In solidarity with striking SAG-AFTRA members, Kristin Scott Thomas was a no-show at the Toronto International Film Festival world premiere of her directorial debut, “North Star.” Finola Dwyer, one of its two producers, said during her own introduction that the film is loosely autobiographical for the actress-turned-filmmaker, who also shares screenwriting credit with John Micklethwait.
While it’s known Scott Thomas’s mother had two husbands, both of whom were Navy flyers who died while on duty, it’s a bit of a shame that Scott Thomas wasn’t on hand to clarify exactly to what extent the story is based on her real family and how much artistic license she took.
The story revolves around three sisters living disparate lives reuniting for the wedding of their twice-widowed mother, Diana, played by Scott Thomas herself. Katherine (Scarlett Johansson) has followed in her late father’s footsteps to become a captain in the Royal Navy.

Williams responded with a bit of defeat in his voice. “Not as much as I wanted to be, unfortunately.”
The “Millennium” singer explained how he reverted to his prepubescent, awkward self whenever around the pop princess. “I messed that up by being 13 whenever I was around her. It was like the girl from the year above me. ‘I don’t know how to speak to you!’ But she’s my crush,...

Exclusive: Gary Oldman has found “great joy” in playing the Falstaffian, flatulent-sharing, British espionage operative Jackson Lamb in Apple TV+’s Slow Horses, which has just launched season two. Meanwhile, the Harry Potter star confirmed he will play Harry Truman in one scene in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Lank-haired Lamb plays the operative in charge of a host of lost causes exiled out of harms way to Slough House where they wind up defending the realm from harm.
Lamb looks shambolic in shabby raincoat, weather-proofed by beer stains and slops of Kung-pao chicken, and yet you can never underestimate him.
”I don’t know how nice Jackson is really,” he tells Deadline. “I think that rather than seeking a career in the spy world, the spy world finds you. And so he is loyal and has a very strong sort of moral compass and is in a very questionable career...

HollywoodNews.com: Could Justin Bieber not be as nice of a star as teen girls everywhere think? It appears he’s starting to get a bad reputation, even being called a “brat.”
A BBC radio DJ named Scott Miles was recently interviewed by ‘Metro’ and ended up commenting on Bieber when he was asked about the rudest celebrity he had ever met, reports Hollyscoop. Miles opened up that the teen sensation “isn’t the friendliest” and is a bit of a “precocious little brat.”
After these comments were read by many of Bieber’s devoted fans, Miles was flooded with responses. But he stuck with his opinion and responded that the dislike was just his experience with Bieber.
Miles might want to consider hiring a bodyguard until this blows over.
