Welcome, one and all, to the second annual Nerdly WWE Top 50! I began this idea last year. Our version of such established ranking lists as the “Pwi 500” and the like, but just with WWE in mind. I mean, I watch other products and promotions, like Aew, New Japan, Ring of Honor and Nwa, but… sticking to one promotion, the promotion I tend to watch the most, makes sense, and makes this one-man-job a lot easier to do. This list will cover the last twelve months, from September 2019 until August of 2020.
Like last year, this will take into account work-rate, match-quality, visibility of the workers on television, their promo work, but also… and this is important to note, the way that they’ve been used. You see… there are men and women in WWE who, if they were used more often and booked in a more substantial manner, would rank way...

Match #1: Tamina def. Naomi and Lacey Evans – Triple Threat Match The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before WrestleMania’s highly-anticipated SmackDown Women’s Championship Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match, Tamina, Lacey Evans and Naomi battled it out in a hard-fought Triple Threat Match. Sasha Banks suddenly rose from the announce table to attack Lacey Evans, and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley did the same to Naomi, allowing Tamina to reign supreme over The Glow with a vicious superkick. Then, the dominant Superstar put the exclamation point on her performance by superkicking Bayley and delivering a second Samoan drop to Banks.
My Opinion: 2.6 out of...

Shunsuke Nakamura of Japan in action during the international friendly match between Japan and Ghana at Galgenwaard Stadium on September 9, 2009, in Utrecht, Netherlands. Photograph by Tsutomu Takasu via Flickr. His name doesn’t roll off the tongue of the American sports fan, but in Japan, playmaking midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura can hardly walk down the street without being mobbed by fans. His autobiography, released two years ago, sold more than 300,000 copies and was on the best-seller list for several months running. When Nakamura returned to Japanese J-League soccer this winter to join the Yokohama F Marinos after playing in Europe for the last eight years, 2,000 people came to see him don his new team’s uniform for 10 minutes, a happening unheard of in Japan. Once, while traveling by train with the Japanese football team, he was recognized buying a bottled drink from a vending machine, and supporters closed in so tight...

Artwork courtesy of Espn and the Am I Collective. Coach Takeshi Okada, who ran the team in the World Cup 12 years ago as well, has had a rough time of it lately. After Japan was embarrassed in a 3-0 friendly loss to Serbia in April, critics began to call for his firing. The only thing that might have saved his job was that with the World Cup only two months away, there was hardly time to find a replacement. That hasn’t stopped him from setting his sights on the semi-finals, a goal that stunned even his best players. The team’s only genuine star is playmaker and free-kick specialist Shunsuke Nakamura, but Okada will look to both youth and age to save the day. He’s moved Cska Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda into a more attacking role, and he’s called up 34-year old goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi for his fourth straight World Cup.
