Country singer Mindy McCready died Sunday at age 37 from an apparent suicide, just weeks after her boyfriend was found dead on Jan. 13. Though details surrounding his death have been kept tight by investigators, songwriter David Wilson reportedly died from a gunshot wound to the head. "Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children's father, David Wilson," McCready said in a statement at the time. "David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne."
Now TMZ reports that the singer -- whose troubled relationship with drugs made her an immediate media speculation -- was never a suspect in Wilson's death. Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told the website that "Mindy never changed her story" and that any reports claiming that the country star was involved in some way were false.

Heber Springs, Ark. — Authorities say they found country singer Mindy McCready's body on the same porch of her northern Arkansas home where her boyfriend was found dead of an apparent suicide last month.
Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss said Monday that it appears McCready killed her late boyfriend David Wilson's dog before she turned the gun on herself Sunday. The dog and McCready were found dead next to one another the home in Heber Springs, a vacation community about 65 miles north of Little Rock. Moss says the dog's body was next to McCready's.
Authorities are investigating Wilson's shooting death as a suicide, but Moss says an official determination hasn't been made.
Moss says he expects McCready's official cause of death to be released soon, but that "all indicators" point to suicide.

Heber Springs, Ark. — Mindy McCready threatened suicide after losing custody of her sons earlier this month, yet she was allowed to leave a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program just days before she apparently killed herself at her Arkansas home, her ex-boyfriend said Monday.
Billy McKnight, who was in a long, stormy relationship with McCready and is the father of her oldest child, Zander, said the 37-year-old mother of two stayed in the substance abuse treatment center for about 18 hours before she was allowed to walk free.

David Wilson's death is still under investigation. Mindy McCready's boyfriend died Jan. 13 of a gunshot wound that was reported to police as having been self-inflicted at his home in Heber Springs, Ark., but local and state authorities are still trying to piece together what happened before they put the case to bed. Mindy McCready and her 5-year-old son Zander were taken into custody Friday evening, after McCready took him from his Coral Gables, Fla. home earlier in the week, where Zander resides with McCready's mother Gayle Inge, who has custody of the boy.
McCready and her son were found in Cleburne County, Arkansas. Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss tells the AP that McCready didn't have permission to be in the empty home in which she and Zander were found Friday night.
The sheriff's department had received reports of "possible occupants in a summer home that was supposed to be unoccupied," they said in a statement. Authorities entered the home and found McCready and Zander in a bedroom closet. A man, David Wilson, was also in the house at the time.
Neither of them were arrested at that point. The house they occupied was next door to one where Wilson had stayed in the past.
