"Tron" and "Caddyshack" star Cindy Morgan has died, TMZ is reporting. The actress who appeared in several hit films and TV shows, most notably in the 1980s, was 69 years old. The outlet confirmed the news with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, but the details surrounding Morgan's passing are not currently available.
Morgan began her career as a weather reporter, but her first on-screen acting role came in 1979, when she played Elaine in the erotic comedy "Up Yours." Known for her striking blonde hair and blue-eyes, Morgan was cast in bombshell roles, including as the goofily named character Lacy Underall in the 1980 Bill Murray-led comedy "Caddyshack." The actress soon found herself in the zeitgeist, appearing in the cyberspace action-adventure film "Tron" as Dr. Lora Baines, a scientific assistant who was dating Encom programmer Alan (Bruce Boxleitner). "Caddyshack" started out as a straightforward coming-of-age comedy about a young guy working as a caddie on the links of a posh golf club; by the time it reached the screen, it had become a summit meeting between three comic heavyweights of the time. There was Chevy Chase, the former star of "Saturday Night Live;" Bill Murray, the then-current star of the show; and Rodney Dangerfield, the stand-up legend whose club in New York helped launch the career of many comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Carrey. There was also a gopher that looked remarkably like a hand puppet, but the coming-of-age stuff was largely relegated to filler by the antics of its three stars.
After the huge success of "National Lampoon's Animal House," Harold Ramis and Douglas Kennedy decided to take the riotous underdog formula to the links. They'd both had experience at golf clubs as teenagers and, together...

On July 9, 1982, Disney unveiled the sci-fi actioner Tron in theaters, where it would gross $33 million and, decades later, get a sequel in Tron: Legacy. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
It would be all too easy to describe the Disney Studios’ Tron as yet another special effects movie in a year that has seen special effects achieve unprecedented heights of sophistication and technical virtuosity. It is that, of course, and it probably relies more heavily on computer-generated animations than any other movie yet produced. Both the eye and the mind are continually boggled by a bombardment of images that quite literally defy description. Who could hope to describe the electronically produced transformations that take place at faster-than-lightning speeds in the complex circuitry of a computer? They must be seen to be believed and even then you’re not quite sure.
But young Steven Lisberger, who both wrote and directed Tron,...

With readers turning to their home viewing options more than ever, this daily feature provides one new movie each day worth checking out on a major streaming platform.
When Steven Lisberger first conceived of what would become his 1982 film “Tron,” the fledgling filmmaker had a startling vision of the future: an animated feature that could explore the world of early video games like “Pong” in the kind of detail not yet available for live-action moviemaking. With producing partner Donald Kushner — with whom he’d made the 90-minute Olympics-themed animated feature “Animalympics” — Lisberger set up an animation shop to bring “Tron” to fruition. However, they eventually decided to explore the story through a blend of live-action footage and computer animated sequences.

Be honest, Lacey Underall seems like a name you’d hear on a Bond or Austin Powers movie, right? Well it was used for a comedy after all since Cindy Morgan was part of the original Caddyshack cast and played a rather fun-loving, carefree, but very spoiled young woman that knew what she wanted and usually went and got it. A lot of us remember Cindy from the iconic golfing movie largely because she didn’t play by the rules and was the type that you tended to drool over if you were guy since she was absolutely gorgeous and seemed ready

Let’s get it out of the way: 1982’s Tron is a perfect example of a film wherein style completely trumped substance to its lasting detriment. That’s not to take away from its importance as a groundbreaking piece of work, one undeniably laced with rich iconography, but instead to point out that on a narrative level, Tron left a lot to be desired, too caught up – and understandably so – in exploring its own world to focus on giving us a solid story with which to truly support itself. As a result, with several decades now under its belt and its once incredible effects and animation now painfully dated, it’s even easier to see that there’s no real meat on the film’s bones that has allowed it to truly stand the test of time for most people outside of its own loyal fanbase.

To quote Homer Simpson, “did anybody see the movie Tron?” Okay, okay, I’m sure quite a lot of people have actually seen Tron, and probably liked it. Wait, no, I don’t mean the Tron with the Daft Punk soundtrack and Olivia Wilde lying on a sofa. I’m talking about the original Tron. The Tron from 1982, with the light cycles and the funny graphics, and Jeff Bridges playing, well, Jeff Bridges.
From a modern perspective, Tron just about holds up to our often critical gaze. Of course the computer animation appears very basic, the science fiction tale is riddled with clichés, and the overall feel of the film at times verges on comedic. But, despite all its flaws and narrative simplicity, Tron is fundamentally a strong film.
Even at face value, it is a film worthy of praise for its innovative daring and way-ahead-of-its-time-ness; courtesy of the brains of creator Steven Lisberger,...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Sometimes imitation can lead to sincere embarrassment. I’ll let you decide if sitting through this song & dance number clearly inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video from the 1985 TV horror musical The Midnight Hour will make you want to get dead.
It must be said that The Midnight Hour boasted quite an eclectic cast of B and C list actors, some whose careers had long since peaked and others who would go on to become better known than they were at the time they appeared in this.
LeVar Burton
Peter Deluise
Dedee Pfeiffer
Dick Van Patten
Kevin McCarthy
Kurtwood Smith
Cindy Morgan
Mark Blankfield
Wolfman Jack
Macauley Culkin
The bell of this monster’s ball was Shari Belafonte. “Get Dead” was her big musical number, and it delivered everything you could expect from a cheesy TV movie stab at recreating the aesthetics...

I’m not entirely sure the use of the word “Classic” on the cover is entirely justified here, since Tron‘s popularity must surely be classed more as a cult thing than something of the mainstream. Judged by “traditional” factors for critique, it doesn’t exactly shine; the tone extremely camp and a little too self-consciously wierd, the script is full of problems and the pace is all over the place, but it still conjours up a tangible nostalgia that is as much indicative of the magic of cinema as real quality is.
In conjunction with the Blu-ray release of Tron Legacy, the original “classic” is now also available to buy on blu-ray.
Although everyone should by now know the plot, there may be those of you out there who haven’t yet seen the original Tron, having only just discovered the sequel, so here goes anyway. Ex-encom employee Kevin Flynn...

Hereafter (Warner Bros.) Clint Eastwood’s spiritual thriller follows a trio of characters whose seemingly disparate paths converge: Matt Damon as a blue collar Joe who tries to fight against his psychic powers that see “the other side,” Cecile de France as a journalist who somehow survives the tsunami that crushed Indonesia, and a London schoolboy (Frankie and George McLaren) who seeks answers after losing his twin brother. Like all of Eastwood’s films, the narrative construction is tight as a drum, with solid work by all involved. That said, “solid” would have to be the operative word to describe the proceedings here, as well as “unremarkable” and “uninvolving” on an emotional level. Perhaps we expect too much when we see Clint’s name on a film these days, but that’s the flip side of being one of the best. Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

Last fall’s “Tron Legacy” was one of the most anticipated movies of all time. From the teaser film released at Comic-Con International in San Diego years before to the elaborate events staged across the country, “Tron Legacy” was one of the most unique films in recent memory — and that’s before you factor in the special effects. But for “Tron” fans, this was something they’ve been waiting for since 1982. And they weren’t alone.
For actor Bruce Boxleitner, the resurgence of the “Tron” franchise 15+ years after the original was a chance to continue the story and give back to the fans who have approached him throughout the years expressing their love for the original film and the desire for more.

Tron Review
The indelible world of the software engineer and the incoherency of their digital workplace to the laymen is interlaced within a tale of one engineer’ desire to retrieve intellectual property that he can’t prove he ever owned.
Sliding between video game, a computer mainframe, and the real world, Tron seeks to balance its three universes in one narrative. The film both succeeds and fails at this. The editing of a few of the transitions are not as smooth as they could be and the terminology used will disengaged some viewers as they will not know what is being referred to.

Someone had to go first.
As computers were getting faster and significantly more sophisticated, some producer was going to be the first to have computers handle the special effects in a movie. As it turns out, Walt Disney, which pioneered feature-length animation, took the plunge in 1982 with Tron. The film, starring Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, and David Warner, was visually stunning in its day as you felt immersed in the emerging video game world. The mediocre story took a backseat to the imaginative light cycle races and glowing disc battles. Audiences were intrigued, just enough to rake in $33 million at the box office for a $17 million production so it almost made money using the math of the time.
Flashfoward 28 years and as computers have taken control over special effects in all media, the time struck many as right to go back and revisit the world of Tron. Disney moved cautiously,...

Jonelle Allen played Lucinda in the fondly remembered ABC television horror comedy "The Midnight Hour". The Midnight Hour had a huge cast of up and coming or well known actors inlcuding Shari Belafonte (daughter of the legendary Harry Belafonte), Lee Montgomery (Burnt Offerings), LeVar Burton (Ali), Peter DeLuise (Children of the Night), Dedee Pfeiffer (Vamp), Jonna Lee (Making the Grade), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Cindy Morgan (Tron) and Dick Van Patten (Westworld). Amidst that huge cast lineup, Jonelle Allen stood out. Even if she was simply standing still, she filled the screen with her presence. Her performance in The Midnight Hour was equal parts mysterious, seductive and just downright fun! We took a moment with Jonelle Allen to look back on The Midnight Hour. Here's what she had to say.

A trailer for Tron 3 won’t be appearing on the home release of Tron: Legacy (here), but Disney could be looking to ahead, and making plans for a third film. According to Comic Book Movies, the studio has “reached out” to Cindy Morgan reprise her role as Yori from the original Tron. Yori was the alter ego of Lora Baines in the Grid. The character seems to have gotten a cult following as many were disappointed she didn’t appear in Tron: Legacy. Although, the beautiful Olivia Wilde may have been enough to satisfy the new generation.
However, this should be taken with a grain of salt as the status of the film seems to be undetermined as of right now, but a third film could happen if Tron: Legacy sales well on Blu-ray/DVD. Cbm does claim they have “good authority” about this news, but it’s far from official,...

Anyone who is fan of the original Tron movie must remember Yori. Played by Cindy Morgan, she was computer programmer Lora Baines alter ego in the Grid. In the "real" world Baines was Alan Bradley's(Bruce Boxleitner) girlfriend, and in the Grid a companion of His alter ego Tron. Being quite a popular character amongst the film's cult fanbase there was apparently major disappointment that Morgan didn't reprise her role in the recent Tron: Legacy, with internet campaigns being set up left, right and center. Well, fans may get their wish for the upcoming threequel. I have it on good authority that Disney have "reached out" to Morgan to return as Yori/Lora for their upcoming follow up to Tron: Legacy. All we know is there's been some contact with Disney, and there's suggestions that she may be asked to return. So nothing official here for now, but don't...

Tron is either the first brilliant cinematic exploration of the digital world … or the silliest. Released by Disney in 1982 — over a year before the Apple Macintosh brought the graphical user interface home to consumers — Tron fascinated some, but confused most. You could argue that, alongside works like Neuromancer and Snow Crash, it ingeniously predicted a whole interconnected world behind the computer screen. You could also argue that — by portraying that world as a pseudo-Oz where people wear neon skintight bodysuits and say like “Who do you calculate you are?” — Tron got everything completely wrong. But you can’t argue with...

This holiday season, disappointment comes in fluorescent blue.
Tron Legacy picks up a generation after Tron's half-remembered story leaves off. Jeff Bridges’ hippie-ish programmer Kevin Flynn took control of the evil corporation Encom, but after years of innovation has “disappeared.” Encom is once again in the hands of money-grubbing profiteers, but Flynn’s hunkinsh young son (and largest shareholder) Sam is ready to hack and parachute as a one-man 4chan to shake things up. He is led back to his father’s old arcade/laboratory where, just like Dad, he goes through the rabbit hole into “The System.”
In a key departure from the first film, this computer-verse (known as The Grid) is not a digital representation of a specific place. In Tron, there was always an implied association that the technical work of Encom’s employees (the Users) were manipulating the representatives inside. This extended to arcade game...

Ever since the 2008 Comic-Con, the Fanboy Universe has been waiting with bated breath for the follow-up to Steve Lisberger’s Tron, a groundbreaking science-fiction adventure released by Disney 28 years ago. Considered the first shot fired in the digital cinema revolution, Tron has carved out a singular space in the genre. Now that the revolution Tron began has changed cinema, the time seems perfect to revisit the world of the film with an eye towards birthing a new franchise.
And that’s what Disney has done. The new film, entitled Tron: Legacy will doubtlessly reap a fortune from both the aging nerds who saw the first one and the new generation brought up on gaming. It is also poised to launch more films and become another blockbuster franchise.

This post contains Spoilers for Tron: Legacy.
Nearly three decades after the original film, Tron: Legacy will finally be hitting theaters this Friday. Nobody really knows how the film will perform at the box-office, and the film has already been receiving mixed reviews from critics. Despite that uncertainty, screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have already mentioned that plans for Tron 3 are underway (here), and What’s Playing seems to have gotten hold of some plot details on the next installment.
They first mention that screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have not yet finished the script, and are just creating ideas for another sequel. One character that won’t be featured in Tron: Legacy will be Yori and Laura (Cindy Morgan) because Kitis and Horowitz see this film as Flynn’s story, and don’t want to just give them a small cameo as background characters. Instead, Morgan’s...

In a world in which sequels come fast and furious, it’s rare to see a phenomenon like “Tron: Legacy” — a surefire blockbuster that follows not-so-hot on the heels of a 28-year-old predecessor.
Of the audience that’ll be flocking to the IMAX and 3-D theaters to see Disney’s cyber-adventure, only a handful will be people who saw “Tron” when it was released, and odds are a good number will never have ventured to the film’s virtual world at all.
For those of you making your first foray to the Grid, we’re here to help with a primer on the key concepts and elements of “Tron” you need to know before getting digitized. Read on, programs…
(Warning: Spoilers ahead… from the original “Tron,” that is.)

It’s no mistake that Olivia Wilde’s Quorra is featured prominently in promotion for “Tron: Legacy.” Amidst a sea of dazzling CGI images, her organic sexiness is a highlight.
But Wilde’s appearance as a beautiful program is more than just a nod to Cindy Morgan’s attractive turn as Yori in the original film, it’s also the latest instance of sexy femininity in sci-fi, a legacy that stretches back decades and encompasses everything from bikini-clad bounty hunters to pleasure robots.
Join us as we count down the 20 sexiest.
20. Natalie Portman, ‘Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ (2005)
When we first meet the mother of Luke and Leia Skywalker, she’s nothing more than a child, thrust into a difficult rule on her home planet of Naboo. But as the prequel trilogy progressed, Padme became so much more than just the vessel for a future generation of heroes,...

There's been a Star Trek version of it. And a Batman one too. And now, this month, there's going to be one that parodies/homages Disney's new Tron: Legacy movie.
It's an adult movie, also known as a XXX title. And it's called Pron.
The blue movie is co-directed by Sam Hain and Lee Roy Myers, and judging from the Nsfw photos that I've seen from it, Pron does rip off the characters from Tron Legacy to suit its perverted purpose. The movie stars adult film actress Zoe Voss who mimics Olivia Wilde's character of Quorra from the Tron sequel, right down to the black-haired bob 'do she sports. Lexi Belle is playing a character that is supposed to echo the one that Cindy Morgan played in the original Tron, Yori. And there's another unnamed lady who wears a white wig and Tron-like spandex costume that's supposed to...

This is the month of Tron Legacy's release and although the film has been screened for some critics, with reviews are slowly trickling in, I still have yet to see the finished picture. Though I've written a series of articles throughout the year, building up to that December 17 release date, I can't really judge the film without seeing it. Like any fan highly anticipating a new film, I'm anxious, yet I also have doubts. Being that I've waited nearly three decades for this sequel, the anticipation is even greater. There's always that fear that the filmmakers don't know how to expand upon an old story, a story that many have carried with them since their childhood.“They raped my childhood” is often the crass and harsh reaction of fans who have waited years to see follow-ups to such popular series as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films. I have...

As we’ve seen recently Porn Parody’s are all the rage these days, last month we brought you the trailer to the Wonder Woman XXX (here), and now comes the news that Tron is getting the treatment. The parody to be titled Pron, will take elements from both the original Tron film and the up coming sequel Tron: Legacy and mix them into the film. Word on the street is that this film will actually be better than the original film! The film features Lexi Belle, Andy San Dimas, Diamond Foxxx, April O’Neil and Zoe Voss.
Pron has directors Sam Hain and Lee Roy Meyers on board, Meyer’s had a few words to say about the film. “Jeff Bridges’ ex in the first one was Cindy Morgan. She was so hot, yet despite being a Playboy model, didn’t take her clothes off. But we’ve got Lexi Belle.
