Captain America: Brave New World was originally set to be released today, May 3, 2024. Instead, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is being re-released in theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary, an outcome we know many of you will be disappointed by.
While Marvel Studios has managed to push back many of the movie's promotional tie-ins, it seems nothing can stop McDonald's. As a result, Captain America: Brave New World Happy Meal toys are now out in the wild.
That's meant heaps of promo art finding its way online and, today, we can follow that up with a very intriguing rumour.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the movie will indeed feature the introduction of Adamantium, the virtually indestructible metal substance best known for coasting Wolverine's bones (a result of Weapon X's experiments on the mutant hero).
We've previously heard that the remains of the frozen Celestial Tiamut will be the source...

Captain America: Brave New World is nine months away from swooping into theaters, but more promo art has surfaced today which reveals that Sam Wilson will don a helmet in the movie.
Given how perfect Sam's Captain America suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was, there's already been some disappointment among fans that the hero is now basically wearing his Falcon goggles with Steve Rogers' old suit.
This headgear is another big departure and doesn't look that different from Ant-Man's helmet. However, we see a breathing tube which suggests Sam will wear this during a high-altitude battle of some sort.
There's also a nod to Captain America's "A" on the helmet, though it's relatively subtle.
Marvel Studios runs the risk of this feeling like The Falcon wearing Captain America's suit, and the pressure is on to deliver here with Captain America: Brave New World having to follow in...

Thanks to last year's strikes, Captain America: Brave New World is one of many 2024 movies now not heading our way until next year.
A few pieces of merchandise have started showing up here and there, though most of it will have been pushed back to coincide with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel's new release date.
Still, it seems nothing will mess up McDonald's Happy Meal schedule as Captain America: Brave New World toys are starting to show up in restaurants across the U.S. As well as a closer look at Red Hulk, we see Diamondback sporting a comic-accurate costume and using the same diamond tips as the version seen on the page.
With rumours swirling that the Serpent Society has been cut from the movie, this may be all we see of her.
The bigger reveal below is new promo art of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson suited up as Captain America.

The upcoming Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World is “10 times bigger” than the Disney+ series that teed it up, says Anthony Mackie.
Previewing his big-screen debut as Cap (currently due out Feb. 14, 2025), Mackie told EW.com, “One of the biggest conversations we had from the beginning was for this not to be Falcon and the Winter Soldier — Part 2, for this to be its own movie with its own story, with its own characters.”

Marvel Studios has added screenwriter Matthew Orton to the production of “Captain America: Brave New World,” ahead of the superhero sequel’s plans for additional photography sometime in the spring.
The Walt Disney Company announced a series of delays to its theatrical release slate shortly after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Along with “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts” and “Blade,” “Brave New World” was among the group of Marvel productions impacted, moving from a July 26, 2024 date to Feb. 14, 2025. That’s almost seven more months for the studio to work on the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed principal photography prior to the actors strike. Reshoots are a commonplace practice for blockbuster tentpoles, particularly Marvel productions.
Orton’s previous credits include the World War II thriller “Operation Finale” and TV work on “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight.” Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman have screenplay credits...

Julius Onah directs off of earlier drafts by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman. Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly star.

Superhero movies are ubiquitous at this point, and the biggest name in the game is Marvel. Not just any Marvel, mind you, but Marvel Studios. Starting with 2008’s “Iron Man,” Marvel Studios and its now-president Kevin Feige started experimenting with the idea of telling one long, interconnected story over multiple movies with different lead characters, crossing over from time to time – just like in the comics. That experiment proved successful with 2012’s “The Avengers,” and it’s been hit after hit ever since.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, even in the wake of the conclusive nature of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” and it can be hard to keep track of what’s coming down the pike. Below, we’ve assembled a list of every confirmed MCU movie currently in the works, when it’s coming out, who’s in it, and what we know about each project so far.

Anthony Mackie found Harrison Ford "so intimidating" on the set of 'Captain America: Brave New World'.The 44-year-old star plays the titular role - previously held by Chris Evans - in the Marvel movie alongside the 'Indiana Jones' legend, 80. who makes his debut as Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, and he was so overwhelmed by the Hollywood icon's "aura" that he started messing up his lines. However, he quickly brought him down to earth.Speaking to Inverse, Anthony recalled: “The first day was so intimidating.“I was so f***ing nervous I couldn’t remember my lines. He’s Harrison f***ing Ford. There is this aura about him. But he dispels that really quickly because he’s such a cool guy. He’s everything a movie star should be. He would say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of s***.’ And everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this s***.’”Anthony added:...

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will be the last time Harrison Ford dons a fedora and bullwhip to play the iconic adventurer, but fans will still have plenty of opportunities to see him on the big screen.
The actor is diving straight into another blockbuster Disney franchise by joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the role previously played by the late William Hurt. Ford will make his debut as the character in next summer’s “Captain America: Brave New World” before suiting up again in “Thunderbolts” next December.
Few Hollywood projects are bigger than a Marvel movie, but even Ford’s superhero co-stars found themselves intimidated by his movie star gravitas. In an interview with Inverse, Anthony Mackie recalled his nerves about working with Ford and the fittingly nonchalant way that the “Star Wars” legend put him at ease.

Way back when, during the production of the first “Star Wars,” Harrison Ford once joked to director George Lucas, “George, you can type this shit, but you can’t say it!”’
“Of course, that’s the year he gets nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay [for ‘Star Wars’ itself]. What do I know, right?” Ford said during an AFI tribute to Lucas in 2005.
For Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Julius Onah, the writers currently credited on “Captain America: Brave New World,” they can only hope history repeats itself.
During an interview with Inverse, “Captain America” star Anthony Mackie relayed an amusing anecdote about working with Ford on the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. In the new film, due out in July 2024, Ford steps in to play Thunderbolt Ross following the offscreen death of original Thunderbolt actor William Hurt. "Captain America 4" now has a new name. Originally titled "Captain America: New World Order," the movie is now "Captain America: Brave New World." Whether the new movie will pay tribute to Aldous Huxley's classic 1932 sci-fi novel "Brave New World" remains to be seen, and reps for Disney did not respond to Popsugar's request for comment about the change.
Anthony Mackie, who stars as hero Sam Wilson, announced the news on his Instagram on June 6. "When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!" he wrote in the caption. "LoL… Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend! Can't wait to do it again… Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World in theaters May 3, 2024." However, shortly after Mackie shared that post, Marvel pushed back the film's release by two months.

A first-look pic has dropped for the latest Captain America installment thanks to Marvel Studios post on Twitter. Originally titled Captain America: New World Order, has now been changed to Captain America: Brave New World.
Back in August 2021, Deadline broke the story that Anthony Mackie would be picking up the mantle of Captain America in the latest phase of the MCU. Deadline then reported in October 2022 that Harrison Ford was joining the Marvel film as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. The fourth Captain America pic will be scripted by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson (both writers from Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), and directed by Julius Onah.
Known as Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Mackie), the films follow the comic lore of the character becoming the new Captain America. In the comics, General Ross has been a staple since the 1960s and is the reason the team of misfit heroes The Thunderbolts exists.

The New World Order has fallen. We’re now in a Brave New World. Since the announcement of a fourth Captain America film, with Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson in the lead, fans have had one nagging concern: that subtitle.
To the uninformed, there’s nothing terribly wrong with Marvel calling its movie Captain America: New World Order. After all, the movie will deal with the Leader and the Serpent Society establishing a secret government, causing trouble on the world stage. However, the phrase has been used by Right Wing conspiracy theorists in the U.S., often with racist and explicitly anti-Semitic views. While Marvel likely did not mean to invoke these ideas, there’s no denying that the title may have put a damper on the first movie starring a Black Captain America for some.
So it’s quite a relief to see the latest set photos from the film,...

With just a single, relaxed, behind-the-scenes pic posted on Instagram by Anthony Mackie, everything changes for Captain America’s next big-screen MCU outing. Formerly known as New World Order, the fourth Cap movie will now proudly bear the title Brave New World, as shown on the back of the chairs in Mackie’s on-set snap. At first glance it’s a superficial change, but it’s probably a sensible idea to move away from a phrase thrown around by George Bush Sr in the ‘90s and embrace something a little more Shakespearean.
‘O brave new world, that has such people in’t.’ So says Miranda in The Tempest. She was, obviously enough, not talking about the cast of Cap 4, but if she had been, she wouldn’t have been wrong. As Mackie’s photo attests, the film includes the not inconsiderable presence of Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross...

There is already plenty of The Incredible Hulk's DNA running through Captain America: New World Order, with Tim Blake Nelson returning as Samuel Sterns (Aka The Leader) and Harrison Ford stepping to play the recurring role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from William Hurt. That role was originated by the late William Hurt, who reappeared several times for Marvel Studios, starting with 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in which Ross had become Secretary of State.
Harrison Ford is stepping into the role of Thaddeus Ross for “New World Order,” in which the character has become President of the United States.
In “The Incredible Hulk,” Tyler’s Betty Ross was the love interest for Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner; after Norton was replaced by Mark Ruffalo, Tyler’s character was mentioned in passing, but the actor had not returned in the role.

Anthony Mackie may be an MCU staple, but he’s living out a “Mission: Impossible” plot just to read the Marvel scripts.
Mackie revealed during “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that the script for upcoming “Captain America: New World Order” is held under tight lock and key. “Captain America: New World Order” will be directed by Julius Onah and is written by “The Falcon and the Winter Solider” creator Malcolm Spellman with series staff writer Dalan Musson.
“Ironically enough, I got my script today,” Mackie said on the February 28 episode of the talk show. “I haven’t read it. Haven’t opened it. I haven’t gotten my passcode to the website that lets you into the website.”
He continued, “We literally get a passcode to a website that gives us a location to meet the person to sign, to sit with a computer, and read our script. They don’t trust nobody.

When we next see Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’ll have a new gig, and it’s a mighty impressive one. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Entertainment Weekly about all things Marvel earlier today, and while talking about Captain America: New World Order, he mentioned that Ross will be the President of the United States in the movie.
“This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross,” Kevin Feige said. “He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There’s a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.

After weeks of speculation, it’s been confirmed that Harrison Ford will play General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ford is replacing William Hurt, who played the iconic character from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk to 2021’s Black Widow. Sadly, Hurt died of prostate cancer on March 13, 2022. He was 72. Ford will star in Captain America: New World Order opposite Anthony Mackie, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, and Carl Lumbly. The star-spangled sequel is the only confirmed film for Ford, though it’s presumed he’ll star in Marvel’s Thunderbolts too.

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame, bringing Captain America’s arc to a well-deserved conclusion. The events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier found Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America as it explored the implications of a Black man being given that role. Anthony Mackie will be bringing his version of Cap to the big screen with Captain America: New World Order, but there are bound to be comparisons between the two heroes.

In “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” the Disney+ series focuses on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes following the events that unfolded in “Avengers: Endgame,” including Captain America (Chris Evans) passing his shield — and legacy — down to Sam.

The big screen debut of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America just took a big step toward materializing.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah, best known his work on the sci-fi sequel “The Cloverfield Paradox” and the Sundance drama “Luce” is directing “Captain America 4.” The currently-untitled sequel is being written by “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” creator Malcolm Spellman and one of the show’s staff writers, Dalan Musson.
After years of working on short films, Onah made his feature directorial debut on the 2015 crime thriller “The Girl Is in Trouble.” He followed that by directing “The Cloverfield Paradox,” which famously debuted on Netflix without any warning following a 2018 Super Bowl commercial. His most recent film was the 2019 Sundance hit “Luce,” an adaption of J.C. Lee’s play of the same name starring Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer.

Captain America 4 has a director.
Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah, perhaps best known for helming the 2018 thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, will direct the fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios.
Anthony Mackie is starring in the feature, reprising his long-time Marvel character of Sam Wilson, but not, however, Wilson’s long-time alter ego and Captain America sidekick, Falcon. That is thanks to the events of 2021’s Marvel’s Disney+ series, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Wilson, after much self-doubt, finally accept the shield and mantle of Captain America.
It’s not known what the paths for the character will be next, but something thought-provoking is likely. Malcolm Spellman, the creator andhead writer of Winter Soldier, is penning the script with Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the show.
It is unclear whether Chris Evans would reprise his role of Steve Rogers,...

Many a mom has thrown out the comics left behind when their students headed off into the world. They didn’t know they were throwing away a future fortune.
The first comic book that featured Captain America sold at auction today for 3.1 million. The price is just short of the record of 3.6 million, set in 2014 for Spide-Man’s first comic appearance. The buyer was not identified.
The price is a far cry from the 10 cents the book sold for when it was first published in 1941. Its initial sales are lost to time, but the cover features Cap punching out Adolf Hitler, a popular notion in the war years.
Comic auctions for No. 1 issues have skyrocketed in the last few years. Superman No. 1 went for 3.2 million in 2014, while Batman’s debut fetched 2.2 million in 2021.
