Last week, former President Barack Obama recently paid a visit to President Joe Biden at the White House, where they discussed the upcoming election, voicing concern about Biden’s campaign. Obama’s return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue served primarily as a working visit, as he joined Biden and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a call to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (Aca).
In the call, Obama expressed his belief that Biden’s State of the Union remarks had been effective and resonated with the public. He also highlighted the significance of health care as a politically influential issue in the upcoming election. The campaign has recorded additional content that features both presidents, which will be released in the coming weeks.
Obama voiced his concern again that the Biden campaign needs to take the threat of Donald Trump returning to the White House very seriously.

Disney’s former head of communications Zenia Mucha is advising TikTok as the beleagued company fights calls to shut it down in the U.S. on security concerns, Deadline has confirmed. It’s already banned across the Federal government with President Biden recently ramping up demands that the global app’s Chinese parent sell the U.S. business to a company Stateside, or see it vanish.
Mucha’s advisory role to the besieged social media platform falls under her Zm Stategies banner. Having moved back East after officially leaving Disney in late 2021, the former righthand lady to past and present CEO Bob Iger formed the company in August last year.
No stranger to the sharp elbows of the political world, Mucha was a hardball advocate for GOP New York Senator Alfonse D’Amato and later Governor George Pataki before joining Iger and the House of Mouse in 2001. Whether those partisan skills...

Kenny Loggins’ 1986 hit “Danger Zone” is climbing the iTunes chart again thanks to the phenomenal box office success of “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The song first roared to success when it appeared in the original film and on the soundtrack. “Danger Zone” was composed by Giorgio Moroder and the lyrics were written by Tom Whitlock. Before Loggins walked in the door and added his ideas to the tune, the song went through different vocalists including Reo Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin, but Cronin couldn’t hit the high notes.
Loggins could and did.
The “Top Gun” soundtrack would go on to become one of the biggest-selling movie albums of all-time, so its sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick,” seemed a natural place to revisit the song.
Loggins spoke with Variety about re-recording “Danger Zone,” but why the original was deemed superior, and his upcoming autobiography, “Still Alright,” out June 14.

Rusty Young, the cofounder of Poco and only member to last though its entire five-decade history, died Wednesday at 75 of a heart attack at his Davisville, Missouri home, a representative confirmed.
“I just received word that my friend Rusty Young has passed away and crossed that line into eternity,” cofounder Richie Furay said in a statement. “My heart is saddened; he was a dear and longtime friend who help me pioneer and create a new Southern California musical sound called ‘country rock.’ He was an innovator on the steel guitar and carried the name Poco on for more than 50 years. Our friendship was real and he will be deeply missed. My prayers are with his wife, Mary, and his children Sara and Will.”
Poco and Young continued to tour through March 2020, finally derailed by the pandemic. The group was formed in 1968 by Young and ex-Buffalo Springfield members Furay and Jim Messina.

Donald Trump said Tuesday that Mitt Romney should "not apologize" for describing nearly half of all Americans as people "dependent on government" who are unable to take "personal responsibility for their lives."
The billionaire business magnate added that the presidential nominee had "probably [said] what he means.”

In 2008, Barack Obama shattered all election fundraising records, raising three-quarters of $1 billion and outspending John McCain 2 to 1. Because so much of the money came from small donors, the Obama campaign made the largest fundraising haul in election history look like an organic, grassroots embodiment of democracy. It was the first time that the strength of fundraising was key not only to a candidate's campaign but to his story.
Obama's on his way to meeting, if not besting that total for 2012, but the grassroots aura of the effort is gone: Obama is, Crossroads Gps will happily remind you, a celebrity, and much of his fundraising comes from dinners with George Clooney, neither of which are consonant with the populist tinge of his reelection campaign. This puts the Obama campaign in a bind: fundraising is the marker of the organization's strength, but the more money Obama raises the more he distances himself from his own narrative.

The president is in New York City for a swanky do at Sarah Jessica Parker's pad, just the latest bash with the American elite

Obama's big-name tour makes its next stop on Thursday at Sarah Jessica Parker's place in the West Village of New York City. The "Sex and the City" star, who is married to actor Matthew Broderick, is hosting a cozy $40,000-per-person fundraiser along with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The president and first lady Michelle Obama will then appear at a second glitzy fundraiser in Manhattan, headlined by a performance by Mariah Carey.
While Democrats have long held political and ideological ties to the TV and movie industry,...

Wintour was on hand to preside over the Windy City debut of the "Runway to Win" collection, a line of Obama-themed clothes and accessories by designers like Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Beyoncé & Tina Knowles, Tory Burch, Tracy...

President Barack Obama's campaign will be releasing a documentary next week about his first term in office, according to the Associated Press, and thanks to Twitter, his re-election committee may not have to look far for a title.
Some of the suggestions for #NameObamasDocumentary included: "The Fresh Prince Of Washington D.C.," "Hope Sinks," "Me, Myself, and Iran," "No Drama For Obama" and "Fahrenheit 15.4 Trillion."
The 17-minute documentary was directed by Davis Guggenheim, who directed Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."
Obama's campaign manager Jim Messina says the film will "put into perspective the enormous challenges that the nation faced when the president took office and the strides we've made together."
What do you think the documentary should be called?...

Washington — President Barack Obama's re-election campaign plans to release a 17-minute documentary next week about his first term in office.
Campaign manager Jim Messina says the documentary was directed by Davis Guggenheim, whose credits include the Academy Award-winning, "An Inconvenient Truth," about Al Gore's global-warming campaign.
Messina says the documentary will, in his words, "put into perspective the enormous challenges that the nation faced when the president took office and the strides we've made together."
Campaigns frequently release documentary films to reach voters and amplify the narrative of a candidate's message. In 1992, TV producers Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason helped create "The Man From Hope," a campaign biography of Bill Clinton.

The American politician first took office four years ago and now, with the 2012 presidential election quickly approaching, he has named 35 ambassadors to help rally voters as he strives to win another White House term.
The Obama administration announced the complete list of advisers on Wednesday and Desperate Housewives star Longoria and funnyman Penn were among the consultants and politicians.
A statement from Obama's campaign manager, Jim Messina, reads, "The president’s national co-chairs will be tremendous assets on the ground as we build the biggest grassroots campaign in history. They each share the president’s vision for a future where every American can have a fair shot at success, where hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded."

Bands break-up or go on hiatus all the time; reunions have almost become a standard for cult acts, particularly after big 10th or 20th anniversaries. Try 43 years on for size. That's what's happened with Buffalo Springfield, the seminal folk-rock group that acted as a springboard for Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and Jim Messina in the mid-'60s. The troupe only put out three albums, and disbanded after a little more than two years. But now some of these superstars have played a couple warm-up shows for the big gig, at Bonnaroo this weekend, the lineup featuring Furay, Stills, Young,...

Photo by David Katz/Obama for America.Presidential advisor David Axelrod will soon depart from the White House for the greener pastures of the campaign trail. Axelrod, who numbers among Barack Obama’s most mustachioed aides, will leave Washington for Chicago in late January, when, after a brief reprieve, he’ll begin preparing for the 2012 race. He has a bit of catching up to do if he wants to keep pace with Politico, which started prepping for the next presidential election on November 7, 2008, when the site heralded Bobby “Who?” Jindal as the 2012 G.O.P. front-runner. The role of top-ranking David will be filled by David Plouffe, who managed Obama’s presidential campaign. The New York Times reports: “A senior official said Mr. Plouffe will likely take some of Mr. Axelrod’s duties as well as some from the deputy chief of staff, Jim Messina, who is also expected to...
