Had a no. 1 hit with the song "The Morning After" from The Poseidon Adventure (1972) but did
not sing it for the film.
Her father was a member of a barbershop quartet.
Her husband was a drummer.
In 1972, Russ Regan (head of 20th Century Records) discovered her when
he heard a demo she had recorded. He then hired her to sing "The
Morning After" for the singles market.
Before her claim to fame with the song "The Morning After", she worked
as a secretary and performed part-time as a folk singer.
Performing as Marmee in the National Touring Company of
the Broadway musical "Little Women," following her performance of the
