In Blessings of Christmas, Loughlin stars as renowned TV star Mandy Gilmore, who is saying goodbye to her hit culinary series, A World of Food, so she can travel the globe and dine in all 142 Michelin star restaurants. Before jetting to Paris, Mandy stops in Milwaukee with the deed to her deceased aunt’s food pantry, Angel’s Fare, recently purchased by adjacent business owner, Adam Carraway (James Tupper). It’s a simple transaction until pantry volunteer Otto Nessen (Jesse Hutch) reminds everyone that Aunt Susie’s love of cooking was actually love of feeding — which...

Sure, you know the names Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton... but is the name Cantinflas familiar? Perhaps not, but he was only the most famous comic to come from Mexico -- so famous, in fact, he was dubbed "the Charlie Chaplin of Mexico" by many. Born Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes in 1911 to an impoverished family in Mexico City, he started out as a prizefighter and circus performer (adopting the stage moniker "Cantinflas") before developing a career in theater and film playing, like Chaplin, el pelado -- a poor everyman. His breakthrough came with Ahí está el detalle in 1940, and he would go on to win a Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy in 1956 for Around the World in Eighty Days. After a long and successful career, the comic...

As we’ve been reporting, Syfy had its Upfront presentation to potential advertisers Wednesday night, and they spent yesterday issuing press releases. It’s a good thing they held the event at a pier, as there is a boatload of information included in the summary press release below. We made sure to get it posted before the weekend, since it will take you the entire weekend to absorb it all.
Some of it is information we’ve already posted, like the Ringworld and Childhood’s End development and the High Moon pilot production, some of it we posted about fairly recently, like Ronald D. Moore‘s Helix, some of it we haven’t heard about in quite some time, like Orion, Proof, and Dominion, and some, like the nonscripted shows, the anthology, and some of the projects announced, are news to us.
You’ll also see ratings info and other...

As if there weren't enough reasons to not get into a plane (thereby letting someone you don't know control your fate at 35,000 feet while you're offered peanuts for your trouble), the Syfy channel is poised to give us yet another show to keep us from flying the frightening skies.
Deadline is reporting that the network has bought a drama spec written by Alfonso H. Moreno ("NCIS").
The untitled project, from Fox TV Studios and Ross Fineman’s FtvS-based Fineman Entertainment, starts off with a meteorite striking a plane. The only two survivors find themselves sleepwalking and waking up with no memory of their actions. On the run from the government, they must figure out what happened to them and prove their innocence. Moreno and Fineman executive produce. Of course some alien-based subplot complete with horrid CGI will be thrown into the mix.
