Horror junkies will always love their franchises, especially ones whose installments are few enough in number that they manage to avoid being run into the ground. Evil Dead is one such property, and the first look at Evil Dead: The Game has fans almost as excited as they would be if Sam Raimi announced he was directing another movie.
The teaser trailer shows some pre-alpha footage from the game that perfectly recreates the sinister setting and iconic imagery from the first two films, such as the isolated cabin, the Necronomicon, the chained cellar, the white-eyed mounted deer head, and, of course, the Oldsmobile. Fans were suitably excited about the reveal, and they made sure everyone knew about it, as you can see below.
And just like that, nothing else matters.

When it comes to Wes Anderson, moviegoers fall neatly into two piles: those who love him, and those who’ve never heard of him. What’s that? His twee sensibilities are just a little too indie-quirky-cute for you? Well, “Moonrise Kingdom” may surprise even the most jaded viewers. Sure, it’s packed with Anderson’s trademark strand of oddball whimsy, but for the haters out there, you will find a well-acted and tightly written 90 minute movie with enough heart to melt the iceberg that resides in your frigid chest cavity.
For those of you who aren’t already picking up your Rushmore blazer from the dry cleaner to wear to the very first screening, here are five reasons to see “Moonrise Kingdom.”

Cannes, France — Sitting across from "Moonrise Kingdom" filmmaker Wes Anderson, decked out in a corduroy suit on the beaches of the French Riviera during the Cannes Film Festival, I can't help but ask about his relationship with his muse (and my personal hero), Bill Murray.
Anderson feels around for the words to adequately characterize their connection, which has developed over the course of six films. "Bill is the kind of guy," he begins, "There aren't that many people you could turn to if there was a mob and say, 'Please, guide them this way or that way.' "
Just then, a voice off camera distracts Anderson. The voice remarks how great the "Moonrise Kingdom" premiere party was the previous night.

Boston — MTV News' Power of 12 hit the ground in Boston early on Super Tuesday to meet young Republican voters in a state best known for Democratic politicians like Kerry and the Kennedys. We didn't know what to expect, and what we found was ... not much.
Voter turnout was horrendous in Mitt Romney's home state among all voters — with only 6 percent turning out to cast ballots in Boston as of 6 p.m. — but seemingly most among young voters.
After visiting the campuses of UMass Boston and Boston University, a local elections officials told me that turnout at noon was 2.5 percent citywide, a puny number by anyone's standards. The young voters we did meet were Democrats, independents or Libertarians — no...

Boston — What happens when a reporter goes on the hunt for young voters in a state with 969,000 of them on Super Tuesday? He finds two — and a guy waiting for a bus — at the state's largest university.
At Boston University, over the course of the lunch hour, only two students came into the polling place at Myles Standish Hall to exercise their civic duty. Ben Nichols and Simon Wentzell cast ballots at a polling place on campus where a quick walk-through revealed everything was going smoothly — but the number of poll workers outnumbered voters by far.
So where is everybody?

Manchester, Tennessee — In theory, FX's excellent original series "The League" is about fantasy football. But really, it's about so much more: namely, the trials and tribulations of a group of friends, and their ongoing attempts to mess with each other's lives. And that's a sport that never goes out of season.
During this past weekend's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival , four-fifths of the show's stars — comedians Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lajoie and Stephen Rannazzisi — brought their mission to the masses, doing a pair of live sets in the fest's Comedy Theatre ... and those sets were heavy on the kind of good-natured provocation that has become the show's calling card.

Last week's "Skins" premiere focused on smooth-talking womanizer Tony. This week, episode two of the MTV drama will focus on Tea, played by Sofia Black-d'Elia. Tea is a gay teen, who is unapologetic about who she is but gets rattled when she realizes she might not have it all figured out. And fans will learn even more about the character on Monday night (January 24).
"Tea is so strong, I love that about her," Daniel Flaherty, who plays bumbling Stanley, told MTV News. "She's strong in the way that she doesn't care what anybody thinks about her and that confidence is really awesome in the show,...

The end of 2010 is almost upon us, which is why MTV News is rounding up the Top Songs of 2010. We has over two dozen MTV News staffers submit their own personal lists of their 25 favorite songs, and from those lists we derived a master list whose top 10 will be slowly rolling out over the course of this week. Check out one of the 25 lists below, with an argument or two for the greatness of some of the under-appreciated tunes of the year.
Don't let "Blah Blah Blah" fool you — 2010 was an awesome year for music. When I was asked to contribute a list of my 25 favorite songs to James Montgomery and Kyle Anderson (who were compiling a master list for the department using fancy math stuffs), my first draft was well over 100 songs. (Seriously!) From singles by "Idol" faves like Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Fantasia to deep cuts from...

We are dropped into Central Park, where some cops on horseback have found the body of Danny Goldstein, a math guru who worked for a hedge-fund company. He's been shot in the chest and is without apparel. Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) talk to Danny's sister, who confirm that Danny was a dork with no life, and I really hope my sibling doesn't relay that kind of info to people about me after I'm dead. Anyway, the first suspect, whose finger prints were on Danny's wallet, is a very scary man named D'Andre. He basically put Esposito (Jon Huertas) through a wall and into a neck brace, scared the crap out of Castle...but didn't do it. The gun D'Andre had didn't match the bullet. Why? Because the bullet is actually a lead ball, like the kind fired from flint-lock pistols. This, of course, means the killer is a time-traveler,...

Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, puts emotional candor — in both the video and the song — front and center. Given the very public abusive relationships Rihanna and Em have gone through, many fans believe the artists drew from personal experience for the collaboration.
Concertgoers waiting for the singer's Last Girl on Earth Tour stop in New York City on Thursday (August 12) told MTV News that the "Umbrella" singer's tumultuous past with ex-beau Chris Brown informed her performance in "Lie."

In Eminem's controversial new video "Love the Way You Lie," love and violence intertwine seamlessly. One moment, a couple sleeps in each other's arms, the next, they're violently fighting, tossing bed sheets. Later, they kiss passionately, pressed up against the same wall the man has just punctured with his fist. All the while, Rihanna croons the chorus which includes the line, "That's all right because I like the way it hurts." But is it really all right?

Last week, we brought you the news that Jay Sean, Cash Money Records' chart-topping pop-r&B singer, has chosen not to release more singles from his commercially successful debut album, All Or Nothing (the disc that brought you "Down" (featuring Weezy) and "Do You Remember" with Lil Jon and Sean Paul). The singer dished that he has completed roughly 75 percent of his next album and the guests thus far include Lil Wayne, Pitbull and Mary J. Blige.
Sean was kind enough to invite MTV News' Tim Kash, Adam Murphy, Kyle Williams, Nuzhat Naoreen, and yours truly into one of his writing sessions at the New York Studio of the Orange Factory (the production outfit behind most of All or Nothing) for a sneak peak at just how he cooks up his hits. As the release date for Drake's full-length debut album Thank Me Later inches ever closer, the singles point to Drake's growth as an artist since signing with Lil Wayne's Young Money label. "Over" paints the picture of a budding star skeptical of his new surroundings, and most recently, the Kanye West-produced "Find Your Love" veers almost entirely away from hip-hop into a place inhabited by the ghosts of R&B, old-school rap and Jamaican dancehall music.
The "Find Your Love" video takes us back to the days of long music videos with dramatic scenes with dialogue and acting interspersed throughout. Like a reboot of R. Kelly's epic "Down Low" video or an homage to Enrique Iglesias' epic clip for "Hero," "Find Your Love" tells the sad tale of Drake falling for a woman who "belongs" to a dangerous gangster and paying the consequences that...

Thirty years down the line, it's easy to forget that hip-hop began with DJs stringing the funkiest disco breaks head to tail. But more recently, as evidenced by the creative direction taken by artists like Timbaland and Kanye West, hip-hop seems to be reconnecting with its disco roots.
The prime example of the moment is Duck Sauce, the collaboration between hip-hop mainstay DJ A-Trak and electro-house DJ/producer Armand Van Helden on A-Trak's Fool's Gold label.
"I had met [A-Trak] through P-Thugg from Chromeo," Van Helden said. "He goes, 'Oh yeah, you gotta meet this guy A-Trak,' and I'm like, 'I've heard of him.' ... When we met, he was just up on the music.

At this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami, MTV News spoke to some of the biggest names in dance music and beyond. One name that we couldn't escape was West Coast electronic tycoon Steve Aoki.
To assign any one title to Steve Aoki is to do his talents a disservice. DJ, producer and record-label owner (Dim Mak) are but a few of the hats he somehow manages to wear all at once. And if you've heard him spin, Aoki doesn't miss a beat.
As mainstream artists are increasingly consulting underground icons of dance music for production advice, Aoki has a well-trodden path from the major labels to his doorstep, having remixed hit singles for Weezer, Kid Cudi, Robin Thicke, the Killers and beyond.

For the last five years, the Italian DJ/production duo Crookers have been around the world and back, setting the international dance-music scene ablaze with their epic DJ sets and trademark remixes. Their most renowned remix, of Kid Cudi's "Day 'N' Nite," entered the U.K. singles chart at #2, and even enjoyed some serious rotation on U.S. radio. But after remixing choice cuts by everyone from Britney Spears to Timbaland to Lady Gaga, where do they go from here?
According to Phra and Bot, you keep on keeping on. Since their enormous break with "Day 'N' Nite," "not so much has changed," they said. "We've just continued touring and producing ... and touring a lot ... and then producing." But the production isn't limited to remixes anymore.

You probably couldn't pick Calvin Harris out of a lineup of skinny, white Scottish guys. But as other DJ/producers like Tiësto and David Guetta break into the mainstream Stateside, Harris stands on the brink of becoming a household name.
Just like his predecessors, Harris has been setting the remix game on fire for several years now, creating club-friendly versions of songs by the Ting Tings, Cut Copy, Passion Pit, Katy Perry and Shakira, to name a few. And while his first full-length studio LP as a solo artist, I Created Disco, dominated the charts in the U.K. with the songs "Girls," "Vegas" and "Acceptable in the 80s," his presence in America is still mostly limited to the clubs.

Beware of spoilers big and small below!
The season six premiere of "Lost" gave us the show at its mind grape-exploding finest: alternately head-scratching, frustrating, tense, cool as heck, cheesy, scream-at-the-tv-cause-you-gotta-be-kidding-me crazytown. Quibble all you want with certain things — Jack pounding on dead Sayid's chest in that hoariest of TV doc clichés, Sawyer saying goodbye to a dying Juliet, like, six times — but those two hours delivered. When it comes to the elements of Island mystery, we got meaty clues about the Smoke Monster, the old school Others and the implications of the white flash-inducing nuclear explosion. Then there were moments of nail-biting thrills, from Kate's airport escape to Sayid's force-fed swim session.
All in all, I argue the "Lost" brain trust has set up what promises to be a killer season, full of conflict, mysteries answered and left unsolved, tight storytelling and a chance to commune with the characters...

This isn't new ground for Slim Shady, who has come under fire from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which cited his use of anti-gay slurs on earlier...

50 Cent talks a big game in his songs, relaying his tales from the street to his eager fans. And when you think "50 Cent music video," you'd probably expect a similarly tough take.
So what's with the family-man look in his brand-new clip for "Baby by Me," featuring Ne-Yo? We took the music video down to the folks waiting in Times Square to be in the "It's On With Alexa Chung" audience to see what they thought of the new V-neck-sweater-wearing 50 Cent.
"I like to see the softer side of 50 Cent — wearing the sweater, with the kids," Ryan said.
It seems like the people are ready to trade "50 Cent the badass" for "Curtis the family man."
For a handful of respondents,...

On the surface, the video for British electro-pop group La Roux's "I'm Not Your Toy" looks effortless and sleek. It features one particular, transfixing shot: Singer Elly Jackson emerges from beneath a pool of water while creating only the slightest of ripples.
But behind the scenes, things were a bit more complicated. The Woodie Award-nominated Jackson recently sat down with MTV's Adam Murphy to dish about what really took place during the shoot.
The video's director asked her to hold her breath for as long as she could before slowly and steadily coming to the surface. But once she was under, all she heard were shouts, first from the director and then from everyone else at the shoot to "go down." Jackson, who was trying her best to tread water, had no idea what they meant, since she was already fully submerged — or so she thought.

If you've been keeping up with the female-driven wave of emerging Brit-pop acts over the past two years, you've probably heard the synthy, upbeat stylings of La Roux. From the retro-futuristic surrealist beachscapes of "Bulletproof" to the ultra-chic irony of "I'm Not Your Toy," the band's music videos thus far have cultivated an enigmatic image for Elly Jackson. The frontwoman recently sat down with MTV News to discuss their "In for the Kill" clip.
Principally consisting of Jackson behind the wheel of a Delorean-looking, quite possibly flux-capacitor-equipped vehicle, the video shows a highly determined woman on a mission. "The actual song is about me going to Paris and telling someone something," Jackson said. "I literally just jumped on the Eurostar [train] and I went,...

'It's a good video to come back with,' one of our Times Square respondents says.

Chris Brown in his "I Can Transform Ya" video

New York — After several months of relative quiet following his February assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna, Chris Brown has re-emerged with a slick new video for his single "I Can Transform Ya," featuring Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz. We headed to Times Square to ask fans: Is the video enough to spark a full-fledged comeback?
What was clear from talking to our mostly European respondents is that no one has forgotten what Brown is coming back from, but they were willing to set the controversy aside and review the clip.
"I thought Chris Brown's video was pretty good," Anna said. "Quite good dancing in it — a bit dull, though, a bit black, could have had a bit more color in it.

Lock your doors. Board up your windows. Flee for the countryside. The Volturi Are Nearly Upon Us! With the film adaptation of "New Moon" nigh at hand, these elite Italian vampires are literally salivating with anticipation, awaiting fresh necks to feed on.
And you'd better not scuff their Gucci loafers.
In honor of their impending arrival, we went out to New York’s Times Square today to put our finger to the pulse of the people. The Volturi: Awesomely dangerous? Dangerously awesome? Or just plain evil? Here's what Times Square had to say:
Recently we've been developing an even less scientific way of calculating poll statistics, of which today's Oh Snap! Poll is a shining example. Sixty percent of respondents say "Nuh-uh!" to the Volturi, citing lack of virtue, untrustworthiness and overall sucky-ness (sorry). One girl said, "In 'New Moon,' the Volturi are gonna be mad stupid.

Today over on MTV.com, Larry Carroll has a report filed from the red carpet of the "Inglourious Basterds" premiere. He got to chat with the various cast members as they strolled by, and the one question he made sure to hit them all with was "which Quentin Tarantino character is your favorite?" The answers are all over the place, from Eli Roth's half-dozen or so choices to -- including Brad Pitt's "True Romance" stoner Floyd! -- to Brad Pitt's humble nod to his "Basterds" co-star Christopher Waltz, who plays "the Jew Hunter."
It's hard to narrow down a single favorite, but I have to go with Robert Forster's bail bondsman Max Cherry, from "Jackie Brown." By far Qt's most underrated effort, Forster's top-notch role is just one among many in the movie. Still, it's his character who sticks with me the most. As all of...

Well, folks, it looks like we're gonna have another Kardashian to keep up with.
The thrilling news of Kourtney Kardashian's pregnancy inspired us with its unprecedented Oh-Snapability, prompting us to take a truly vital poll out in Times Square this morning. The question: "Which Kardashian would make the best mother?" Here's this week's Oh Snap! poll:
Our unbelievably unscientific poll results show that 48 percent of respondents believe that Kourtney would make the best mother of the three sisters. But not so fast, Kourtney: Kim came in right on your heels at 44 percent. And for whatever reason, Khloé got the shaft, receiving an endorsement as skimpy as, well ... her outfits. Something about her seems to scream "Unfit Mother" to our people in Times Square.
This is definitely not the opinion of MTV News or Viacom.
In the interest of full scientific disclosure, we did happen to interview...

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the MTV News interns and Adam Murphy, Production Assistant to the stars, the box has been opened!
For the record, it involved tapping against the side of a table a little bit, which seems counter to the whole "don't use brute force" credo these things generally have. But whatever! Here's a video of Adam showing off how it's done:
(Not viewable by users logging in from Canada or the U.K.)
And yes, GameDaily beat us to it. We are shamed for all eternity. Too bad they smell.

In the wake of John Hughes' sad and premature death, we can't help but examine the iconic oeuvre of the prolific filmmaker. Hughes' films shine in their persistent popularity among today's youth, many of whom cite "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Pretty In Pink" among their favorite films of all time. Though his most famous works pre-date this viewing population, the sincerity and innocence of these films transcend generations with their universal appeal.
Eschewing the trademark sassiness of the Oh Snap! Poll in favor of a more appropriate tone, today's poll is a tribute to Hughes' legacy.
Our stunningly unscientific poll results show that the "Home Alone" movies have a special place in our hearts, achieving a plurality of 42%. "The Breakfast Club" came in at a close second place with 33% of the vote, followed by "Ferris Beuller's Day Off" at 17% and "Pretty In Pink" at 8% (underrepresented in my opinion.
