Poor, poor Lucio Fulci. He spent the first half of the ’90s ill from his fight with diabetes; his last film Door into Silence, came out in ’91. Longtime rival Dario Argento offered an olive branch for the two to work on a project together; they wrote a story (and Fulci crafted a screenplay), but sadly Fulci passed away in March of ’96 before production started. But horror is persistent, and after Argento had FX maestro Sergio Stivaletti step behind the camera, the world was given Wax Mask (1997), a gnarly yet elegant period piece that manages to pay tribute to not only the fractured madness of Fulci, but Hammer as well. Now it can be yours with a glorious 4K transfer and a treasure trove of goodies from the upstanding citizens of Severin Films.

How does Malick's latest effort fit into the filmmaker's oeuvre? Featuring Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, and Sean Penn, Malick's existential drama The Tree of Life, released two years ago, is the obvious seed stock for To the Wonder. (Pictured above: Olga Kurylenko, Ben Affleck's romantic interest) Those two efforts are twins both thematically and stylistically -- though, admittedly, they are also closely related to his entire oeuvre. From his 1970s' efforts Badlands and Days of Heaven, Malick’s interests have always been expounded upon. Among those is what one could call a “wonder” at all things that have not been created by Man, and therefore likely created by God, besides philosophical ponderings about things that were created by Man, such as disharmony with nature and both external and inner conflicts. The New World, for example, has little if any historical relevance; on the other hand, this 2005 effort features much...

Ben Affleck and Olga Kurylenko's loved-up couple Neil and Marina ascend the steps of Mont Saint-Michel and head "to the Wonder" in the opening moments of Terrence Malick's latest film, an examination of love and faith that's even more abstract and impressionistic than his last offering The Tree of Life. It sets the tone perfectly as we see them dance, joke and frolic across France before heading off to start a new life in Neil's home state of Oklahoma with Marina's 10-year-old daughter in tow.
The course of true love does not run smoothly, however. Both Marina and her daughter struggle to adapt to life in the Us (the latter returns to Paris swiftly to live with her father), while Neil is drawn to...

In the absence of Terrence Malick (naturally…), Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem and Rachel McAdams, it was left to Olga Kurylenko to fly the flag for "To The Wonder" at the film's Venice press conference, alongside producers Sarah Green and Nicolas Gonda and Italian co-star Romina Mondello. But as this morning's screening revealed, "To The Wonder" is Kurylenko's film more than anyone else's (Green referred to her as "the lead") so at least the front-and-center star was on hand. Of course the former Bond girl ("Quantum Of Solace") was delighted that Malick chose her to play Affleck's on/off lover in his sixth feature, but she possibly raised a few eyebrows when she insisted she shared a telepathic connection with the reclusive filmmaker. "In the audition, he didn't have to tell me he was going to work with me," she explained. "The telepathy between us was amazing because on set he didn't need to.

FilmNation Entertainment have released a first look still of Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick’s upcoming romance drama.
The as-yet-untitled film stars McAdams, Affleck, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Olga Kurylenko, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Baker, Amanda Peet and Barry Pepper.
No word on when it’ll be released, but it’s unlikely to hit until 2012 at the earliest.
If you can’t wait until 2012 for your next Malick fix, then fear not, the long-delayed The Tree of Life will be released in the Summer.
Check out the vague plot details and first look still for the upcoming romance drama below:
Set over a period of years, the film stars Affleck as Neil, a failed writer stuck in a loveless marriage with Marina (Kurylenko), whose expiring visa put pressure on Neil to propose. Neil and Marina have a daughter (Tatiana Chilin) together, but both of them are looking outside the marriage.
