The elusive motives behind Mark David Chapman fatally shooting John Lennon are now finally being explained in a boundary-breaking Apple TV+ docuseries.
“John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial” interrogates why Chapman, a photographer from Hawaii, set out to murder Beatle Lennon. Interviews with Chapman’s defense lawyer David Suggs and Dr Naomi Goldstein, the psychiatrist who first assessed Chapman, give new insights into his state of mind at the time of the 1980 killing. A witness to Lennon’s murder, taxi driver Richard Peterson, and Jay Hastings, a doorman at The Dakota who heard Lennon’s last words before he was shot outside of the infamous building, also speculate what compelled Chapman to kill.
Lennon and wife Yoko Ono’s shared confidante Elliot Mintz is further interviewed as the docuseries questions whether Chapman had religious motives or was part of a larger conspiracy to kill celebrities.

In 2006, a pay-per-view séance aimed to contact John Lennon’s ghost. The producers had previously — and unsuccessfully — attempted to make contact with Princess Diana in 2003. This time, they hoped to strike gold with one of the world’s most famous musicians, much to the irritation of those who knew him. While Yoko Ono declined to comment on the special, her longtime spokesperson, Elliot Mintz, railed against it. His opinion fell in line with that of many Beatles fans.

John Lennon was critical of many musicians, but he also had idols who influenced him throughout his career. One of these people was Jerry Lee Lewis. Lennon had admired him since childhood and thought of him as an early inspiration. When he was famous himself, Lennon had the opportunity to meet Lewis. He immediately made it clear that he adored the musician.
John Lennon was thrilled to meet his idol after a concert
In Lennon’s “lost weekend,” a period of time when he was separated from Yoko Ono, he attended one of Lewis’ concerts. During this time, Lennon drank often, which typically made him argumentative and unpleasant. At Lewis’ show, however, he showed a different side of himself.
“I had only three childhood idols, Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee, and I haven’t seen any live,” he told a friend, per the book Lennon: The Definitive Biography by Ray Coleman.

When John Lennon headed into the studio in 1971 to make his solo classic Imagine, wth Yoko Ono and Phil Spector, he had a lot to prove. He wanted to shake off the shadow of the Beatles, yet also build on the band’s legacy. He was itching to leave his ex-bandmates in the dust — Imagine has his notorious attack on Paul McCartney, “How Do You Sleep?” But he also wanted to come to terms with his past and embrace his future with Yoko. He wanted both raging protest songs and tender love ballads.

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were best friends for what felt like forever. The two grew up together in Hollywood and even starred in their own reality TV show, The Simple Life, from 2003 until 2007. But as friendships sometimes go, the two drifted apart, or, more specifically, really started hating each other out of nowhere. For Nicole and Paris, it all went down in early 2005 when they abruptly stopped speaking. While it's still unclear what led to their brief falling out, it was rumored that Nicole showed Paris's infamous sex tape at a party celebrating Paris's February 2005 Saturday Night Live hosting gig. Although their friendship never seemed to return to what it once was, Nicole and Paris appear to be on good terms now. RelatedWhat the Hell Happened to These Famous Friendships? It wouldn't be a dinner party in Beverly Hills without someone offending someone else.
In The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7 Episode 5, Dorit and her husband had some interesting things to say about Eileen to Rinna, but before we get to that, it's back to pantygate.
Seeing Erika Jayne get ready for a music video is the best version of MTV's Making The Video that never happened. All of those diamonds would make any pop star jealous.
And only Erika could whip out the pair of underwear that was "gifted" by Dorit while also showing off her new Chanel bracelet. She is pissed about Dorit's present, and I have a feeling the newbie is no match for a woman who wears "cunty" on a necklace.
This says more about Dorit than about Erika.

John Lennon's former spokesperson Elliot Mintz has denied that the ex-Beatle became a political conservative in his final years. Fred Seaman, who served as Lennon's assistant from 1979 to his death in 1980, elicited controversy by claiming in the new documentary Beatles Stories that the rocker came to regret the idealistic message of songs like 'Imagine' and 'Power To The People'. Brooke Mueller is having a great time being away from it all. "We spoke yesterday. She's doing great," Mueller's rep, Elliot Mintz, tells E! News. "Just this week she went sailing and had dinner with her kids. We expect her to be back within the next couple weeks. No rehab, no falling off the wagon." Mueller voluntarily entered a stress-management program about two weeks ago, setting off speculation that perhaps she was back in rehab to readdress substance-abuse issues that have plagued her in the past. A family member of Mueller confirms to E! News that she took her twin sons with Charlie Sheen, a nanny and a "sober coach" to a rented home on a coastal property in...

In a statement to "Extra," Brooke's rep, Elliot Mintz, said: "What we are really talking about here is not rehab. That is a term we are painfully familiar with. Brooke is receiving professional help in the area of stress management. She recognized that it would be in her best interest to deal with personal issues involving stress that have the potential of challenging her sobriety. By seeking proper guidance, she will be able to continue to resist returning to old behavior patterns. There is no shame in asking for help when it is called for. I have been informed she is doing well." Brooke recently told "Extra" in an exclusive interview that she had learned to "put my priorities straight and to focus on doing the next right thing in front of me. As long as I do the next right thing, I'll be all right." She said she is...

Given the activity of the last few months, we imagine there's a lot to manage. "She has not gone back into rehab," rep Elliot Mintz told E! News. "That report was inaccurate." Here's the deal, according to the rep: "What's going on is Brooke is currently receiving professional help in the area of stress management. It was Brooke who ...

Britney Spears's father, Jamie Spears, is expected to join attorneys appearing before a Los Angeles family law judge on Monday, to complain that the lawyer for her ex, Kevin Federline, has overcharged the pop star. Sources say Britney's new custody attorney, Stacy Phillips, will dispute a $500,000 tab from K-Fed attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, as well as a $600,000 bill from Britney's previous custody attorney, Sorrell Trope. The main agenda item, however, will be the invoice from Kaplan, who, according to sources, was deposed on the matter last week, as was Kaplan's former spokesman. Elliot Mintz, a new spokesman for Kaplan,...

Paris Hilton's publicist has fired back at reports the socialite was turned away from two Maui, Hawaii hotels before booking into a private villa during her recent post-jail vacation. Reports suggested Hilton attempted to check-in to The Four Seasons and the Fairmont Kea Lani upon her arrival on Maui last week, but they turned her down. But aide Elliot Mintz has confirmed his client simply appeared to be checking into the two luxury hotels in an effort to give the paparazzi the slip. Mintz says, "She spent all her time at a private residence." The publicist also denies stories Hilton spent her nights partying with locals, insisting the socialite spent most of her time alone with on-off boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos.

Paris Hilton's mother Kathy is adamant her daughter will emerge from her 23-day prison term "a better person" and is doing everything she can to support the jailed heiress. The Simple Life star began her jail term at the Century Regional Detention Center on Sunday night, after violating her probation following a 2006 drunk-driving arrest. And while Kathy Hilton was fighting back the tears as she accompanied the 26-year-old to jail at the weekend, she is confident Paris will learn from her mistakes. Hilton's publicist Elliot Mintz tells the New York Post, "Kathy is very emotional. She wanted to exhibit strength for her daughter. She thought it was the most important thing to do. She thinks Paris will emerge from this a better person."...

Socialite Paris Hilton has hit back at criticism she is refusing to take responsibility for driving with a suspended license, insisting she is "ready to face the consequences." The 26-year-old is set to spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty in court last Friday of violating terms of her 2006 drink-driving arrest. At the hearing, Hilton claimed her long-term representative Elliot Mintz had repeatedly informed her that her license had been suspended for only 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters. But Hilton, who is in the process of appealing her jail sentence, wants to make clear she realizes how serious driving under the influence is. She says: "After reading the media's coverage of my court hearing, I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me. I absolutely realize how serious driving under the influence is. I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should - no matter how slightly. I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. No one is above the law. I surely am not. I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."...

The 26-year-old's lawyers filed a one-page notice of appeal after her Los Angeles Superior Court hearing on Friday. The notice is the first stage towards an appeal and does not automatically guarantee one will take place. The Simple Life star Hilton is currently due to spend 45 days in a California correctional facility. She has fired her longtime representative Elliot Mintz after he accepted partially responsibility for the strict sentence through misinformation.

Socialite Paris Hilton is facing a 90-day jail spell after being found in violation of the terms of her probation. The hotel heiress was spotted driving along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on Tuesday night without her headlights on, according to police reports. Officers pulled Hilton over in her Bentley convertible and found she was driving with a suspended license - the result of her drink driving arrest last September. She later pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was placed on probation. Hilton's publicist Elliot Mintz insists he and his client were unaware that her driving license had been suspended. But Nick Velasquez, spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, tells People magazine, "We have sufficient evidence to prove that Hilton had knowledge of the suspension, and yet continued to drive." A hearing has been set for April 17.

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton reportedly visited a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles earlier this week in a bid to fix her 'drooping' left eyelid. The 25-year-old was allegedly left with muscle damage in her left eye after a botched eyelid lift operation six years ago, and the damage has reportedly been worsened by her fondness for wearing blue-tinted contact lenses over her naturally brown eyes. A source tells PageSix.com, "(Her eyes) have been drying out lately. She is ignoring doctors' orders to not wear her tinted contacts." However, Hilton's representative Elliot Mintz denies the rumors, insisting, "To the best of my knowledge, Paris has never had any kind of cosmetic surgery and has not mentioned any medical procedures having to do with her eyes."...

Paris Hilton will no longer be associated with two nightclubs called Club Paris, because the socialite's failure to attend scheduled appearances has angered the venues' owner. Fred Khalilian refuses to change the name of his flagship club in Orlando, Florida or that of its sister club in nearby Jacksonville. He has now "fired" Hilton, who even arrived six hours late for the Orlando club's opening two years ago, and wants the two Club Paris' to refer to the French capital instead. Khalilian says, "She's created a circus for herself. It's all about, how has she screwed up now?" Hilton's spokesman Elliot Mintz, who claims neither Hilton nor himself have been contacted by Khalilian, says, "I'm certainly disappointed to learn of Fred's unfortunate comments. We shall address his statements at the appropriate time."...

Paris Hilton has hit back at reports a suspicious white substance that appeared in her nose, when she was photographed in New York City this week, was cocaine. The New York Post printed a photo of the socialite and suggested that there was a suspicion of white powder in one nostril. The shot was taken after Hilton and friend Brandon Davis had enjoyed a lunch together and were leaving in her car. Hilton's representative Elliot Mintz slams the rumors saying, "They asked me if Paris was using cocaine. I explained that she does not use narcotics. They asked what the substance could have been. I explained that I was not there... so I offered some possible explanations." Mintz insists Hilton won't be asking the newspaper for a retraction at this point, but added she might consider suing them in the future. He adds, "They did not make a specific charge. So, I am inclined to let it be for the moment. Of course, Paris shall reserve all of her legal options."...

Socialite Paris Hilton has pulled out of an appearance at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday after objecting to jokes in her script which allegedly poke fun at her celebrity friends. The hotel heiress was set to co-host the ceremony with new best pal Britney Spears, but the singing star backed out of her role on Thursday - just hours after the announcement was made. Hilton has now followed in Spears' footsteps, after representatives claimed the show's bosses could not reach an agreement with the 25-year-old over the content of the script, which Hilton found "objectionable." Her spokesman Elliot Mintz says, "It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers. Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarrassing about people she knows."...

Britney Spears and Paris Hilton have become so close since the pop superstar filed for divorce from Kevin Federline the two are now like sisters, according to Hilton's representative. The party pair have frequently been spotted out on the town over the past several weeks and according to Hilton's spokesman Elliot Mintz it's more than just a passing fancy. He tells entertainment website Tmz.com the two are "really forming a bond" and that they're "becoming like sisters." Mintz claims 24-year-old Spears "looks up" to 25-year-old Hilton and that she's "extremely grateful" the socialite has taken her under her wing. Mintz says Spears' sexy new style, which consists of wearing barely-there skirts and cleavage-baring tops, has been "inspired" by Hilton. Downplaying reports of a fight between Hilton and Lindsay Lohan over the weekend, Mintz claims the three women have, in fact, created an alliance. He adds, "What I've observed is that we have three extraordinarily powerful women who generate a tremendous amount of attention, money and adulation and they're tired of other people trying to ride on their coattails and creating false drama."...

Singer/actress Paris Hilton claims she was punched in the face by former beauty queen Shanna Moakler at Hollywood nightclub Hyde in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Hilton alleges the estranged wife of rocker Travis Barker walked up to her at around 1am, "used the most vile of language" and then hit her in the jaw, according to her publicist Elliot Mintz. However, Moakler claims Hilton's boyfriend Stavros Niarchos bent her wrist back, before pouring a drink over her and pushing her down some stairs. Both women have filed police reports alleging battery. Hilton's publicist Mintz tells ABCNews.com, "(Moakler) shouted a barrage of obscenities and attacked her. She called me right afterwards and told me that she did not need to go to the hospital, but that she would file a police report. I can't say for certain why this happened, but Moakler is known to be upset by rumors that Paris is dating Travis Barker. Those rumors are not true. They are not dating." Hilton was recently linked to Barker in media reports. Barker and Moakler filed for divorce in August.

Paris Hilton has hit out at reports she hacked into Lindsay Lohan's BlackBerry and sent offensive messages to her friends from it. The blonde socialite, who suffered a similar ignominy in 2004 when private text messages on her mobile phone were leaked onto the internet, insists the accusations are "silly." Lohan's spokeswoman Leslie Sloane Zelnik tells PageSix.com the perpetrator sent "disgusting and very mean messages that everyone thought were coming from Lindsay. They weren't. We now have her lawyers looking into it. Some people think Paris may have been involved because the wording of the messages sounds very familiar." Hilton's representative Elliot Mintz retorts, "I'm saddened this happened to Lindsay. I lived through this with Paris two years ago when her Sidekick was hacked into, and the loss of privacy is unbearable. But as for any suggestion that Paris would have anything to do with this, that is silly, untrue and unfortunate."...

A New York teenager caught in the middle of Christie Brinkley's marriage breakdown is now considering legal action against the supermodel's estranged husband, according to the teen's lawyers. An attorney for 19-year-old Diana Bianchi claims Peter Cook caused "substantial and irreparable harm" when he showered the aspiring singer with luxurious gifts - including a Nissan Maxima car - and then seduced her behind Brinkley's back. Lawyer Joseph Tacopina tells the New York Daily News, "It amounts to preying on an innocent, young and naive girl who would otherwise have no attraction to a 50-year-old man. He offered her money, a job, career advancement. And when he got her comfortable, he made his real intentions known." Cook met Bianchi when she was 18-years-old and working at a toy store in Southampton, Long Island and then hired her as his personal assistant at his architecture firm. Brinkley has packed up the couple's two children, Sailor, eight and Jack, 11 and left the couple's home, after reporters started questioning her husband's wandering eye. According to her spokesman Elliott Mintz, "She thought it would be best to be with her children in a different environment, to be a little more protective of what they will see, hear and come across in the news. It's temporary. They will be coming back. For me to say that she's not hurt or shocked, that would just be foolish."...
