Lou Written by Haley Rice Directed by Kate Moore Heaney Presented by Theatre 4the People at The Paradise Factory, NYC May 19-June 3, 2017
Quickly: how many of you have heard of Sigmund Freud? Now, how many of you have heard of Lou Salomé? It might surprise many audience members to see Salomé using Freud’s own psychoanalytic techniques on him late in Haley Rice’s new play Lou, but that is part of the point. Directed with an all-female cast by Kate Moore Heaney, Lou operates, to a large degree, in the genre of feminist reclamation, bringing attention to significant women unfairly elided by history. Much like The Other Mozart, which stopped in New York last fall to shine its spotlight on Wolfgang’s talented sister, Maria Anna, Rice’s play focuses on an exceptional woman lost over time in the shadows of the famous men with whom she lived and worked.

Clint Eastwood revisited Harry Callahan three more times, usually whenever his career was in the dumps. If Dirty Harry was a cultural phenomenon and Magnum Force a respectable follow-up, the rest are uninspired cash-ins. The main law Harry enforces in these sequels is the Law of Diminishing Returns.
Given Dirty Harry‘s San Francisco setting, something like The Enforcer (1976) was inevitable. After all, San Fran hosted Haight-Ashbury, hippie capital of the world; was a favored site for Black Panther and Sds protests; headquarters of the nascent gay rights movement; victim of Weathermen bombings and the racially-charged Zebra murders. Writers Gail Morgan Hickman and S.W. Schurr based their script, originally titled “Moving Target,” on the Symbionese Liberation Army which kidnapped Patty Hearst. Dean Riesner (who cowrote the original Harry) and Stirling Silliphant (In the Heat of the Night) polished the film.

For musical theater performers Kate Moore and Tim Wessel, Backstage University offers an opportunity to meet the industry, practice their craft, and more; in fact, both signed with Zane Gerson of Daniel Hoff Agency after meeting him at a Bu seminar! We chatted with Moore and Wessel about some challenges they’ve faced finding representation in NYC, the benefits of having an agent they jive with, and how they get the most out of Backstage University. On looking for representation. Moore and Wessel agree that looking for an agent is a daunting task. The “sheer numbers,” says Moore, pose a huge challenge for performers. “It’s hard to really showcase yourself to an agency if you’re having trouble standing out from the crowd. Most of the agencies in this city probably get piles and piles of submissions. That’s why I really think agent seminars and classes are the way to go.

A “found footage” horror movie about werewolves? From the guys behind The Devil Inside? Bear with me, I promise there’s a light at the end of this topsy-turvy tunnel.
Where The Exorcism Of Emily Rose attempts to weigh demonic possession against mental illness, Wer calls upon the same judicial storytelling by putting a suspected werewolf on trial in hopes of proving innocence through physical ailments. Playing out like a faux-documentary, most of the film is spent watching a sassy lawyer defender her furry client, condemning a case riddled with inconsequential evidence that only the worst investigation could slum together, but a shockingly invigorated third act changes at the rising of a full moon. Writer/Director William Brent Bell and co-writer Matthew Peterman’s previous film, The Devil Inside, crumbles under the weight of vapid storytelling and an absolutely insulting ending, but these rejuvenated artists refuse to wander the same joyless road a second time.

"Supernatural" and "Vampire Diaries" actor Sebastian Roché has joined the cast of 'Devil Inside' helmer William Brent Bell's "Wer" which is currently shooting in Romania reports The Playlist.
The pseudo-doco follows a defense attorney (Kate Moore) looking to clear a client (Brian J. O'Connor) suspected in a grisly multiple slaying of a vacationing American family.
There's more to the client however than it would appear on the surface. Roché plays an French ex-military type turned detective.

The Playlist has learned exclusively that "The Adventures of Tintin" star has joined the cast of "Wer," the next effort from "The Devil Inside" director William Brent Bell. The story follows defense attorney Kate Moore ("Criminal Minds" star A.J. Cook) who is looking to clear her client, Talan Gwynek (Brian J. As for Roché, he will be playing Detective Pistor, a French ex-military type investigating the case.
"It's going to be more of a faux documentary approach, with some found footage. It's going to be very different than 'Devil Inside,' but still portray itself as a documentary and...

Though he didn’t win over most critics, The Devil Inside director William Brent Bell certainly made enough profit on his latest stab at horror to convince companies to keep funding his work. His defence lawyer, Kate Moore (Cook), is trying to make the case that he’s innocent, but then strange things start to happen that make everyone involved reconsider their ideas about the seemingly harmless Gwynek. Especially when the full moon rises…...
