Skynet is gearing up for its long-rumored hard reset.
My Entertainment World (via Omega Underground) brings word that Tim Miller’s untitled Terminator reboot, the first in a “three-film reinvention,” is poised to enter production in the spring.
Produced in collaboration with James Cameron, a bona fide veteran of the series who promises to “revamp” The Terminator for the 21st century, both Spain and Budapest have been earmarked as potential locations, which tells us that Skydance’s sixth entry into the illustrious franchise could be prepped and ready for a summer 2019 release.
Only Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger are on the casting docket – for now, at least – though last we reported, James Cameron stressed his desire to “hand off the baton” to a new generation. Think of how Star Wars handled its transition from one era to the next and you’ll begin to get an idea of Cameron’s line of thinking.

Update: TV's original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, wrote a fiery response via Facebook: "To James Cameron -Stop dissing Ww: You poor soul. Perhaps you do not understand the character. I most certainly do. Like all women--we are more than the sum of our parts. Your thuggish jabs at a brilliant director, Patty Jenkins, are ill advised. This movie was spot on. Gal Gadot was great. I know, Mr. Cameron--because I have embodied this character for more than 40 years. So--stop It."

By the time he's back for the 2019 installment of the franchise, 35 years will have passed since 1984's The Terminator.
The next Terminator movie is reuniting Arnold Schwarzenegger, 70, with Linda Hamilton for the first time since 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and director Tim Miller and series creator James Cameron say they are ready to embrace the age of the T-800 and Sarah Connor.

Not for the first time, Skydance has pressed the hard reset button on James Cameron’s Terminator franchise.
But unlike Salvation and Terminator: Genisys, the Powers That Be have an ace in the hole in Linda Hamilton, who’s all set to reprise the iconic role of Sarah Connor for Cameron and Tim Miller’s “three-film reinvention.” That’s not to say Hamilton has signed for all three instalments; word is that James Cameron and fellow series stalwart David Ellison want to pass the torch onto a whole new generation of characters. Think of how Star Wars handled the transition from Jedi to 2015’s The Force Awakens.
And so, in balancing the old with the new, Skydance’s sixth Terminator film will place Linda Hamilton and the returning Arnold Schwarzenegger at its core, with Cameron and Miller said to be casting the net in search of an “18-something young...

To this day, there are a handful of iconic roles associated with the immortal Arnold Schwarzenegger, the most recognizable (arguably) of those being the T-800. Having successfully catapulted the bodybuilder-turned-actor’s career into the stratosphere with 1984’s The Terminator, director James Cameron came back for another round in 1991 with Terminator 2: Judgement Day, sparking endless debate amongst the geek community in the time since as to which film is superior. Personally, I lean toward the original, but appreciate the merits of both.
As time has gone by, several sequels by way of other directors have debuted in cinemas, none of which garnered the acclaim of the first two installments. In fact, both Salvation and Genesys intended on kickstarting new multi-picture arcs, each of which obviously failed to do so. Furthermore, things didn’t go so well on the small screen, with The Sarah Connor Chronicles being cancelled by Fox after only two seasons.

One of the most important questions for any new “Terminator” film involves the franchise’s continuity, since it has been bogged down with time travel canon. Both original director and executive producer James Cameron and new director Tim Miller shared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter whether the new film will incorporate later installments in the franchise, some of which weren’t well received. “This is a continuation of the story from ‘Terminator 1’ and ‘Terminator 2.’ And we’re pretending the other films were a bad dream,” Cameron said. “Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse.” Also Read: How Linda Hamilton's.

Some interesting new details have surfaced regarding the plans for Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in the upcoming new Terminator films. During a recent interview with THR, producer James Cameron and director Tim Miller talked about how they will embrace Schwarzenegger's age in a different way than Terminator: Genisys.
The actor will be 71-years-old by the time they shoot the next Terminator movie and when talking about his age, Cameron said:
“You don’t have to get around it. The beauty of it is: He’s a cyborg. And so, the org part is on the outside, meaning organism. And Reese says it in the first film: ‘They sweat. They have bad breath.’ Because they were supposed to be infiltration units, so there’s this idea that flesh sort of sheaths over a metal endo-skeleton. So that would age normally. So, obviously he’s one that’s been in action...

So, how does one approach one of the leading lights of 1980s action movies and ask them to come back and save the world one more time? If that leading light is Terminator's Linda Hamilton, as well as your ex-wife, the answer is apparently "very sensitively."

James Cameron is in the midst of perhaps his greatest undertaking yet as he begins to shoot two Avatar sequels simultaneously (with two more to come after that) while also working with director Tim Miller on what they hope will be a new Terminator trilogy. He pointed to Linda Hamilton's Terminator character Sarah Connor as what a female action protagonist could be...

Have you ever wondered why all the T-800s in the Terminator films look like Arnold Schwarzenegger? I have! I would love to know the story behind why these cybernetic organisms look the way they do. There's obviously a reason and it sounds like that's something James Cameron will explore in the upcoming Terminator trilogy he is developing.
While talking with The Arnold Fans in an interview, Cameron was asked if he would consider Arnold also playing a human character in any of the movies, and who the T-800 units would be based on? This was his reply:
“Yeah, you got to ask yourself, ‘Why did they make these characters look and sound like Arnold? There has to be a reason. So yeah, it has flashed through my mind that there has to have been a prototype. There has to have been a guy who’s DNA was harvested from...

Titan Books latest book The Art Of The Film Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets gives a detailed description and a plethora of artwork that inspired director Luc Besson to create the visually stunning film. While the movie was rooted from the classic graphic novel series, Luc Besson advanced the saga to have a more unique science fiction feel to it. In doing so the creative team behind the movie had to alter some of the characters and settings for the movie. This required extensive character and set design for the CGI team to transform into real life.

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen reboot is picking up speed, filling out its cast, and moving closer to production, for an expected 2018 release. We already know that David Harbour (Stranger Things) will star as Hellboy, Ian McShane (Deadwood, American Gods) will play his adoptive father, Professor Trevor "Broom" Bruttenholm, and Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) will direct. Deadline is reporting that Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil) is in final talks to play the (supposed) villain, the Blood Queen herself.
Based on recent fan and media reactions, the R-rated reboot has been making all the right moves and generating a lot of excitement. So, this latest news is either spectacular or horrible, depending upon your love/hate for Jovovich's work. It's a fair concern, because she was great in The Fifth Element and A Perfect Getaway (a really taut action-thriller), but she was awful in Ultraviolet and The Fourth Kind.

While the X-Men franchise has ultimately been served pretty well with the long-running franchise, there is a negative side to these films. In keeping the focus on Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, and Mystique, they’ve given a lot of other characters the short end of the stick. Among those characters have been Jubilee, Angel, Gambit, Juggernaut, and of course, Colossus. Yes, all of these characters have had some screen time, but not really enough to make a solid impact, and that’s the main downside when you have a cast of 127 mutants.
While it’s impossible for the studio to actually take time to properly focus on some of these characters, the fact that Fox is willing to actually split the X-Men's related characters up into different franchises has already made a difference with one pretty big character. I’m talking about Colossus. This is a guy who plays a...

I’ll be back is a line of dialogue that needs no introduction. First uttered by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s towering android assassin in The Terminator all those years ago, the catchphrase has since been used in practically every film starring the Austrian Oak, including all four sequels to James Cameron’s sci-fi classic.
As it happens, it’s also an apt response for Schwarzenegger to call upon after one story suggested that he was essentially finished with the iconic franchise. Not so, it seems, after the actor told Fandango in no uncertain terms that, “I’m looking forward to doing another Terminator movie, yes.”
The outlet caught up with Arnie in anticipation of Aftermath, a gruelling depiction of loss and grief that evokes memories of his memorable turn in 2015’s Maggie. It was here that Fandango asked Schwarzenegger about the current state of the Terminator series, which has essentially been...

When Paramount Pictures released Terminator: Genisys, they had big plans for the franchise, and with the introduction of younger versions of fan-favourite characters, a new timeline, and the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, all signs pointed to a bright future for the beloved series of sci-fi movies.
Unfortunately, that didn’t translate to positive reviews or much interest from fans. With 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, Terminator: Genisys made only $440.6 million on a $155 million budget. It wasn’t a huge flop then, but the studio didn’t exactly pull in a big profit once all was said and done, and the fact that it earned less than $100 million in North America didn’t exactly point to good things to come for the franchise moving forward.

Just because Arnold Schwarzenegger has purportedly bid adieu to the legendary franchise doesn’t necessarily mean The Terminator is dead – far from it, in fact, with Skydance head honcho David Ellison revealing to Collider that the series has “an incredibly bright future.”
Not only that, but Ellison went on to tease a major franchise announcement for 2017, indicating that James Cameron and Tim Miller’s nebulous reboot may well be further along than many had anticipated. That’s merely conjecture for now, though, considering that we only learned of said revival two months ago. Couple this with Cameron’s ongoing commitment to his 27 Avatar sequels and one would assume that it’s still too early in the project’s lifecycle to warrant an announcement.
Even still, while chatting to Collider, Ellison stressed that this news “is the direction [The Terminator] needs to head,” which is exciting in and of itself. After scrapping plans...

A lot of fans like to think that their favorite movies came out of perfect, conflict-free little ovens. That the filmmakers knew they had gold from day one and went on their merry little ways to success. While last year’s Deadpool was the ultimate underdog story, a lot of fans still were under the impression that the ones behind the camera got along like in a happy fairy tale. Given the departure of director Tim Miller from the sequel, that’s clearly no longer the case. No matter how great the film, chances are they went through strenuous rewrites, and that those developing had pretty heated arguments.

Fox has had a solid run with their X-Men film franchise under the guidance of Bryan Singer, but it looks like they are looking to move on and try something different. A recent report from THR says that Fox sees "signs of wear and tear on a franchise." X-Men: Apocalypse didn't do as well as they had hoped. On top of that, Hugh Jackman is about to end his run as Wolverine with Logan and the contracts for Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult are up. If Fox wants them back they are going to have to fork over a lot of money to re-up their contracts.

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool sequel has been a hot topic of conversation lately because of some of the drama surrounding the production. It was also recently reported that Junkie Xl would not come back to provide the musical score for the sequel because of Miller’s surprising exit.

Via Taylor Swift's Instagram, the pop singer confirmed that she wasn't just wearing any ol' Deadpool costume. The "Bad Blood" singer was able to borrow the actual Deadpool costume from actor Ryan Reynolds. Of course, the sequel was recently in the news this week, with Tim Miller departing the project over creative differences with Reynolds. There are currently conflicting reports regarding the status of David Leitch (John Wick), who's said to be in the running or to actual have the gig, depending on which Hollywood trade you prefer reading. Other directors in the mix are reportedly Magnus Martens (Luke Cage) and Drew Goddard (Daredevil, The Cabin in the Woods). Casting for Domino is also in the way with a number of young Hollywood actresses testing including Kelly Rohrbach, Eve Hewson, Ruby Rose, Mackenzie Davis, Lizzy Caplan, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sienna Miller, Sofia Boutella, Stephanie Sigman and Sylvia Hoeks.

Most people would be hard-pressed to think of positive things to say about reviled dictators like Saddam Hussein, Benito Mussolini and Kim Jong-un - but for Donald Trump, it's apparently not a problem. During a campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina, Tuesday evening, the presumptive Gop nominee praised late Iraqi dictator Hussein for being "so good" at killing terrorists. "He was a bad guy, really bad guy. But you know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn't read them the rights - they didn't talk, they were a terrorist, it was over. Today,...

First it was his race-based attack on a federal judge. Now, it's Donald Trump's bald politicization of the Orlando terror attack that has his fellow Republicans cringing - and worse. It's been over a month since his last remaining competitors - Ted Cruz and John Kasich - bowed out of the race, and it seems that the majority of the Republican establishment has accepted what seems to be the inevitable: Donald Trump will be the party's nominee in the general election this November. But even in these last few weeks before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Trump has...

WonderCon left San Francisco in 2011 under the guise that the Moscone Convention Center needed to be renovated. Bay Area residents were told that the move was temporary. Yet here we are in 2016, and WonderCon appears to have found a new home in the welcoming arms of Orange County. Nevertheless, there is still hope for those who live on the geek side in the Bay Area.

A lot of people were shocked by how well Deadpool did at the box office. Not even Fox was expecting to see that happen. They didn’t think it would do very well, which is why they didn’t do anything with it for so long. Well, Tim Miller, Ryan Reynolds, and the creative team of the movie sure did prove them wrong. Now the studio has a whole new moneymaking franchise on their hands!
During an interview with Deadline, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige shared his thoughts on the film, and he understands exactly why it connected with critics and audiences. In case you’re wondering if Marvel Studios will ever develop an R-rated movie, he says there have been no discussions about it, and explains:

Third candidate's a charm? With many Republicans unwilling to give their votes to presumptive nominee Donald Trump or Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, some are now pinning their hopes on a potential third-party candidate. In a Facebook manifesto published Thursday morning, rising-star Republican and Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse argued that neither political party is working and called for a one-term, "problem-solver" candidate for this "messy moment." "Why shouldn't America draft an honest leader who will focus on 70% solutions for the next four years? You know ... an adult?" he asked before closing his nearly 1,500-word open letter with the hash tags #WeCanDoBetter and #GiveUsMoreChoices.

The rights to the Marvel Comics villain Taskmaster have been over at 20th Century Fox for some time now, but according to ComicBook.com, the rights have recently reverted back to Marvel Studios. The rights of the character were brought into question during an interview with Deadpool director Tim Miller. When asked what other characters he'd like to see fight Deadpool on the big screen, he said:
“I’d love to see Deadpool fight Batman - no, I’m just kidding, that’s not even in the Marvel family! I’d love to see Deadpool go up against Taskmaster who’s another Marvel total fuckin’ badass. But if I was to stay inside the Fox family, I would like to see him fight X-23, the female Wolverine. The female clone of Wolverine.”
It was that comment of staying "inside the Fox family" that raised some eyebrows. That basically implied that...

Hello again, dear readers, and I hope you all avoided Fantastic Four like the plague this past weekend. On that topic, this is three weeks in a row that I’ve covered a comic book movie here on Trailer Trashin’. Now let’s dive into the new red band trailer for Deadpool.
Premise: In an attempt to cure his terminal cancer, former special forces operative Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is subjected to an experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, disfigured skin, and a dark and twisted sense of humor. Armed with new abilities and a new identity as “Deadpool,” Wilson hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Note: This is a red band trailer, which means it can only play in theaters with R-rated movies, and therefore is not appropriate for those under the age of seventeen. This trailer contains tons of violence, plenty of blood and gore,...

The towering giant known as Colossus is one of those mutant heroes who hasn.t properly received his due in the various X-Men movies. After appearing briefly in X2: X-Men United and Brett Ratner.s X-Men: The Last Stand, Colossus (as played by actor Daniel Cudmore) finally got some battle action in Bryan Singer.s X-Men: Days of Future Past. And he was offered the chance to play him again. but he passed. I did get a call for Colossus but it was CGI/stunts and not using my voice so I graciously passed. Love 2 play him in the future as an actor. daniel cudmore (@danielcudmore) August 5, 2015 That.s a Tweet from Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore, who admits that he could have returned to play the shiny, metallic mutant in Tim Miller.s Deadpool movie, but didn.t necessarily agree with how he was going to be portrayed on screen.

Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool is the film we never thought we'd see. 20th Century Fox kept the X-Men spinoff in limbo for years, and after his less than auspicious on-screen debut (more on that below), things didn't look good for Marvel Comics' 'Merc with a Mouth'.
More fool us. And when the first trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, it was so well received that they played it twice.
Guess where I'm hiding the chimichanga, and win!
