Just a quick note to let the filmmakers in our readership know that the Ifp Narrative Lab, which I am leading along with Gretchen McGowan, has a deadline of April 17. The lab is a five-day intensive series of workshops, roundtables and presentations for filmmakers whose works are at the rough cut stage and who are seeking guidance about editing and reaching picture lock, sound design, festival strategy, distribution and legal issues, and Diy releasing strategies. It takes place in New York June 8 - 12. A number of past participants have blogged about their experience over at The Workbook Project, and you can see a short video that gives you a taste of the labs here. Obviously I'm biased because I'm a part of it, but I think this is a...

New York -- Goldcrest Films International is launching a New York-based production arm, Goldcrest Features.
The division will aim to co-produce up to seven $5 million-$15 million features a year in the state, providing indie filmmaking partners with pre- and postproduction services from its Goldcrest Post New York facility.
Privately held Gfi's Goldcrest Film Finance arm, which will support the venture, has given capital to several studio projects over the last three years. The new venture will access debt, equity, presales and tax credits from Gff (which is supported by Gfi's library of 80-plus films, including "Gandhi" and "A Room With a View") and the international sales division Goldcrest Independent.
Goldcrest executive director Nick Quested will oversee the new venture and provide filmmakers with a staff of consulting producers, including HDNet Films vet Gretchen McGowan. Quested says his company's post facility has taught them how to help filmmakers make the most of New York tax credits.
