Alexander J. Moon
- Producer
- Production Manager
- Additional Crew
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Alexander Moon knew early on in life
that he wanted to pursue a career in the film industry. After
graduating from The Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA, he went on to
attend the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. At first,
coming from a small East Coast private school to a large university
like USC was a culture shock for Mr. Moon, but he quickly adapted to
the SoCal lifestyle and excelled both in academics and on the rugby
field.
It was during his time at USC that Mr. Moon realized his passion was for producing rather than directing like most of his classmates. After earning a B.A. in Visual Anthropology and Cinema-TV Production, he immediately continued his studies at The American Film Institute where he received a M.F.A. in Producing after 2 years of attending the school. It was at AFI that Mr. Moon came into his own as a producer, having produced 3 short films in his first year and a 30 minute Thesis film in his second year.
After graduating from AFI, Mr Moon dove head first into music video production, starting out as a Production Coordinator and quickly moving up to Line Producer. It was in the trenches of music video production that Mr. Moon earned his chops as a line producer, eventually working with every major record label in the industry. From The Killers to Lil' Wayne, Mr. Moon has worked with some of the biggest Artists in music.
His experience in music videos allowed Mr. Moon to segue into producing television commercials and over the years he has line produced over 100 music videos and commercials. This has also allowed him to shoot all across the U.S., from Alaska to Hawaii to Puerto Rico and given him the insight into shooting in distant locations.
Setting his sights on "long format" production, Mr. Moon actively pursued line producing opportunities in feature films and television, eventually completing the necessary 400 days of on-set experience to join the Directors Guild of America (DGA) as a Unit Production Manager (UPM) in 2011.
Mr. Moon continues to strive for excellence in all his endeavors and enjoys the unique challenges presented to him while working in production, whether it be on the set of a big-budget commercial or an independent feature film.
