monday Morning Podcast in which the comedian discusses the horror classic Friday the 13th – and goes on to explain why he stopped watching horror movies.
The video can be seen at the bottom of this article, and over the course of its five minutes he admits that the final jump scare in Friday the 13th really did scare the hell out of him, says that the franchise...

In Sean S. Cunningham's 1980 slasher flick "Friday the 13th," Kevin Bacon plays a camp counselor named Jack who meets a memorable end. Jack and his girlfriend Marcie (Jeannine Taylor) enjoy a zesty round of marijuana and coitus while, unbeknownst to them, the corpse of their friend Ned (Mark Nelson) is stored in the ceiling above them. Marcie leaves to take a shower, and Jack lays back on the bed to relax and have a toke. A drop of blood lands on his brow. Jack is momentarily confused. His confusion doesn't last long, however, as the hand of a mysterious killer -- possibly the presumed-dead Jason Voorhees -- pops up from under the bed and grabs him by the forehead. An arrow pushes up from underneath the bed, puncturing Jack's neck from behind. The arrowhead emerges from his throat, and blood spurts up onto his face. Jack dies wearing a startled expression.

Three years ago, Paramount Pictures gave the 1980 classic Friday the 13th (watch it Here) a Blu-ray steelbook release to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. Now the folks at Fridaythe13thFranchise have caught word that Paramount is set to give the film a 4K steelbook release on October 10th – three days before an actual Friday the 13th rolls around on the calendar. They even got their hands on a picture of the 4K steelbook, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.
It looks like this steelbook will be using the same artwork as the Blu-ray steelbook, but it will also come with a slipcover featuring artwork that was used for Waxwork Records’ vinyl release of the film’s score.
Directed by Sean S. Cunningham from a screenplay by Victor Miller, Friday the 13th has the following synopsis: Crystal Lake’s history of murder doesn’t...

A new episode of The Manson Brothers Show, which is hosted by the writers/stars of the horror comedy The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre – Chris Margetis (Stone Manson) and Mike Carey (Skull Manson) – has just been released, and in this one the boys head out to Camp Crystal Lake for a viewing of the 1980 classic Friday the 13th (watch it Here)! To find out what they had to say about the rampage Jason Voorhees’ mom went on, check out the video embedded above.
Directed by Sean S. Cunningham from a screenplay by Victor Miller, Friday the 13th has the following synopsis: Crystal Lake’s history of murder doesn’t deter counselors from setting up a summer camp in the woodsy area. Superstitious locals warn against it, but the fresh-faced young people — Jack, Alice, Bill, Marcie, and Ned — pay little heed to the old-timers. Then they find themselves stalked by a brutal killer.

Sean S. Cunningham directs this legendary Friday 13, the first of an endless saga of terror films that gave rise to one of the bloodiests baddies in the history of movies: Jason Voorhees
Friday 13 was the second slasher in the history of movies which for many might not seem to be much, but for fans of horror films, this was a revelation and for producers a product with great rentability.

In the Crystal Lake camp two kids have died recently, and now the camp attempts to open its gates again with new monitors who arrive at the camp to prepare everything. However, someone does not seem to agree with this and starts methodically killing off the campers.

In the ’80s, a group of scientists and artists wanted to know if they could recreate Earth’s ecosystem, so they built Biosphere 2 (Earth was known as Biosphere 1) in Oracle, Ariz.
The experiment was not only scientific, but a social one where eight scientists locked themselves in the Biosphere from 1991 to 1993. There would be no supplies and no physical contact with the outside world.
On September 26,1991, Mark Van Thillo, Sally Silverstone, Mark Nelson, Linda Leigh, Taber McCallum, Roy Walford, Abigail Alling, and Jane Poynter, collectively known as “the synergists” were locked in the biosphere, a 3.15-acre home, a self-sustaining mini-world.
The media and scientists deemed the experiment a huge failure as rumors of food being sent to the “enclosed ecosystem” and lack of oxygen started to circulate.
Almost 30 years later, documentary filmmaker Matt Wolf’s new film, “Spaceship Earth” tells a captivating and uncannily timely story in this era of quarantine and social distancing.

They were going to make history on that day in September, 1991. The eight members of Biosphere 2, a closed-system laboratory filled with both living environments (rain forests, desert landscapes, deep-sea coral gardens) and living quarters, were entering the elaborate research facility in Oracle, Arizona. Amidst a lot of media fanfare, they were about to embark on a two-year journey inside the biomes and away from the outside world. The glass windows surrounding the buildings would allow them to see out and let visitors, tourists and other lookie-loos to peer in. But...

Director Matt Wolf said he was inspired to make his new documentary, “Spaceship Earth,” after seeing photographs of Linda Leigh and Mark Nelson in bright red jumpsuits in front of the massive early-1990s science experiment known as Biosphere 2. “I was just doing research online, and I saw these very compelling images of eight people including these two (Leigh and Nelson) in bright red jumpsuits in front of this enormous glass pyramid, and I actually thought it was still from science fiction film and when I realized it was real,” Wolf told TheWrap’s Steve Pond at the Sundance Film Festival. In 1991, eight men and women were sealed into Biosphere 2, an airtight terrarium in the Arizona desert containing a miniature replica of Earth’s environment. Funded by a Texas oil tycoon hoping to acquire licensable technologies for space colonization, the mission of Biosphere 2 was to maintain an isolated, sustainable environment for two years.

Chicago – Every time a movie gets remade, you can expect the original to appear in some varying degree of “special” edition on the home market. A week-and-a-half from the Michael Bay produced and Marcus Nispel remake of “Friday the 13th,” Paramount has unleashed deluxe editions of the original on Blu-Ray and the first two sequels on DVD.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 The funny thing about revisiting Sean Cunningham’s original slasher hit is that one is reminded of the fact that it’s really not that great a movie if you judge it outside of its influence. The film is a slice of nostalgia that holds an important place in movie history and is a must-own for even the most casual horror fanatic, but it’s really not that well-made.
